The addition of daily quests in 2.1
How does everybody feel about this? Excited for the new patch but I loathe dailes.
It's lazy content design. Other content such as dungeons, crafting, or housing do a better job of making things feel less like filler, whereas I can't do a single daily in a game without being painfully cognizant that all I'm doing is wasting time.
Even WoW, a game that relied on them so heavily, has finally gotten rid of them. They decided that it was a bad design mechanic. Few enjoy doing the same menial tasks over and over daily, and fewer like to feel forced to. (Spamming dungeons for tomes can feel similar but having a week to reach the cap allows you at least some flexibility and dungeons are inherently better than 5 or 6 "kill x number of y" quests.)
Hopefully dailies won't be necessary. But so many promise "optional" dailies then tie gear and other important benefits to them making them de facto-mandatory, so I have some apprehensions.
Is anybody happy about it?
