Opinion: I feel disciple of war/magic events should earn greater rewards.

I've been playing this game for months now and it's always bugged me. Why do higher difficulty primals/dungeons/raids/etc not merit better rewards?

It's true, raids do give a lot of great gear rewards. But what happens when you've obtained higher level gear than what is given out? Or even the same gear? Their own end game methods counter themselves when you get to a certain point. A LOT of the content becomes vaporware.

Beat garuda ex today. What I received as a reward could have very easily been a "thumbs up" cutscene as opposed to the actual rewards won from this fight. Why does fighting an insanely hard boss merit you less tomes than an easy dungeon run, or even a hunt that takes roughly a minute?

It's not only about tomes, but about gil as well. The way this game is broke down into is crafting and hunting. Each have their own capabilities to earn money, except for when you're a higher level player. Earning money forces you to become a disciple of hand/land rather than continuing to hunt and gather goods like you could in the past via quests. High level quests don't even give enough money for a teleport.

At lower levels the game had a great sense of balance when it came to the economy. I wouldn't have to start crafting unless I actually wanted to. Skip forward to level 50, quests are far less rewarding considering you'll need far more money.

I definitely suggest adding much more reward for the higher level/higher gear required not only through tomes, but also gil. As it stands, a lot of us with i100/110 gear will put up with players who aren't as talented in hard fights that take quite a while to complete and in the end after all the effort we're met with a laughable amount of tomes of both kinds as well as an item that is laughably terrible because, we're already past the point where these items are even necessary.

I feel a lot of events such as fates, hunts, primals, dungeons, and even the coil could benefit from greater tome output based on level and difficulty as well as gil payout and possibly even other elements added to the loot table at random so each player can actually get a reward for completing the difficult task rather than playing with 8 people and every time you complete it you don't get jack because other people need the rewards to get gear that doesn't suck. That doesn't necessarily mean every time you complete it you get an i90+ item or mount. But something simple that can be sold or collected cosmetically that won't be found in the boss chest so that the loot tables don't get watered down by pointless garbage.

Increase the tomestone rewards? Then Square will just inflate the amount of tomes needed just to exchange for items. Same for gil. The game already gives quite a bit of tomes and gil. Adding more will just inflate gear levels faster and people will quickly get bored.

That's because endgame rewards are pretty much a direct time/reward ratio.

Garuda EX is an incredibly short fight and if any more reward was given out then the time/reward ratio would be too high and everyone would just farm Garuda EX rather than doing any other content.

This of course is a fundamental problem they have brought on themselves by designing such a poor reward system to begin with, but that's how it is in this game. Difficulty isn't really a factor of reward in this game since the risk/reward ratio has already been skewed to unmanageable levels already by poor itemization.

How do you figure? The end game system is already a double edged sword considering yes there are many tiers of gear, and it does take a while to get to a good position but once you do there's no point to any of the content you just played. dungeons will get ran once, twice at best. There's absolutely no point to primals at all. They give i90 gear, but you can just do super fast dungeon runs in bray or even hunts to get similar or better gear. Where as primals you need to get a good party, then ensure you can actually complete the fight, and on top of that need to get the drop you need and roll a number that'll make you win the item


As for gil, how would that cause anything to be increased in price? The method until around level 50 is you can either hunt or craft to get what you need. But considering the lack of gil after level 50, you're forced to craft. What if I don't want to craft? I really have to create simple health potions that heal like 30 HP and sell them for 10k a pop (which is over priced and shouldn't be that way) in order to make the money I need just so I can hunt again? Why shouldn't insanely difficult boss fights be actually rewarding? There's no point to a lot of the content, and that wouldn't make things get boring quickly because there will be a reason to push you to your limit and to fight these challenging fights over and over again rather than "k did it once and got my 3 and a half myth" and never touch it again. These fights take so long, it's not like they'd even be farmable.

If the reward would somehow break the game, they could be capped off to say once or twice a week. I don't see how chasing monsters around, blowing through hundreds of thousands of gil, getting i110 gear and then just standing around mor dhona beats being able to replay all the events in the game as often as you'd like with just rewards for going through with your activities. it would by far bring more life to the game and give purpose to older content seeing as how it's been months since these exact same raids, primals, etc have all been here. It'll take what a week to beat the new one? Which will also give us i90 (or even i100) rewards which will be the "casual" number once higher ilvl gear comes out.

Still, it's not like just anyone can hit 50 and beat garuda ex. it is a pretty short fight given you know what you're doing, and in which case you could even say the faster you complete it the smaller your reward. But if it turns out everyone's farming garuda ex, that'll be no different than everyone farming the hunts or farming brayflox hard mode and quitting.


I find it absurd that a primal (primal FFS) that requires you to do so much just to get there, then actually have the ability to understand and complete the fight offers less of a reward than a 60 second hunt.
