I had the best ARF run today. I went with an FC friend and I load in a little slow and I saw in the FC Chat Box, "This tank." I braced for the worst. The other DPS just went, "LOL." I loaded in and was greeted with the most glorious sight. The tank was Roe in a bath towel and a Fat Chocobo mask. And handsdown, he was easily one of the best tanks I've healed in awhile. I've had tanks in ARF where I through up a shield and/or regen and they'd lose it almost instantly and I'd have to babysit them and do little DPS. Not this guy. He did the biggest pulls he could and putting up both Aspectic Benefics or even just the Regen was all he needed. With my MNK friend and the SMN, everything just melted. It was great.

Doing Brayflox again with my friend whilst I'm learning how to play DRK. Got two people with anime character names, one which I mistook for a DRG. The other is a mentor. Things went fine until the first boss.

The mentor pulled. I asked her not to do that. Her response after we take down the boss? "don't take too long then". Lady I didn't even get a chance to pull because you pulled it before I had a chance. Then I noticed the DRG wasn't a DRG at all, she was a LNC. I asked her if she had her soulstone or not, and the mentor started getting annoyed with me for taking too long when I was asking the LNC a question. She said no, she hadn't got it yet. Me and my friend gave her some friendly advice, just letting her know she should get it ASAP.

The mentor though? She got really annoyed with me for "doing nothing" and pulled. Honestly, in an act of sheer spite I intended to let her die, but the enemies decided to attack my friend so. Maybe that was wrong of me, I'll admit that but >.>;

Rest of the run went fine, though the mentor was continuously being passive aggressive.

Well, remember that on the forums, all tanks are encouraged to stay in DPS stance whenever humanly possible. Better DPS that way; if you're not maximizing your DPS at all times, you're a lazy tank.

Not a DF story, but definitely lulz worthy.

My LS and I decided to do some maps tonight for Aquapolis. We did about ten maps and got about seven dungeons. Out of those seven, 5 of them ended after the first chamber, one after the second, and only 1 got to the fifth. We laughed at our terrible luck. XD

Come to think of it, I could probably have tanked that Stone Vigil in Sword Oath, considering the healer had more aggro from healing than the DPS.

But if I refuse to tank as a DPS or healer, there's no way I'm going to DPS as a tank. I refuse to do someone else's job for them.

Had an amazing Weeping City run with an amazing co-healer. Got to Ozma and C wasn't having very good luck, alliance chat wasn't being too kind to them either. They kept wiping on meteors and couldn't recover when we'd raise their healers. 3rd time through, our alliance was the one to screw up the meteor and 3/8 were still alive. We recovered and cleared that crap.
Get to end boss and suddenly she is NOT facing in a good direction and wipes the entire raid except for like 4 people. Me and the other healer are alive, we raise one healer from each alliance, they LB3, and we all go home happy :D

Trying to get a clear in Nidhogg's Rage, and right now it feels like I'd have better luck clearing Weeping City Savage with an alliance of newbies and no wipes. I've seen the orbs once out of god knows how many runs.

What usually happens:
- There is, without fail, the one person who will die to divebombs. Every. Single. Time (more often than not, my co-healer)
- DPS try to murder each other with circles
- Tanks swap KOs during the add phase
- Blue tethered players stack for Fang, causing Self-Destruct to go off
- DPS/ gear is inadequate despite this being the highest non-raid DPS check in the game
- Players think "have experience up to (phase)" means "have heard of (phase) in passing", wiping the party multiple times

The last one irritates me the most, because calling them out on it usually results in "this is a training party, isn't it?" or "this is such a bad atmosphere!!" when they weren't courteous enough to respect the PF requirements and expect you play teacher. End phase training/ kill parties are not there to waste an hour of their own time mentoring you. If you're not up to par, join a first-timer group.

Today I learned that I as a SCH can use my swiftcast 3x to rez before any other healer will start eventually rezzing...yep I sure learned something

I had a pretty awesome one last night. Normally I despise when as an AST I get nothing but Ewers but this was a blessing because doing Void Ark my party had the ONLY bard in the entire run. Those almost constant ewers kept their MP up for almost the entire run minus the small dry spell here and there. I just thought it was pretty amazing. :3

Had a Summoner say "Well, my parse is higher than hers" (in a different language...) when me and my friends asked them why they were literally spamming Ruin III outside of DWT, basically being out of mp most of the pulls... While I was doing what my smn main friend taught me.

They were at least ilevel 214, I'm ilevel 208.

Next run we had an even higher ilevel summoner but they and I basically did the same things at any given time (although I was slower due to less spell speed)
I see. I understand now. No mp > brutally aoeing everything down. Good to know, I'll finally be a good summoner now.

