Tokyo, we have a problem..
So the community starts to see this structural behaviour the dev team has. Just a quick summary of what numerous threads complain about.
- the development team lies
- the development team lacks foresight
- the development team lacks transparency (a nicer way to say they lie)
- the devlopoment team manages RMT in the shadows
- the development team does not reward legit players (housing prices too high)
- the development team rewards RMT (indirectly)
- the development team is lazy
- the development team uses similar excuses for a wide range of questions
Now, these aren't new things thrown at the dev team. However for example, when after a year we get this response and I quote: "The development team has been making the most of limited server resources"*, questions turn into demands and the already heated forums are no longer a place for solid feedback.
Why is this a problem? This has nothing to do whether personal housing should be in the game or not. When there is a 170 + page thread (probably 180 + by now) going on, people want it. I vouch for things people want in an MMO I play. I have fate in the developers to implement things people want where it would not be gamebraking or a complete mess (hunts for example, hence lack of foresight).
If you think the English forums are harsh, head over to the JP forums. Things are personal over there, I can tell you that!
*How is/are server capacity/recources limited when we have 400K subscribers (probably way more) generating $4 million a month? Can we have some transparency what limited server recources constitutes to?
