SMN Ifirit question

Ok I know the pets scale off gear to some extent its obvious from titan after equipping vit tank accessories. So has anyone gone as far ans melding a vanya set with str to check ifrits damage?

He just seems so bad atm and just wondering if I am missing something here as to why he is in the game as a summon.

STR does not affect Ifrit's damage. Weapon damage and INT/Det/Crit affect all summons' damage potential. Skill speed affects Ifrit and Titan's offensive skills but it's not worth investing into for obvious reasons. Spell speed affects Garuda's.

Foe Requiem boosts Garuda, Dragon Kick blunt- debuff boosts Titan and Ifrit. Even with a MNK in the party, I'd struggle for reasons to ever use Ifrit. Ifrit's Burning Strike has an annoying delay unless you spam the command manually, and Burning Strike + autoattack is only about equal to 1 Wind Blade from Garuda. Garuda also has Contagion. Ifrit just has no point currently. Even before you get Garuda-Egi, I'd argue Emerald Carbuncle is still superior or at least equal.

I think against a boss like Acheron, Ifrit is a better companion. Place him in the right spot and you don't have to worry about micro-ing him out of any aoe effects.

Like the Pokemon adage, "there is a time and place for everything." Different egi's are good in different places.

With the aoe damage reduction egis get you never need to worry about Garuda in that fight either...

Ok cool my main sch but attempting to gear out my smn finally just to help fills roles and well when I wanna dps ... at least till I get my mnk leveled up but that will be my melee dps assuming I like it.
