Let's think of some PLD changes for 2.1

With warriors essentially becoming juggernauts now, I think it's time for the PLD to get some love. I'm going to post some suggestions for 2.1 that I think the PLD needs very badly.

Paladin abilities:
Sword Oath -Decreases enmity generated greatly, while slightly decreasing the time between auto attacks.

Cover - protects all party members within range, duration has been extended to 10 seconds and redirects the enmity of all enemies within range towards the paladin. Damage redirected has been reduced to 50% and now includes magic damage.

Gladiator changes:
Shield Swipe - Increases enmity. No longer on GCD.

Awareness - Due to the broken/worthless nature of Awareness, the skill has been reworked. This ability is now a group buff, that nullifies all critical damage from the enemy.

Bulwark - Reduced cool down to 120 seconds.

Tempered Will - Removes all debuffs while preventing knockback and draw-in effects.

Hallowed Ground - Buff is applied immediately after activation, not after the animation has finished. Redirects all enmity to paladin for duration.

I think this will give some of the worthless abilities we have much more use in all combat.

This can't be real. Not only is there already a thread with an almost identical title, but the Warrior buffs haven't even been implemented. Don't forget that Paladin is already incredibly strong and is the go to tank for ALL content. Most of those "buffs" are incredibly OP. Jesus Christ I think I just got trolled.

Not at all, it's just Shield Swipe, tempered will and cover and absolutely worthless in their current state. You can't seriously think they don't need some tweaking?

Did you read the post before posting at all? The paladin is fine, it's just some of it's abilities have almost no purpose.

Of course I did. You're asking for insanely powerful buffs though. Just look objectively at the Sword Oath buff you're asking for, it's insanely OP. Also, the only borderline useless ability you listed is Shield Swipe. The rest of the abilities you listed are situationally useful.

I may have gone overboard on the buffs. Adjusting post accordingly.

Also, Awareness in it's current state nullifies all critical healing received, explain to me how in any situation that's useful? Same with tempered will. The cool down is too long and the effects are too short to have any use outside of the clockwork knights on turn 4(you are generally too close for the magnetic wave to have any effect anyways). I guess you could say it has use on ADS when it uses Ballast, but it can be easily avoided most of the time anyways.

Awareness is still useful on the massive pulls we're doing in WP. I forgot about the issue about it effecting critical heals, but that's one of the few QoL changes that should be made. Tempered Will is fine as it is, in my opinion. I use it mostly in turn 4 and sparingly elsewhere, but I honestly think it will become more useful as we get more content.

Outside of a few QoL changes like the Awareness bug mentioned and small things like the animation delay on things like Spirits Within, PLD needs no love. It's an already incredibly powerful job with a lot of utility (compared to Warrior). Also, sorry for my defensiveness concerning your OP, but the amount of Paladin tears today is driving me insane. I just assumed that your original post was another Paladin begging for buffs that aren't needed at all. With you having experience in the Coil, you should already know this.

Edit: Your new edits are a bit more reasonable, but I don't think they're needed at all.

Paladin abilities:

Cover - swaps all enmity of player target to PLD. Basically if a BLM has taken 10 mobs off you with AOE you can pull the mobs off the BLM with this .


Gladiator changes:
Shield Swipe - AOE stun .No longer on GCD.
you know when you have pulled 4 groups in WP on a speed run and the healer tripped over a step and you are out of healing range ... Bam hit shield swipe , stun mobs for 4 seconds , just enough time for healer to catch up or even for you to get 2 extra flashes in so the healer doesn't pull agro when they heal .


these aren't needed but hey im all about abilities that make game more fun and more survival tools never killed anyone :)

Just let it go with these threads. Yes, PLD has some QoL issues, and yes I want the rotation to be more fun, but the job tanks very very well atm.

That said, the enmity changes to a few of warrior's abilities, make me think Paladin will see some enmity changes, just because tanking on Warrior already wasn't hard.
