bards fix "WALL OF TEXT"

Hello BiGG Bawsss here from Hyperion server. I would like apologize for this wall of broken wall of text ahead of time. You will notice English was not my major in college! I also stream a good bite if any of you are interested in watching me and my FC do lots of random stuff.

I see a lot of talk about nerf Bard or change bard. I figured since I MAIN bard and put tons of hours each day into min/maxing everything possible on bard. I decided to post on this change.


K Now I feel bard is super strong early and fall off really bad vs blm/drg/mnk in later content. For example I have yet to parse vs any other bard who was even with in 5 digits of my damage on any main raid fight. Main raid fights I consider are Turn 1/2/4 and titan. The thing here is my damage has been higher then most every since I got pretty much like a iLv65. Now as drg/blm/mnk's start getting gear I am seeing them just blow by me in damage even with pulling out the Limit Break.

I am a numbers kinda guy so I parse EVERYTHING I do I am always looking for what is strong and always trying to find a way to push just a little more damage/dps. The last thing I think the Dev team should do is nerf bards. I feel like if anything they need a buff late game and a nerf early game.


Well here is pretty much what this long post is all about. I believe the ability BLOODLETTER is where you can make a change for the bards that would fix a lot. Then you can also change how the dots proc bloodletter. I feel that if you gave bloodletter a 5sec cast time then on proc from windbite and venomous bite make it a instant cast and increase the potency to 250-300. You would in theory give bards a combo move kind of like the blm firestater proc. I think you would also need to reduce the proc chance on windbite and venomous bite to say 25% chance on each.

Here are some numbers for you to look at for bards from a high skill/item level bard. In mostly all these parses you will see my bloodletter was around 10-12k damage now these are just titan fights I saved yesterday for this post. On all these fights I did not get put in the rock any. The only fight anybody even out damaged me was one of the fights where I did not use any buffs. The 4 fights I buffed on 8 minute average. While the non-buffed avg was about 10mins. I normally use bloodletter about 36 times a fight if everything is going good but they range from 34-38 times almost all the time.

Titan fight 1 this fight bloodletter was 6th in damage with 10,849 damage. With 34 bloodletters done in this fight. I also believe this fight I wasn't paying attention as much.

Titan fight 2. This fight is more like what 75% of the parses look like for me. 38 bloodletters with 11,010 damage as the 4th most damage.

Titan fight 3. Same as before except only used 36 bloodletters in this fight with 11,149 damage.

Titan fight 4. This fight is 36 bloodletters with 12,428 damage done but this fight went on slightly longer then the other 3.

Titan fight with no buffs 1. The non-buffed fights are way more bloodletter shots then others. this fight I did almost 13,882 damage with bloodletter and used it 47 times.

Titan fight with no buffs 2. This fight was about 9 minutes long. I had 41 bloodletters with 10,700 damage done on this fight.

K so what did all this prove right? Well in my early testing when I was working on min/max rotations and blah blah(can't give mah secrets away). I noticed bloodletter was more like my #3 damage about 80% of the time. Where now it has started falling off more and more.


AHHHHHH Ok if you have stuck around to this part let me sum all this up very short and simple.

Bloodletter = super strong early but falls of late game.

How to fix it give it as I said above a 3-5sec cast with a potency of 250-300 and make it a instant cast off bite procs.

Why would that fix it?
Simple you would lose about 5k-ish damage early in gear progression then when you start getting to iLv80 gear avg you wouldn't start seeing the other DD's blow past you. It would also fix the only 2 problems with bards which are they are super strong with little gear early vs other jobs. Then they fall off super hard in damage late game due to not having that super high hitting attack like DRG or BLM.


K now I know a lot of people are going to be like bard is not a DD...... All I can say is LOL. In this game bard is 90% DD and 10% support you only support most fights for like 30secs asides from turn 5 any ways. Then a bard is only really a support type for like 10% of the fight. So to me changing what I said still wouldn't make bards top end damage dealers but wouldn't nerf them into the ground which I feel is coming.

You forget to take into account the BRDs utility in support. BRD is not a pure damage class like BLM, PUG, and DRG. Hence why they pull ahead in parsing.

So no, BRD shouldn't match pure damage classes in raw numbers.

I raid tier 2 in Rift also, maining as a pure Bard. So would like to see Bard pushed further towards support in FFXIV also.

Musketeer is planned for after that and also thinking of duel gun

So Musketeer will probably be the ranged non magic pure damage class. Not BRD.

When not using support abilities they certainly should... rift does not = ffxiv

There is no support in ffxiv. Repeat that to yourself . They cannot simply have a class be dps, say it's dps.. and have people spend all their tomes and time on that class and then say... well we change our mind, you're now support with crap damage.

The support abilities in bard do not come even remotely close to those in rift. And they lower damage when they are used. They are meant to be used as very temporary very minor buffs, that lower your damage when using them to balance it out.
