Bring Carbuncle back please!

So, I believe most folks would agree that one of the amazing things about FF games compared to others is how beautiful and aesthetically oriented they are. Facial expressions have been taken to a new art form in this game, emotes, etc.

In a game where aesthetics are so important, I absolutely hate that I can no longer summon Carbuncle as a Summoner. I understand that Garuda is better, but I love my little 'buncle and I'd like to have him out and squirreling around.

I also know that I could just take off my soul of the summoner, but why should I have to do that? A Summoner is the epitome of the class that summons spirits into being to fight alongside him, and I disagree with the design choice that says that "ranking up" as a summoning class would suddenly keep me from summoning lower ranked summons.

I am on board with all other summoners when I say that I wish our Egi's were more detailed, but just giving me Carbuncle back would be a great start!

I think its stupid that I cant summon my carbuncle as a smn ... or as sch. Does any other job loose class abilities?

It's to do with the class's lore - Carbuncle is stated as a being created from the manipulation of esoteric geometric symbols in an ACN's grimoire, Primal-egis on the other hand, are the essence of a Primal bound to a SMN - Carby hence is not a Primal. This isn't FFXI where Carbuncle was the same as the other avatars you summoned.

Once again, try to look past FFXI and treat FFXIV as a totally different game that does things in different ways.

I really loved my carbi. I want him back as well!!

You don't lose abilities. Summon and Summon II still remain, but summon different entities based on current class or job. As Arcanist, they summon Carbuncle. As Summoner, they summon Titan and Garuda which play the same roles as both Carbuncles. As Scholar you gain Eos and Selene. Being able to summon Carbuncle as either job would serve no purpose. Summoner uses Titan and Garuda to do the same things as Carbuncle only better. Scholar needs your pet to heal, which Carbuncle does not provide.

Just like other jobs, you still gain 5 job-specific abilities and you still retain the same number of base class abilities. The difference with Arcanist as a class is that its jobs alter a couple of the base abilities to suit their purposes. You do not lose or gain anything more than other job/class combos.

Protip: Unequip Summoner/Scholar Soul. Gain Carbuncle.

Actually that is stated and addressed in the OP. The OP's issue is that she wants to be able to have Carbuncle as a Summoner. Switching to Arcanist is not a solution because you lose out on job abilities like Fester.

Um, isn't it obvious that you can still call Emerald Carbuncle(caster), you don't really lose him as the SMN job, he's just a weak avatar compare to Ifrit and Titan which is a shame. Topaz Carbuncle is replaced by Titan-Eggi as the terrestrial avatar to tank with which kinda makes sense but you can still call Emerald. Try it, it's still an action! O_o

Yeah, that! I don't have Garuda-Eggi yet XD She kinda compensates the Emerald Carby when you defeat her as an upgrade. Don't loose hope! It's still early in the game, maybe Carbuncle will come back in a superior form and you may change his stance like with Chocobo.

In FFxi, Carby was the tank and your best friend of all avatars. You'll might use him for most of the game because he is powerful!

Oh trust me I read the OP, as well as the posts following it. But the fact that they want Carbuncle back on a job that isn't lore-tied to Carbuncle is like you took a lollipop from a two year old and replaced it with a single tiny tootsie roll telling them that it's simply not meant to be.

Carbuncle was not a tank, he was a kite mechanic. If he was a tank he'd survive longer than 1 minute. Only reason he was used more than others was because you could literally reduce his perpetuation cost to 0. Even in some cases regain 1 MP a second while he was out.
