Who here would have preferred wardless personal housing?

I just don't really feel the need to have neighbourhoods for personal housing. I'd have been happy with a private room that had a garden out the front of it, a miniature instance separate from the rest of the gaming world. Something that makes me feel more like this...

I wouldn't have minded if it were "one size for all" either. I just don't feel that there should be a need to compete for plots of land. If personal housing is there for everyone as a personal thing, much like the inn room and private rooms are, I feel that this should allow the pricing to not be so high. I feel the biggest problem with housing in general is the fact that we are competing with people for plots of land.

Nah, if I wanted wardless, I'd just stick with the private room in my FC house forever and not bother with the personal housing. They're not nearly as much fun. Going in and out of the house, wandering around the ward, meeting neighbors, that's what makes a housing area worth it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as angry about -this- particular way of handling things as anyone, but I've posted that rant elsewhere. If they're doubling the wards at 2.4, the very least they should've done was make those wards personal exclusive, and these FC exclusive.

Yeah, but SE would charge you $49,000,000 gil for flood insurance before you could build there.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if all the houses were the same size and in the form of a stretch of road in the city with small houses lining both sides of it. No competing for prime locations, no trying to save for a large house, and everyone gets a house they can customize while still getting somewhat of a neighborhood.

What if they were in the form of studios, with 3-4 floors per building, where 3 or 4 people share the same entrance. Saves some resources on wards and you get more of a living-in-the-city feel.

There's a lot of different ways they could of handled housing.
Looking at the 20+ mmo's I've played in the past that had some form of housing system in.
I honestly think SE picked one of the worst possible systems to use for it.

But hey, I don't really care, I only ever use housing to afk in anyway

Yeah, but we can already do that with FC Houses and private rooms. Private Rooms are basically just part of an FC House, which is already in a neighbourhood. Also, said neighbourhood is always going to be busier if all the houses are FC Houses - imagine how dead the neighbourhoods will get if they're all personal houses. You'll have, what, maybe 10 people logged into the game at any one point for the 30 personal houses, and of those 10, only maybe 1-2 will be in the entire ward. It doesn't make much sense, does it? FC Housing + Private Rooms gives us almost everything that personal housing is currently offering. The things it lacks are size and personal gardens. This could easily be achieved with a wardless housing situation and everyone could be able to access it due to the lack of need for wards. Instead, what we have is basically FC House + Private Room with notably less opportunity for social interaction between FC people.

I have really never seen housing like this, ever.
It is really confusing me why they would do it this way.
Wildstar has a GREAT housing system.
Heck, ToonTown Online had a great housing system, instanced and free to every character (even alts) with the ability to invite people over. And that was a game meant for children made in 2003.

I was actually hoping for/expecting something like that.. I hadn't been following housing very closely though. In fact I had only just decided I wanted a house a few days ago so I'm not gonna rage the 1M I saved up is too little but.. Meh.

I still use my inn room and after this I may just buy a FC room again but owning my own personal little space (separate from any FC stuff) sounded very appealing to me.

Yes that's more what I had in mind. I was afraid they would cheap out and just reuse the FC wards or the inn rooms. If I had a choice I would have picked a revamped upgradable inn room in the city if your choice like mog houses in XI. However my true hope was that we would get a smaller ward attached to the city, or an instanced personal house spot in the cities..... Or really anything, that's not just FC housing.....
