PLEASE stop telling summoners to use Ifrit!!!

So many noob--- i mean, amateur-- summoners, or those who are "theorycraft summoners", (they never played the class but have gotten a degree in youtube) try to tell me that ifrit does "more dps" or that i should be subbing him in after each contagion to do max damage.

    No.

I've straight tested with a parser on a dummy. (Which I then retested by manually recording numbers from what i physically saw). I did a series of tests for over an hour, where within 5 minutes I already came to the conclusion that there are MAX CRIT damage numbers and MINIMUM BASE damage numbers that will always be the same number from your pets, and the regular variation actually doesn't vary much.

My conclusion on ifrit vs garuda:

    #1- Ifrit sucks

    #2- Ifrit sucks

#3- Ifrit sucks BECAUSE his auto attack AND his skill, together, are nearly identical in damage to garuda's basic skill. If anything, together they add slightly more damage (maybe around 10-20 points more). (tested)

-- BUT WAIT BEFORE CLICKING THAT QUICK REPLY! BECAUSE....

#4- For some strange reason Ifrit uses Burning Strike every 4 seconds, NOT 3 seconds. This means that as the fight goes on garuda will always do more dps, and I haven't even counted contagion yet or the fact he's ranged. (tested)

#5- Raging strikes on your dots + CONTAGION is so much extra damage that ifrit would never be able to compete. Not to mention what a rare situation it would have to be for you to actually consider being creative and summoning him, the fact that he has to WALK INTO MELEE RANGE for each target, or the fact that he will LOSE TO GARUDA IN DPS AS THE FIGHT GOES ON (EVEN ON A SINGLE TARGET!!!)

#6- Contagion > ifrit. It doesn't "simply reduce mana consumption," (shakes head) it allows you to EXTEND your dots beyond their normal timers and BANE them to everything around the target. This significantly raises damage because you don't have to spend time recasting all the dots or waste another [aetherflow] on another bane, and can also use fester twice in a row without having to recast. Not to mention you can spam ruin II a little more and recast shadow flare without missing a beat in dps.

For those who don't believe ifrit sucks this much:

Please test things! Summon ifrit and summon garuda on a striking dummy and go to town! It won't take long for you to realize garuda is better in a variety of ways and ultimately grants you more dps!!

Please, theory-summoners, stop giving real summoners the horrible advice to use Ifrit..... or the flat-out wrong information "ifrit does more dps". Thank you.

    Don't use Ifrit.

Do note, Ifrit IS bugged. His Burning Strike skill doesn't cast again until .5-1s AFTER the cooldown has come off, whereas Garuda uses her skill instantly. Even after this fix, I doubt Ifrit will be worth it due to no Contagion, and being melee. The fix will probably make it do ~5-10 DPS more than Garuda, but you lose Contagion and then have a melee pet(Also Foe Req will put Garuda back on top).

Also note Ifrit does scale off of Int.

His 120 potency attack is supposed to do less due to him having an auto attack, at least in my opinion.

People have been saying to use ifrit? I have seriously never heard that before now, I thought it was common knowledge that garuda was better(Note, I'm 36 SMN, so I don't have Garuda yet.) because of it's better synergy with the class skills.

    Sadly, yes.

Just to comment on your level 36 comment, Ifrit is better from 30-40. Once you get Shining Emerald, Ifrit shouldn't be used.

What about for mob cleaning in regular dungeons? (I assume we're only focusing boss fights here)

Garuda. Dots > Contagion > Bane > watch the mobs melt.

I find it easier using Ifrit for Demon Wall, but beyond that I have almost never used him, as others have said Raging Strikes + DoT's + Contagion + Bane is just very godly, no need to give that up for Ifrit even on trash.

In general I have found at least semi-regular use for all of Garuda's skills, things like knock-back if you get accidental enmity or just her general AoE, whereas with Ifrit...well the shield I mean, I have never in one instance of the game have found a use for that skill, even back when I was leveling, Ifrit never had enmity to make that shield useful, as for Crimson Cyclone, its a stun, and it builds stun resistance which is just...not very good considering everyone else, most likely the tank already has a stun or other CC they want to use, it's not needed at all.

I think Ifrit might need a revamp of its skills.

Prepare to be screamed at by everyone else. Demon Wall is all about speed and you are cutting your Raging Stricked DoTs uptime in half by using Ifirt.

I hate ifrit, just flat out hate him being melee, mostly because before patch he was harder to manage as he chases off mobs n all and in sunken temple hes a jerk going to other mobs and making it harder for me to bring back to me. I guess now he will be easier to manage since i can cast n control my pet. but i cannot wait for garuda, atleast if garuda chases something shes at max range giving me more time to react.

Yeah... I remember Ifrit.... I put him at the very dark back corner now. Never using him again. My carbuncle was better.

He was the ultimate setback for me.