That AST with more HP than the WAR reminds me of how I as DRG was just less than 1k HP below a newbie WAR in... Arbo? Or something like that? I felt SO BAD they were TRYING SO HARD but Elusive has a cruel, cruel cooldown...

Yeah, I don't know if it was a mistake but that goad on the healer while I was struggling with TP made me cringe.

And the PLD on A8 was so quishy it was impossible to keep him alive with all the tank busters. He died so much to a point his weakness left him with 3 - 5k HP max. D:

My experience with Bards in roulette are either amazing or hilariously sad.

One time I ran Antitower as a WHM, and ended up with a Bard that knew his damage was really low, so halfway through the run he decided to leave Mage's Ballad permanently on so I could spam Holy some more.

Bless his soul. I wish I had the time to give him advice. D:

Ruin 3 outside of DWT isn't a bad thing UNLESS you end up with no mp.....I am guilty of that happening to me bc I go on auto pilot sometimes & I end up standing around like a dumb dumb pretending to be busy & twiddling my thumbs until I regen mp for ruin 1 or find an mp potion I hope I have from chests. But if there is 3 or less enemies you actually can use Ruin 3 until you have 2-3k mp left bc you'll regenerate mp faster than it'll run out bc of aetherflow. That's just for optimum damage though so you don't have to if it feels safer.

Minor thing, but it left me wanting to bash my head on the floor.

Was on an alt, on PGL. Queued for guildhest roulette. Got into the 'Enemy Strongholds' hest (with the frog at the end).
DPS was a BLM and myself (pugilist).
Healer spams fluid aura every chance they get, which also knocks mobs through the gates and binds them there so no one could get them till they were released.
Spams fluid aura on the frog boss, binding it out of bounds.

Tank blames the dps, at the end - "shitty deeps pushing him out of bounds"

We're a BLM and a PGL.
We have no such skill.

WHM friend and I were running Hullbreaker Hard and it all was going fine until the last boss when my friend screwed up on the healing and we wiped. Immediately the tank starts getting rude about it. "learn to heal" and stuff like that. When I interject he goes "any normal tank would have left already". Really? Is that really the norm? To leave after one wipe? I guess I'm an abnormal tank then.

Doing The Sunken Temple of Qarn (Hard) several time for farm Poetics and minutes ago I enter with bonus of new people. And so... Blackout here in city x.x I hope they do not have thought was false dc because had new people :(

the other day i was tanking The Aetherochemical Research Facility with the most impatient group ever. Healer and dps would rush ahead and pull everything they could at once , used sprint every chance they got and whm spammed holy constantly . Best part was even with all of their effort the run wasn't any faster it took about 30 minutes which is about average in my experience. Then the next day I got a group that with people that didn't do any of that and we cleared it in 20 minutes

Beel leveling a some dps to get nin to 60. Healer who WASNT a new player was literally spamming medica in order to heal the tank while dps was taking no damage. As a lvl 60 whm i suggested the healer use cure to heal tank so he wouldnt peel aggro and die repeatedly. 5 seconds later I was kicked. Literally never used cure.

I had the best Vault run last week, and probably the best duty finder party I've ever been in. We had a WAR, BRD, and MCH, with me as WHM. I knew we were going to have a good run because the BRD immediately played Foe's Requiem upon the first pull (and sadly, that is the only BRD I have come across this month that has played Foe's without me having to ask). In addition to that, the MCH threw out an MP turret. The same thing happened for every pull, and I was literally holy spamming for days; it was AMAZING. I was practically another DPS in that party. The WAR knew their stuff well, and a regen was more than enough to keep them up.

Now I have always been uncomfortable about DPSing during the last boss (heck, I NEVER DPS during the last boss except for the Holy Flame balls phase), but everyone was so on point that I only had to heal when unavoidable AOE damage went out. As a result, I was able to DPS for the whole fight. The run was finished in 20 minutes, and I so badly wanted to give everyone a commendation. :(

I often cast it normally while I've got 3 aetherflows, and after doing a fester if its like 1 - 2 enemies I'll weave in Ruin III and Energy Drain twice, then switch into Dreadwyrm stance, usually by this point Tri-Disaster is up so I throw that on and do the Dreadwyrm rotation which by then another aetherflow should be up so I can repeat the process.

though if 2 - 4 enemies I'll always bane and painflare and not cast Ruin III outside of trance.

Hey, it was Tam-Tara, right? No problem. Our AST actually kept the WAR alive, and at the first set of orbs an Aetherial Breastplate dropped as loot. I have probably never seen 3 people hit "PASS" that quickly, ever.

Just had an odd run in Lost city, Archer yelled at someone in the party after the first boss, I hope it wasn't me as I have the fight recorded. I didn't mess up the fight and aim at people. Oddly enough he did once , but shit happens. Nothing too bad honestly. I got both comms from the Healer and Tank... which is a first for a monk 8D PS4 recordings FTW

I was the healer since in the nidhogg dungeon to complete my Anima quest.

