Drop it. You're embarrassing yourself.
We are still talking about this? Ultima Weapon starting its second cast of Ultima (let's call that its Enrage) is based on it reaching 30% health during the second phase of the fight, irrelevant how long your party takes to get to that point. OPs post clearly describes that both the healer and summoner died (which can only happen while Ultima is still dishing out attacks, so before he goes into casting Ultima mode) and that it was just the tank and the remaining DPS who were up for the whole final cast segment of the fight.
So while people can be as dissatisfied with the healer as they like, what actually wiped the party that run was not the healer's rotation, but the fact they and one of the dps were dead through the entire dps check.
The other take away is that the damage percentages we were shown can only be pretty flawed because they were recorded only from the point that OP switched them on well into the fight, and clearly if the healer and summoner were dead for the last 30% of the boss' health bar, then of course that is going to push down their contribution, right?
Was leveling my alt job yesterday (RDM) and did the Daily Trial Roulette for the day. Duty popped, hit accepted, and loaded into the Garuda and Ifrit trial. Party composition looks ok, got a WHM and SGE as healers, WAR and GNB as tanks, and even a viper! Ok, lets rock it.
Duty starts and I start spamming through my RDM stuff. I am not confident with that job yet, but I mean, I start casting my stuff. First Garuda telegraphed attack is that wind blade thing, both healers eat it. Directly after is a raid wide......neither healer made it.
Ok....thats fine....I am high enough level that I get to be the res mage so I do my thing. *note* no other party members can res (which should normally be fine)
Get them up, forget lucid dreaming exists, and fight progresses.Garuda's next mechanic is that wind puff ball thing and a wall push. Easy.....well...ok so I forgot the wind puffs got pushed so I got hit but luckily the healers were hit right next to me so we will be healed quick!....right?..guys?.....umm....fine ok Ill heal myself? Oh! I remembered lucid dreaming exists now so I pop that. My damage is abysmal at this point because I had to res a healer another time before this.
Moving onwards, we get to Ifrit soccer ball. I am back into my RDM rotation and then I notice Ifrit jump away and then I can't help but watch the whole party just scatter and dance around...no one knew where to go I just started laughing and by the time I got to the safe zone I got clipped also (LMAO) and we all met a death soon after.
Ok, party wipe. Not a big deal, probably got new people here all good. Look at healers, one sprout and one returner, ok seems alright to me. DPS is a mix of sprouts and regular players, tank is a mentor I think? All good, lets go round number 2.
...I really wish I had a different story for round 2...but people kept getting hit by the same mechanics...Same people seemed to get hit by the same things. The biggest difference? I actually made sure to use my lucid dreaming on cooldown so I could maybe have enough mana to cast spells between res's. We actually got to the merged Ifruda thing died after.
Round 3, death...I don't think I have ever res'd so much in a game...even as a healer. We get to the end again and I finally die because I just can't anymore....my last action? resing the returner healer. We are all yelling "LB3! PLEASE LB3! PLEASE PLEASE YOU CAN DO IT"..........................
Round 4, I play like round 3 but res harder and lucid dream more....(how?)....last thing someone says before we leave? "Thank god we had a red mage"
I think I found one of my new favorite jobs *swoons*
I sense previous trauma. Was a 12 min backfill for Pagla'than, was met by this.

It seems we're not quite fully out of the DDoS woods yet.
Let me tell you my tragic story of the day:
M3, boss has less than 10% hp, only a tank and one or 2 other dps left hanging on for dear life, the SMN raises me before dying themselves. I rez and immediately cast healer LB3 for a glorious comeback like we haven't seen since Endsinger (or Seat of Sacrifice, take your pick).... and the boss does his aoe stomp thingy, interrupting and killing me mid cast. I never felt filthier
I offended a tank in tam tara normal by going ahead as a MCH. Sprout healer was even onboard. Before we even got to the first... boss? if it can even be called that, they then ate a 30 minute penalty and I guess the arcanist left after the tank did.
Got replacements easily but hoo boy people need to touch grass. Almost demonstrated how painfully easy it is to do an early dungeon with an aoe-capable dps and a conjurer. Their loss since I got out of the duty not even 1/3 into their penalty. Remember boys and girls (and robots) that by refusing to tank you're technically griefing the party even if your presence is optional! I've opened that can of worms, not sorry.
