MRD - a DPS?

Wondering if anyone else has played around with MRD as a DPS role.
Our MRDs, properly geared, are always on top in DPS on Titan by such a large margin.
Anyone else noticed MRD yet?

EDIT: I'm talking about MRDs doing twice as much DMG as relic+1 DRGS on titan, decked out in Allagan gear, using a Titan's axe.

how are you calculating his damage? enmity? maybe MRD attacks have enmity bonus in them.

Using a parser and Parses.

I can possibly see this due to the high potency of their attacks, and popping defiance only when you have unchained up.


Also a healer to cleanse your pacification after Berserk.

MRD dude, not WAR.
MRD doesn't get defiance. But they do get all the best DPS job abilities from Lancer & Archer combined with their native ones.

They also sit on a lot of str, a lot of HP.

I think WAR is also really underrated as a DPS, but MRD is on an entire different level from all other DPS, including SMN/BRD/MNK.

If MRD is doing that much damage, WAR would do more due to access of Relic+1, higher base STR, and Unchained+Defiance, and AF2(helm would be BiS for DPS).

The damage CDs aren't as much of a total DPS increase as you think they are.

If you had Allagan Axe, I could see it. Maybe. Not with a Titan vs. Relic+1.

Defiance->Infuriate+Unchained->Build Wrath->Pop Inner beast at end of unchained timer->Take off defiance

Or does Defiance take up a GCD?

You may wish to include gear and parse info with screens. Maybe a target dummy test as well. Could be interesting but proof is usually required to backup claims like that. IT be kinda bonkers if a titan axe/darklight MRD is really out doing a DRG with relic+1 and full Allagan gear. A full set of ilvl90 should be destroying over darklight.

do you mean using unchained, then build wraths to take afvantage of the crit bonus? i dont see much benefits frm using defiance if we r not tanking.

Stacking berserk, Raging strikes, Blood for blood, and internal release prolly creates a crap ton of burst but idk if the DPS would be there other wise. Not to mention you'd prolly pull aggro everytime you do burst since you have to spam your BB chain. On the plus side, u get more defensive CDs...i think

That won't happen, but MRD does respectable DPS against comparably-equipped dedicated DPS job. DRG has 42 more base strength than MRD, which alone is 8-10% more DPS. It then has more potency on everything, plus more off-GCD attacks. To put the off-GCD in context, MRD has 1.67 potency per second in off-GCD abilities while DRG has 15.89. In total, DRG is going to roll 25% more DPS pretty easily before abilities are taken into account. WAR just gets better burst ability, with Raging Strikes + Berserk + Blood for Blood putting up about 101.6% damage boost over 20s and 68% boost over another 20s period per 180s.Time-weighted, these bursts are about 19% DPS boost. DRG's use of Blood for Blood only will put up around a 7.5% damage boost. Now, you could just look at the strength difference here and realize that it alone accounts for the greater burst ability of MRD -- 1.075*1.1=1.1825. The greater potency is where DRG will extend a lead with identical equipment, but it's not a large one. The thing that kills MRD as a DPS is the lack of appropriate equipment.