The tank started without tank stance and ran into the mob, quickly disconnecting after that.

We fought the mobs and got through somehow. Before we could kick the tank after 5 minutes, he returned.

As excuse for not using tank stance and other stuff, he said he had a new computer. Yeah, right...

We managed to get through the dungeon without the tank holding aggro even once and asking to get kicked.

Dragoon took the tanking there and I stance danced my way through, too.

Almost before nidhogg, when he pulled a mob and did nothing than standing there we didn\\'t even bother to interfere. He died a cruel lonely death, abandoned by his comrades who he tried to entrap with his purposely bad playing.

Since he did nothing, we finally kicked him for being afk, a friend helped as tank, then we killed nidhogg without any issues.

So this nightmare ended with a happy ending.

Hey, I hate it when tanks get too focused on dps-ing too, but I tanked a couple runs of Sohr Khai today that would ended in tears if I hadn't contributed to the dps. Whenever possible I prefer to just stay in my tank stance, buteven a lazy sod like me knows that when your dps teammates are genuinely struggling with a boss fight, you'd have to be a jerk not to help out.

Joined an in-progress Sephirot for my trial roulette, there were warrior and dark knight, white mage and scholar, a monk, three BLMs (one of them being me), a first time message and an echo boost of 10%. As soon as I load in, the DRK pulls, not even giving the healers the time to cast Protect for me :D Whatever, the tanks and me are the only ones not getting hit by that AOE attack Sephirot turns himself to the party for (whatever it's called, I don't know any attack names of this guy), thus I'm a bit worried about how many firsttimers are even here. Things are fine except for this attack though, we make it past the Ultimate and then wipe at the second Storm of Words not getting killed fast enough.

Now this is where the true fun begins.
After the healers Protect and Stoneskin us, the DRK pulls again without noticing that the other two BLMs left. We never get a replacement, so it's up to the monk and me having to meet a bunch of DPS checks. I don't think we make it past the Ultimate, but everyone is trying, and so am I. We enter add phase, kill everything, wait for the Ultimate... and survive! And we kill the first Storm of Words! And we kill the second one! Everyone is on point, it's too amazing. Then the scholar gets knocked off the platform, whatever, the WHM just soloheals! Unfortunately at one point the tanks start ignoring the towers, so we wipe nonetheless with Sephirot being at 30%.

Now we have an echo boost of 30% and half an hour left for the duty, we can totally make it, so I cheer the party up for another try. Too sad they're not as excited about what just happened as I am, so they just vote abandon :(

I run Ex primals pre-HW regularly on week-ends SYNC. The number of fails in those trials is just incredible and by noneless by 230ilvl fully greared that allow themselves to call losers other players, NEW players, for dying when they themselves all they do is repeatedly face tank Shiva and get one shotted by the sword attack, attack Ramuh without bothering to collect the orbs and get one shotted or keep putting more then one circle on charmed people and kill them, dont move on the ship and get thrown overboard on Levi and this not once or twice but repeatedly even if repeatedly explained and told is just baffling. Sometimes I Wonder if they are just trolls or do it on purpose or just seriously believe that they can win like that.

So many more that bluntly tell others to ignore mechanics and just attack as people are all wayyyyy overgeared when is a sync run and to go and play unsync because is way easier and then leave a party that for many of them waited hours to have a chance to try.

Yep, all I can say is.....EX runs (namely Shiva, Levi and Ramuh for now) are really fun. On the other hand, it holds a very large palette of players, from new to experimented, from patient to impatient players and at times, just at times, you get that group that repeatedly end up together as they are seemingly the only ones runing those ex during that day that, by will power and stubborness, finally make it...is so much gratifying when it happens that is all Worth it..I would recommend it to anyone !

Amdapor Keep (Hard), I'm with my boon ( DRK ), a BLM and a DRG.

BLM is on point as is my tank. The DRG however thought it'd be wise to pull before the tank- probably under the impression that I'd hoist him up and get him out of the fire. Instead, it would be wise to let the aggro go straight to my tank and to also give a hint that the DPS should know his role... so I let him die. He does this a second time a few more pulls after. Everyone in the group is also outDPSing him. He even had the nads to pull before my tank entered into the next area ( he was phasing to it, his connection is slower so it took a few more seconds ).

This DRG was also quite squishy and he kept kiting the adds anyway whenever he got the enmity he so desired. If my tank were to make an effort to reclaim the aggro, it'd be a waste of time chasing him and I honestly wondered if the DRG was doing it to be an ass and screw up the run.

