Patch 1.18 r14 Ressurect?

While looking just recently at the lodestone update on 1.18 I was really happy to see first off that fatigue is DEAD and finally gone for us. What I wanted to discuss here, however, is the new changes made to the resurrecting spells for con/thm (mostly conjurer).

Raise

Learned: Rank 14 (instead of 38)
Recast Time: 5 min. (instead of 60 sec.)
MP Cost: 101 (instead of 0)


Resurrect

Learned: Rank 14 (instead of 38)
Recast Time: 5 min. (instead of 60 sec.)
MP Cost: 101 (instead of 0)


Raise II -New-

Restore the breath of life, reviving a KO’d target. Weakness and Brink of Death effects last for 1 minute.

Learned: Conjurer, Rank 38
Cast Time: 10s
Recast Time: 2.5 min.
MP Cost: 186
Exclusive to conjurer.


Rebirth -New-

Restore the breath of life, reviving a KO’d target. Target suffers no Weakness or Brink of Death effects.

Learned: Conjurer, Rank 50
Cast Time: 10s
Recast Time: 30 min.
MP Cost: 231
Exclusive to conjurer.



So right off the bat I was incredibly surprised at how early on anyone can now attain raise with a spellcaster, but why is raise II clocked at a 2.5 min recast and raise 5 min recast? Weird =/.

Now raise IIand Rebirth are just what astounded me with these new changes. Essentially abolishing weakness looked like an amazing new component to combat and a potential vital mechanic to the upcoming dungeons. Especially with chainspell tacked on to using the raise, I can already see how Conjurers will be even more clearly defined as a white mage job.

I feel like the big hint here in relation to jobs for spellcasters is this:

THM - black mage
CON - white mage

No more debate (if there ever was any) over that now =/.

Either this was a typo or it will be changed before 1.18 or the tweaks in 1.19. Imo they will be switched.

I am shocked as well by how early one gets to raise in 1.18. I always thought it should be around 20ish.

I started a topic about this too. Seems like since raise is "cross-class"-able they want to limit the other classes from abusing it or something of that effect. And, since raise 2 and etc. are exclusive to CON, the recast rates are lower.

And the initial death penalty is actually light when you consider the numbers you generate in HP, and MP. However, the BoW(brink of weakness) effect is much more penalizing and really does make you useless in combat. I don't see the first stage of weakness doing too much to your effectiveness of combat, yet making you more susceptible to death which in turn, causes a defined roll for the healer.

having played ffxi. I like the lvl 14 raise. I do not like death it wastes time. Hope the low rank will be an incentive for people to use it on others. This will bring community feel :)

can i get my reraise and reresurrect? Or are you planning on a job that has reraise? Just wondering I feel useless sometimes if the party wipes and I can't just reraise and raise the whole party :/

yeah it's funny cause on ZAM it's SUPPOSEDLY an abil (reraise) but it has yet to be implemented in the game. So maybe in the future?

*fingers crossed* lets hope! If they're saving it for a job, I'm fine with that. Let's just hint to Yoshi-P et. al that we would like some word about the possibility of reraise, knowing the old staff he was probably told "there's reraise in the dats", and nothing else, and he's like "oh....ok....."

So, I'm thinking this means Conjurer will be left with being White Mage when jobs come.

Looks like I won't be playing CON ever again.
