PLD BiS (Post T9) - Widely Accepted vs. Optimized Crit

Hey i just wanted to get your opionions regarding 2 PLD BiS sets. There is essentially a "Widely Accepted" BiS List that has been circulating for quite some time and is pretty much used as the Benchmark these days.

I found a post on Reddit (Credit goes to SluggySlugg) which is relative to the "Widely Accepted" set but essentially trades off:
+57 Crit, -9 DET, -44 SS, and -1 Parry.

Some believe that you should never trade off a main stat (Parry in this situation) for any amount of secondary stat.

I personally think -1 Parry is definately worth adding +57 Crit regardless of the primary/secondary stat debate.

What are your thoughts?

Why would a tank prioritize Crit over flat damage increases?

I would think that Crit is the least of your stats

I'm not sure what you mean here. Your saying its not worth giving up -9 DET? Surely +57 crit has more value than 9 DET?

You're losing out on -1 Parry as you indicated above.

Most people say that -1 Parry is more in conform to what your role is in a battle: To tank and take the least possible damage.

Min/Maxers will tell you that going and putting Crit only increases your output in threat and damage and as Threat on a single target is not hard to do in the game, there seems to be little to no point to the crit increase. Parry, however, will decrease your damage, even if it's only one point.

If you wanna maximize your mitigation: you're hurting yourself by going with DD stats. It comes to what you want to do though. If your party is fine with it, then go for it. 57 Crit won't really do 'that' much to your output in DPS or threat really.

Survival is always a preferred method. And the Det you lose decreases the healing potential done to you. Just remember that.

Its not just 9 DET...its also SS you're losing. Which is also a flat DPS increase (since you *should* be constantly attacking your target to keep threat up...)

Contrary to popular belief, SS isn't terribly bad, and some jobs benefit from high SS greatly (WHM, BLM, PLD, MNK). PLD should also probably weigh SS more than most, since you can get more hits in a specific amount of time, whereas crit you are giving yourself a chance at more damage, and without insanely high Crit that chance is slim. PLD also have only one DoT, whereas classes with more/are heavily reliant on DoTs (SMN, DRG, BRD) will weigh SS less

DET increases output, not input.

It increases healing you give, not healing your receive.

I've been a believer in crit since I tried a full crit build on T5 before 2.2 the DPS increase is notable imho and you don't trade much for it. With SS builds you also end up fighting with TP especially if you need to shield lob a few times in the fight.
Personally though there is no debate to me that this is BiS if you plan on OT

There's the issue.

If you plan on building an OT BiS, you're not going to prioritize Parry in many situations, such as Levi EX, T5 or T8. You can go into some fights as OT with full STR accessories on, and prioritize DPS (if you'll only be tanking a little)

I'm pretty sure tank BiS is from the MT viewpoint, not OT. Each fight's OT calls for something different, and you should be tailoring your build to that fight.

This is just my opinion, but I prefer the Allaghan Armor stats over Tome Stats honestly. If I recall, ACC is the main stat for Allaghan Armor I believe?