Leveling Duty Roulette: Stone Vigil, as a WHM. No new messages, but our tank was obviously a newer player (I didn't check his info, outside his sprout icon). The run was painfully slow, with the tank stopping between every mob, I assume to talk to his FC/LS, as I don't think TP is that hard to manage with such small pulls and decent DPS, myself included once he decided to turn on defiance. Bard (may have been a different class, he drops out later in the story, but we'll go with bard) gear drops from the bonus room after the second boss, and the tank demands the BRD to pass it for him to complete his collection. They don't because the BRD actually needed the gear, as they weren't sync'd. The tank then asked (tells) them to trade it to him. I told him they're untradable and a boost to DPS, so there's no reason to pass. He gets mad, the 2 exchange words, the BRD rage quits, insert new DPS. After that, his delay between pulls get longer to the point that our MNK would initiate battles and with no tank in sight, I just healed thru the damage. It was much faster than waiting for our tank to finish his LS conversations. We get to the room with the 3 Aevis'. The tank asks (tells) us to wait on TP (first time he's mentioned TP the entire dungeon), of course we all wait, but he stands too close and face pulls them, then types "WTF" as if we did it. -.- Eventually, we make it to the last boss and the tank says something about making sure we watch the ground for the AOE markers. I found that amusing after the fact, since he was the only one getting hit by them and up to this point we had not given any kind of indication that the 3 of us were unaware of the dungeon's mechanics. We survive, tank pulls a macro asking to rate him with a comm. He did not get it from me and judging from what I received, he didn't get it from the DPS either. Whelp. Just another day in DF.

Did 60 roulette today, got ARF like always.
On our way to the boss room tank (I think) mentions this is one of the fastest runs he's had in here. (Comp was me as BRD, AST, SMN, and PLD).
It is very fast, great stuff.
We beat the boss and leave. I got all three comms; I was so surprised.... :'D

The 3 of us (me on SCH) kicked butt after the DRK dc'd right before calca. Wish I could commend you both <3

To be honest, I was not in a good mood upon entering. I just wanted to get in and get it done, the above was just enough for me to contemplate letting them pull everything, dying and then calling em a fleabag (was a Miquote) before quitting for the night.

I was doing my roulettes early in the afternoon today. We're in the middle of AFR when my phone goes off. It's a text so I ignore it and then my phone starts ringing. So I pick it up, put it on speaker, and keep healing.

It's my best friend, she's in the hospital and about to have her first kid.

I start crying, she starts crying, we start squealing--people within earshot thought we were fucking weird.

And I... forgot I was in the run and ran out the door.

[EDIT] For anyone curious: mama is doing super amazing. She was born with a pretty severe heart issue so she had a C-Section and she has to stay a couple days to make sure she's really strong before she goes anywhere (but everything went well and she's going to be perfectly okay. They just don't want her to stress out her body). Baby boy is strong and healthy and getting lots of daddy tlc while mama is resting. And I am one super excited and proud godmother (though I'm wondering when I get the fairy part? I'm pretty sure that was in the fine print).

Friday, 24th July. I’m currently leveling Astrologian, so decide to run the highest possible dungeon for practice. Aurum Vale. For some reason all of the tanks we get leave the moment they zone in, followed by all the damage dealers, safe a quite friendly Miqo’te ninja girl. We clear some of the trash after an Au’ra joins but there is only so much we can do without a tank, so the horned one leaves. Our next random buddy, a male Elezen, declares he will wait five minutes before leaving. I cross my fingers, leave and requeue as a tank in the hopes of getting in the same instance.

Sadly, I get sorted into a new group. The healer says she was new to healing and seems pretty anxious (Aurum Vale can be a pain even for experienced healers), so we proceed carefully, giving tips and me turtling it. A few wipes while getting the hang of it and we finish it all in a good mood.

I do want to try Aurum Vale as Astrologian, so I queue again. No sooner has the barrier fallen, the tank bolts off, pulling EVERYTHING, without much effort to keep it to herself. I spam everything I can, hit Lightspeed for instant heals but we still die. Some mobs get dragged to the entrance where they start nibbling on us the moment we respawn. After a while we somehow find ourselves all together and alive, so I start buffing, then... déjà vu. With mobs at our heels, we run for dear life to the entrance and out of the dungeon. I start thinking Aurum Vale must be cursed this Friday.

I still want to do Aurum Vale as an Astrologian. Good luck this time, it goes rather normal but still not as smooth as usual. At the end one of the DPS (?) expresses his bewilderment at suddenly playing worse than usual. My fears of the Friday curse intensify, so I do not queue again.

Later that night, we have a FC run of the Expert Roulette. Sohr Khai, my favourite. Moglin went slower than usual, followed by one wipe for each of the other two bosses. Buddies apologizing, wondering what’s happening…
There was definitely something fishy going on that Friday, I tell you.
