Bard Rooting Through Walls (No LOS)

Whether it's a latency issue, a bug, an exploit, or whatever, being able to root, sleep, cast, or anything through walls is a huge imbalance issue. The example I am using is that a bard was clearly not in LoS of me for at least 2-3 seconds and still got nailed with a root.

I'd show the video, but SE is on a ban spree.

Saw the video, and I've had this happen frequently as well.. Although its kinda tough to say without seeing the previous few seconds beforehand. Long as shadowbind was cast even for that split second that had u in LOS/range or w/e, u could go the opposite direction, behind a wall, behind a pillar or Jesus himself could come down from the heavens, you'd still get binded/hit by it.. dat delay..

But like I said tough to say without seeing the few seconds of the vid prior

Is the delay really 2-3 seconds? In my video you can clearly see the casting animation through the wall - are you telling me it takes 2-3 seconds for that animation to even flash?

If so, this is a blessing and a curse for bards I guess. Do bard skills also have a travel time to a target that would delay damage (to make it seem like they are hitting through a wall?)

I dont know u,but with my 200ms,i fell bind delay is like that.Sometimes i get bind with my fetter ward up like 9-8 segs.

Yes, i use it often and I always see it often happen. Either getting people rooted as they run behind to LOS, or tryin root them to LOS healer/etc, but they got out of LOS.

I often see that as well as i putting dot up, as theyre running LOS me, still got through. It's just the delay animation man.

Yep, as others have said.. dat delay..

Plus on summoner I've casted tri disaster so many times while a target is in LOS then goes to hide behind wall and i still manage to hit them

I have been on the 'receiving' end and on the 'giving' end of this situation.

-- Enemy starts casting sleep on me.
-- I run behind a pillar/wall right away.
-- Still get slept anyway.

Or...

-- I start casting a spell on an enemy.
-- Enemy runs behind pillar/wall right away.
-- My cast still lands anyway.

What's REALLY disconcerting is when people continue to hurt you THROUGH walls as though they aren't even there in the first place (long after you initially ran behind). I've had bards land hits on me long after I was behind a wall, and my latency is generally pretty good. I fear the position updating of this game is not yet crisp enough to REALLY make pvp as competitive as it could be. The pillars/walls available to you aren't as useful as I think they could be.

Shadowbind has a very long animation delay before the bind is applied.

That doesn't seem to be the problem players are grasping at in this post, however, so it must be aimed at server polling rates which have been a huge problem since the beginning. This is a server–client issue and requires the update rate to be tightened much higher if you want near-instantaneous responsivity.

With 30ms latency to Montreal and 80ms to XIV servers I almost never feel cheated when interrupting a healer or avoiding an inbound Sleep. These actions feel as they should so long as you compensate for the loose update rates.

However, I do feel cheated with time-critical actions like Hallowed Ground when I find myself still taking damage moments after the animation completed and its effect was applied to my character. When pressing HG it means I want to be invulnerable immediately and not a moment later. Having animation delays and update rates dictate life or death isn't very comforting.