Well its finally happened after all these years. I've finally been yelled at for using Holy as a WHM. Never thought I'd see the day. The tank goes as far as refusing to turn down effects from other players to help solve the problem. Go figure. This was in a run of Sohm Al (Hard).
It made dealing with the slimes at the last part a pain from having to spam Repose instead of just popping Holy every now and then. Dungeon also went noticeably slower than usual because of the lack of all that extra DPS from Holy and the extra healing necessary (tank was practically being eaten alive on several of the bigger pulls).
Healer AoE DPS definitely makes a difference as much as these two might think otherwise. I've tanked dungeons plenty of times with low or no-dps healers before and its always quite a bit slower than with ones who do go all out.
https://www.questwizard.net/ffxivstu...mplainers1.jpg
No clue. The fact they refused to consider turning the effects off is what really had me scratching my head if its such a problem. I wonder what they do if any of the more flashbang-y DPS classes end up in their party.
Healer drops a "literally", tank says "I like all effects but not all effects", and VPR apologizes for capitalizing an acronym. Good show.
So this isn't a tale from Duty Finder, but instead, a tale from Party Finder. I had joined a farm party for EX1 Friday night, and said right off the bat, I'm rusty on the fight, please be patient, because I haven't touched the fight since 7.0. PL said that was fine. We filled, we went in, and though we wiped a couple times, mostly because again, I was rusty, so I took the blame for the wipes, on the third pull, we cleared, and the mount drops, everyone rolls.
I win with a 74, then I said I'll stay for a few more runs, because I didn't want to loot and scoot. We went back in again, mount didn't drop. Then when we get out, this happened.
https://i.imgur.com/Xms4mfg.png
Apparently offering to stay for a few more runs after winning a mount isn't courtesy, but charity.
Were those 3 from Excalibur all friends or something? lol Wouldn't be surprised if they were losing their minds in private chat or something then one of them decided to pipe up with...whatever this is. lol
I have no idea, but the PL was also from Excalibur, and was confused (they're the one that said "ok then lol"). The hilarious part was, Mr. I Don't Need Your Charity rolled a 23, the second highest was a 71. Maybe they thought I didn't deserve the mount, when it's literally all RNG.
So the duty ai is still something else, or the ai has a grudge against one another.
I was leveling up my Trusts through Malikah's Well on an alt (late I know, I'm catching them up eventually), I'm on DRK. Decided to bring Urianger, Alisae and Y'shtola through to get them to 81. Everything's mostly fine until the last boss.
Urianger eats two crossbeams from the first Heretic's Fork, Alisae raises him. He gets up, immediately drops Transcendent right as the southernmost fork goes off and dies again.
Alisae instead of raising him just...leaves him on the floor for over a minute and instead spams Vercure on me to make sure I don't die, then decides to raise him.
Whatever sort of argument these two had prior to the dungeon, leave me out of it. D:
Haven't wrote anything as of recently so I thought it'd be entertaining to share this one time I've discovered a new pet peeve that I never thought I had since long ago.
Duty: M3N, for weekly loot.
Me: WHM
Alright, what do I get? Not-1st-timer-AST cohealer that sits permanently on Brink of Death from 65% boss health till the end. One good DRK who barely needs attention. Five other average DFers.
So what exactly my pet peeve is? Seeing "healer lb3!! kdjasdhfds" in chatbox when things go haywire with no regard to on going situation. Said situation: (a)Four deads, incl co-AST; (b)Just survived a stack marker with around 30% health remaining on alive members except tanks, and; (c)Brute Bomber is about to execute Brutal Impact in less than 5s or so.
O' Sweet summer child... LB3 locks me in place for a good while... if I execute that, who's going to heal you through the upcoming Brutal Impact? That Brink of Death AST? Err... sorry no. I don't trust that idea lol. I'll heal us four before LBing, thank you.
Thankfully RNGesus is being nice to me this week with the loots...
To be honest, it's relatively rare in this game to have people calling for the lb3 healer too... insistently, you might say. But when it does happen, good God.
‘LB3 healer’ > no, there's only two deaths, you've fallen on your head.
‘LB3 healer > no, I give priority to those who are still standing, thank you very much.
‘LB3 healer’ > no, I want to be able to position myself so as not to get rekt during, thank you.
