Is this your first Final Fantasy? Or do you just not remember grinding in past games?

So much hate for the new elements that take more than a day to accomplish. Does anyone even remember the requirements on some of the older FF games to get all the best weapons/gear/upgrades/levels?

Do you remember farming for 1 mob for weeks with hardly ever claiming it to just have a CHANCE at a drop for an item you would probably never even use on FFXI?

Do you remember capturing tons and tons of monsters on FFX to complete the beast arena?

Do you remember reloading your save 500 times in a attempt to get the right chest in FF12 so that you can get the endgame spear...?

There are several other instances of it.. but the fact that people have their atmas and have upgraded it 3-4+ times 3 days into the patch have shown that this isn't that long of a process... Heck it's even been stated now you don't NEED your relic weapon and can actually level a job on the fates your doing to get something MORE out of it if you want...

Calm down guys.. really. I got my atmas in a total of 8 hours. 1 hour a day over the last week. It isn't difficult, you just have to be smart about it. Sitting in a town for 5-10 minutes waiting for a fate to pop instead of teleporting to a new area is not going to help you out. I understand it's RNG and someone can get their Atma's in 1 hour while another person can take months.. that is great. It gives you a goal and a sense of failure or accomplishment either way. If you don't like it. there are 2 other weapons out there that are BETTER than the Atma's right now.. go get those. YOU DONT NEED the Atma's weapon...

Easy to say when you are done in eight hours. I'm about 33 hours in, give or take, and have 9 atma.
As to your other points, if you camped gear in XI that you weren't going to use, you're foolish. All FFX monsters can be gathered in less than a day of playing, and reloading like that in XII was stupid to get a second spear. If you want to talk XII grind you should have mentioned petrify farming.

where did you saw that? is that true? if it is, than the process of why the drop rate is so makes sense, it turns the atma into an "alt weapon", not "main weapon"

There was a joke thread made about it, if he believed it to be true, that should inform to the credibility of this all.

I remember camping Leaping Lizzie in FFXI for the boots which i never got...but dam did my heart race when she finally spawned and caught her for the chance of a drop.

I remember playing Phantasy Star II running in the same small spot for hours just to level up.

People seem to forget or are too young to understand that RNG is a big part of RPG games (multi-sided dice). Not to sound like an old man, but back in the day the only thing killing ever guaranteed you was experience points, and thats it. Even WoW had RNG blues that people used for twinks.

5 hrs, 1 atma for me. I don't care how long it takes but looks like I'll get 1 upgrade by 2.3 maybe..

People that say RNG is a part of RPGs are forgetting modern RPGs... This isn't 10 years ago, heck, it isn't even 5 years ago. Please stop making that comparison.

I never actually played XI, but I assume people weren't farming for 1 mob for weeks by just typing Tab key and using 1 skill.

Siiigh. People are not complaining about the -time- it takes to get the new relic (Zodiac, whatever) stuff. They are complaining because the first portion of the quests reduced everyone to killing things in very low level FATEs with a terrible drop rate. As far as I know, the majority of people are find with the second part of the quest. It's the seemingly never-ending FATE grinding combined with low drop rates.. not the grind itself. Not all grinds are created equal. This one rewards the lucky and punishes people who endure.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure the "you don't need your Zenith equipped" was an April Fools joke. Everything I've read -prior- to April Fool's day says you need Zenith weapon equipped.
