How to kill a SCH

Here are some thoughts on killing SCH in PvP. Since a healer is often the first target, and SCH can put up a formidable defense (as can WHM, but this is not a thread about whether SCH or WHM is better), it is good to know a couple tricks for dealing with a good SCH.

The best thing you can learn for taking out a SCH, is when the SCH pops attunement, switch immediately to killing Eos rather then waste your time or CD's on the SCH. This one tip will work wonders for you. In fact all of the tips in this thread revolve around this idea: know when to switch between the SCH and Eos.

I used to look down on people who said to kill Eos first, and while I still prefer to go for the SCH initially, it does make sense to switch to killing Eos when you start to have trouble killing the SCH.

As a tank, I usually switch to killing Eos when the SCH starts resisting stuns, at about the 3rd or 4th stun. You might not think it is very effective to be switching, but I find that rotating between the SCH and Eos works quite well, largely due to stun resistance, but also because it focuses the SCH's attention on Eos rather then curing other party members. Once the SCH starts resisting stuns, start stunning Eos for a few stuns as you kill it. Usually what happens (as WAR), is the SCH won't cast sustain or cure Eos until Eos is at about 50% hp and it becomes clear that you are intent on killing it. I often am able to solo Eos with no trouble as tank, even when sustain is cast at about 30% of Eos' health.

Even if you kill Eos and the SCH swiftcasts another Eos, do not be discouraged--you have succeeded in placing the SCH in a reactive mode, and you have the initiative. Just keep switching between SCH and Eos to get the job done. It works quite well.

Causing the SCH to waste a SC on Eos is a great strategy especially if the DPS is going after the Range DPS and succeed on killing it.

One strat can be attack the scholar and 2 dps on the enemy ranged dps, the scholar need cast adloquium or use lustrate. You can force to him to use all lustrate to heal both players.

If you have got a smn or a bard in your group, they must dot eos too because if eos is low hp, she heals himself and not others players. In other hand, one whm or blm can sleep it.

I hate facing a scholar in level 30 pvp as my white mage. I lost 4 games today and all of them were level 30 pvp vs scholars haha. I always try to sleep eos but somehow my team manages to wake her up.
I don't really see a difference between scholar and white mage as my opponent in level 40 or 50 cause I feel regen works the same way as eos does.

As someone else who plays WHM in PvP - yeah, we're basically screwed in 30s because we lack the 'no cast time' curing of Regen, while Scholar sort of has it in Eos.

My win rate skyrocketed when I stopped signing up for 30s, because for the most part a WHM can barely actually do any healing there.

That said, you have Sleep in 30s, and Scholars don't have their Leeches to remove it yet. Take advantage of that. Tell your team you're gonna Swiftcast Sleep Eos and to burn down the Scholar immediately. That's probably your best bet - it's not exactly like Eos can heal while asleep, or purify it, and a Scholar will have to blow cooldowns to heal in 30s, just like you will.

Yes, there's no Esuna. That's about it in terms of disadvantages of having one in 30s, because Eos. Eos means that even when the scholar's being assaulted, no cooldowns have to be blown in order to heal. When you assault Eos, the Scholar heals them.

Which is kinda how healers work. They have to actually be able to heal. The only way a WHM gets to do any healing in 30s is by blowing a cooldown, because you will be interrupted by one of the many attacks headed your way any time you try.

You're a Scholar in PvP, apparently. You should be fully aware of all of this.

Yes, from what I have seen, causing the SCH to burn a swiftcast/raise on Eos is one of the main benefits of focusing on Eos when the SCH pops attunement or starts resisting stuns. If all dps on your team help you kill Eos, that's fine, but if they are focusing on a dps, that is fine too--either way it really hinders the SCH's ability to keep dps alive--either a dps or Eos is gonna die eventually as you rotate between Eos and SCH. Just remember that stunning Eos is just as valuable as stunning any healer, as is landing Storm's Eye if you are WAR. Be sure to stun Eos when you can!

Any fight that I could kill eos in a reasonable time, it probably would have been a better idea to just obliterate the scholar. In low ranks the ones who don't micromanage it and just leave it out of their line of sight - maybe. It's a good target to hit if they're attuned or you're out of sprints.

It is really not a good strategy on the high rank scholars I face on a regular basis. One of them in particular will start DPSing if nobody is hitting her, and does TONS of damage.