I picked Expert and choose WAR for "easy mode" and hit the button. Seconds later -pop. I write my greeting as usual and get RDM, AST, BLM as my weapon of choice
to stomp "The Strayborough Deadwalk".
First pull a little slow on purpose to test the waters - everybody awake, no blips or sleepers. Took a hot minute but still in a "A-ok" timeframe. So "wall to wall" it is.
I go and something odd caugth my attention:
First the RDM heals me every couple of GCD's - Attack, Attack, Heal, repeat.
Secondly the AST spams Helios as if his/her life depends on it - pre pull, in pull, after pull, at the chest ... dear lord i bet if possible that AST would probably cast helios even in cutscences.
Very odd but hey if this hits the "spot" for you, cool. But then first boss, that muppet thing with the crown, panick running around like headless moogle on crack. RDM and AST die fast and hard multiple times before both of them ,at the same time, getting "muppeted out of existence". BLM and me choose to kill the boss alone because we are already at 18%.
And first "red flag" appears - RDM let us know, that it is rude not to reset. I type an "ok will not repeat that" and BLM makes fun of RDM - i will not repeat it here because it was an joke on the name of said player. Pulls start to take a lot of time because RDM starts to educate us about how evil BLM is - thats over the top BS and RDM is just "mimimiiii" so i just ignored it for the sake of the run.
Then second Boss and AST drops a bomb with how the BLM "all-the-ist-words" is and how hard and strong AST and RDM will report this and how brutally we all get punished - i did nothing and ignored them but ok. RDM is now typing like a redditor, at least AST is doing something even its only hammering Helios - Star, Div and all the useless buttons of an AST are missing on his/her keyboard it seems.
After that the last pull and Boss feel like an Ultimate but we made it.
My Roulette expierence is normally uneventful and smooth but hot damn by the juicy rear of Zenos what hell was this? I thought those people are a myth made up to scare players. In retrospective the most hurtfull and annyoing thing to me was the heal spam and the ignorance of tank cd , i am a WAR. What are you doing?
I guess I upset a sprout. Suzaku normal in trials. I'll just give a tl;dr:
Tank has issues staying alive, BLM dies to tankbuster. I later die to autos on SAM.
I comment asking how did I die with 2 tanks D: , and since I was left on the floor for like a solid minute I went "No raise, youtube time!" (no insults, no nameshaming, just a fact of life that I'm just going to tab if I can't participate until I get raised, even showing the excitement I can tab out at no penalty).
Sprout tank drops this line: "typical mentor attitude"
I retort back: "Typical stereotype attitude. I wasnt being rude you dingus".
Sprout Tank: complaining that you got no raise isnt rude, got it
-----Fight Ends----
Me: You do you then. I cant unmake thoughts in your head
Sprout Tank: should check yuour own tone
My dear summer child... TEXT HAS NO TONE. He already placed the suggestion in his own head that I am apparently a monster. How horrible of a person I am to do 2000 mentor roulettes, helping people through extremes without bailing (some even HW and one titania!). Even caught some random guy a titantic sawfish because I could!
But no, this is what draws the line. Dying to autos and saying I'll just tab for a bit.
Edit: Actually not sure they were a sprout, but by the gods stop being so incredibly offended over nothing.
Dear AST I just had in the 91 dungeon on my alt GNB:
Why? Why on earth do you spam Benefic 1 and Aspected Benefic when you've got so much more available in your jobkit? You're 94. You have the following available in a 92 cap dungeon: Exaltation, Collective Unconscious, Celestial Opposition, Horoscope, Lightspeed, Gravity II, and Neutral Sect. While you did make use of Celestial Intersection, Macrocosmos, Essential Dignity and Aspected Helios, they were barely used or overused on every single pull on top of your Benefic 1 spam. Anytime I get a healer that spams their most basic weakest heal, I take it as an invitation on GNB to invuln. To which I did twice that run.
I also do not know why you were sticking to me during the moving windwhistle thingy on the last boss, and it resulted in your death. Luckily you came prepartied with a RDM who was able to scrape you off the floor, almost twice when you did the same thing again.
Please, I'm begging you, read your tooltips. And also please, update your right side gear. 610 materia'ed gear is probably the strangest thing I've seen on a healer in a very long while, especially when you could easily farm p9-12 for accessories if you were desperately in need and had spent your tomes elsewhere. You've also got 8 lvl 100 jobs, so you should know what you can and can't do in pulls and have access to better gear.
