Hitting 50 - The Next Steps

So I am about to hit 50, and I work wayyyyy too much for my own good. So what should be my priorities once 50?
*Gearing
*DoH
*DoL
*Leveling subclasses
*Grinding Grand Company

I know people have issues with money, so I want to keep that in mind.

Also, I play a bard, if that helps with answers.

After you hit 50, these are the steps I'd suggest you to take:

1. Start farming Amdabor Keep asap. This dungeon will give you tomestones of Mythology which let you buy relic gear (some call it AF+1 or AF2). You can get 300 of them every week and that's 8 runs of AK. The reset is on Monday at Japanese midnight (between Monday and Tuesday in Japan). Keep these capped every week. AK also drops a gear set for every class role, including head, body, hands, legs, feet, belt, earrings, neck and one ring. For BRD these are called Toxotes set. You should try to get as many of them as you can from AK and upgrade your AF and previous accessories to that. It also costs 900 Mythology tomestones to +1 your relic weapon, so it might be a good idea to save these and think what you want to do with them, as getting them is a bit slow.

2. In addition to AK and Mythology tomestones, there are also second type of tomestones: Philosophy. These are used to buy Darklight gear which is better than the AK gear (it's basically AF < AK < DL < relic). You get them from the AK runs (which should be your first priority because of Mythology tomestone cap and the gear that drops there) and people also farm Castrum Meridianum for these. Philosophy tomes have no weekly cap. Use them to buy Darklight gear and combine that to your AK gear. You also need 900 of these to finish your relic weapon.

3. For weapon, you should start with Grand Company one and then start working on your relic. When you get to Garuda (you have to kill Chimera, Hydra and Ifrit first, but those fights and Garuda can very well be done with the GC weapon), farm the fight enough to get the bow before doing Titan (not necessary but strongly recommended).

I would also recommend getting your subclasses to level 34 to get all the abilities.

How exactly do you unlock the keep? Do you have go through Castrum Makakakadona (I don't care to remember Garlean names cuz screw em)

You get the quest from Vesper Bay or your Grand Company after you've completed main story. You also get the pre-relic quest and Ifrit quest from Vesper Bay at the same time.

I think you might need to do Aurum Vale before Amdapor becomes available.

You don't have to. A guy in my FC did it without Aurum's Vale. The relic quest will unlock it for you. But ya, it's good to do it so you can do the GC quest and advance to second lieutenant.

Unless there is another way I don't know about...If you try and go to Nedric in Vesper's it will tell you that you need Aurum Vale.

Work through the storyline and unlock everything.

You might consider a few runs of Aurum Vale and The Wanderer's Palace before hitting up AK. The drops in AV are ilvl 52 and WP are ilvl 55. Farming a bow from Ifrit HM will help a lot too. These all also give you Tomestones of Philosophy which will help you get your darklight gear. All of this will make your AK experience a bit smoother.

You don't need Aurum Vale if you get the quest to go to AK through your grand company quest line. The leader will send you to AK near the end of the quest line. So thats the other alternative to running Aurum Vale.
