Respecing chocobos for bardings

Can anyone tell me if I respec a rank 10 attacker chocobo to a rank 10 healer chocobo will I get a second barding, the white mage barding?

No, its based on the rank not the job at rank 10. You can get all 3 but need rank 30.


EDIT: I edited the post on my phone and apparently didn't take. Yoshi-P said the Barding comes from the Achievement of Rank 10, but the type of barding is based on which skill tree you put ALL your points in at the time of collection.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure I quite understand.

If I currently have a rank 9 attacker chocobo, and I were to respec him and put all of his points into healing, he would still be a rank 9 attacking chocobo?

My friend recently respeced his into a tank, got the achievement done, and got the Tanking Barding.

He then got another item to respec his chocobo, changed it to healer this time, went back to the guy for another barding, but was denied. So from what I can tell, you can only ever get the Barding once and it will be for the current tree you have chosen for your chocobo.

You forget Chocobo points are cumulative, and the skill costs remain the same. It would only take a lvl 18 chocobo to fully spec all jobs. See:

While you only get enough points in the first 10 levels to get one skill per rank, once you get to rank 11 you should receive 11 skill points. This is enough to get a second class to lvl 4. By lvl 15 you should be able to max a second class AND get to lvl 4 in the third class. By lvl 18 you will enough to get the third class complete with 6 points left. All up you should get 210 cumulative skill points, and 3 full trees (55 x 3) is only 165, leaving you with 45 spare skill points.

Homey at the falls doesn't give you the barding, it automatically shows up in your chocobo inventory, tell your friend to check his appearance tab because he probably has it.

can anyone confirm respeccing chocobo gives a new barding?
