Botters helping me farm

I've seen two types of bots lately. One where the person rotates in a circle and one where the person doesn't move at all. The rotating one seems to be smart enough to not attack your target if you're attacking. The other one routinely attacks everything even if you've claimed it.

So if I'm farming Golden Fleece, would it be "illegal" for me to move a little closer to the bot so that it helps me kill faster? :D Or maybe tag two mobs and let him pick one off and kill it for me??

I mean technically I don't really know for sure if its a bot, it could just be a person who doesn't talk and stands in one place and doesn't cancel trade attempts. :confused:

put a report in for the guy and abuse him, maybe SE will actually bann him promptly

It does not seem like a safe thing to knowingly profit from some one who might be using 3rd prty tools considering you might appear to be working with them, which technically you are if you gain an unfair advantage from their tools which are also an unfair advantage. In other words, using tools or exploits that give an unfair advantage is against the TOS.

As devious as that sounds, as Invizo said, please put in the proper report for the guy.

Though, make sure that the person is actually a bot. I know that there was one person who was falsely accused of botting on here.

The turning ones will attack any mob that is white, if you should pull a mob that gets near the bot and the mob leaves its area so runs back (turns white..) the rotating bot is smart enough to chase after it. Obviously I wouldn't recommend hours of fun by luring the bots to higher level mobs that agro.......

wait till they claim 2 mobs and open a trade window w/ them and watch them die a slow agonizing death because theyre bot cant close trade windows.( some of the RMT does though)

Does exploiting the bot give you an unfair advantage over other players who farm normally? Ask yourself this truthfully and you will have your answer as to whether what you are doing is legitimate or not.

Came in to read thread, got distracted. Those huge tracts of land are glorious to behold~!

Meh it's fine. You're not responsible for the other players actions. Think about the lack of communication going on with most players. It's fairly reasonable for people to throw in an excuse that they thought the other "player" was just willing to help while they farm for things. You have no control over what the other account/character is doing, it's pretty unjust to fault another for its actions. It's sort of like driving through a street that is well-known to have traffic violators, and results in getting into an accident (their fault). It's not at all your fault (despite knowing the risks/situation), and your insurance can't hold you responsible for the irresponsibility of others.

It might be trouble for you to do that, but I think it's going to be dependent on the GM or whoever. If the character is just a bot (at the time), it's essentially not a PK/MPK action. It's not much different than doing something that would cause an NPC to be killed by your actions. I'm fairly certain that you won't be banned for something like that.

I wish that they would just say..."Hey heads up, thanks for the report and this guy has been banned due to botting...appreciate the good looking out for the good of the community and game...Square-Enix Staff"