I'm not trying to put your butt on full blast, but with what you were doing and wearing I'm honestly more intrigued than mad.
Sincerely,
One intrigued GNB
So... I'm in C.
B Tank pulls Bone Dragon in the middle. Both C and B get wiped by skeletons (Despite Sacred Soil + Fey Illumination) and A survives with only a few members. They still can't kill it, so the fight is reset. I haven't wiped to Bone Dragon in... what, 5 or 6 years? C Tank pulls for majority of second attempt. B Tank provokes near the end, flips dragon 180° cleaves all of C with Disease, but we clear fight.
I ask B Tank to please not pull if they don't know what they're doing.
B hops off Pad during Atoms and has to be told to go back by me and a couple other C people.
We reach Vassagos. B pulls in wrong place. B Tank pulls all Vassagos, and someone (not me this time) has to ask for them to be separated.
Napalms aren't getting killed, I ask for Napalm kills, as center bomb is growing dangerously big.
All of B starts chatting and has now decided I'm a ragey no-skill hostile player for calling them out and asking for mechanics to be done.
https://imgur.com/BhCD6wb.png
Edit: Re-ran LOTA (farming poetics for Anima) and it was the smoothest thing ever. Joking about stairs before Vassagos, something about bones for the Bone Dragon, our GNB tried to Bolide Behemoth's meteor and we learned it doesn't work. It was a fun run.
Been a while since I posted here. I got a quick one. I was in Zor-something Gor-something, the mountain hiking expedition thing, when after the very first pull... after the VERY FIRST PULL... the tunk suddenly vanished. No lie. He did. He was there one second, and at some point between the time the last mob died and right before the three of us ran into the next group, I counted heads and saw only three. I didn't even notice the tunk leave. I mean tank. I didn't notice the TANK leave. It was bizarre...
Would like to get an opinion on whether I'm being unreasonable here, but I just tried out the new raid for the first time today (been sick the past week) and said as much in chat at the start of the raid ("First time"). Is it wrong to expect spot healing when I fail mechanics? The first boss of the raid has a pretty nasty dot and even with self healing I wasn't able to make it through the next raidwide. After dying 3 times and being left on the floor after the third I decided to just eat the 30 min penalty and leave.
Like, I know it's a pain to babysit someone who keeps failing mechanics, but it was literally my first time and I was trying to stand where other people were. Am I wrong for wanting to actually be able to play on my first time through it?
Not really if you were doing your best to understand how you died and tried to do better each time. It does irk me when a healer has a chance to actually have to do some serious healing to ensure a party members safety, something that a lot of healers want to be in this game, and then they don't embrace the challenge. Hopefully your next run goes better.
It went a lot better! Still made some mistakes, but I picked up the mechanics pretty quickly, I think only one death the whole raid
Made sure to thank the healers (there were quite a few deaths generally) and comm'd one of them XD
It depends. In general, I favour newcomers in a run as much as possible. But new or not, you never come before the survival of the whole group, never before the healer or the tank + there are times when that's impossible. On this boss, if you die from the damage inflicted after his punch, the problem most of the time is that people are dispatched and you're therefore inaccessible. The time it takes to run towards you, even with a dash, and you're dead. There are also potential mana problems, etc.Quote:

In short, it's... Hard to say, without more context. I don't really like untimely leaves though, but once again it's impossible to know if you were too impatient unless you specify how long you were left on the ground.
Ah, to add more context I seemed to be the only first timer and the only one failing mechanics. I can't say how the rest of the raid went after the first fight, but for that one the party was mostly in good health. The only heals going out were minimal ones to top off raidwides.
Conversely in the second run there were a lot more first timers and the healers were scrambling to keep people alive, but they did well.
Speaking for my personal style, whenever I am healing, I look at it like this, it takes approximately 3.2 GCD worth of cast time to hardcast a rez, which totals to roughly ~1000 potency worth of damage, it varies a little per Healer, can the DPS that is floortanking deal at least ~1000 potency worth of damage, even under Brink of Death, before they risk dropping again? if the answer is yes, I will gladly hardcast that rez, it will a benefit to the whole raid if they are up and doing damage, and if they are dropping that fast... eh... I am still going to rez them, just they will need to wait for the Swift to come back, no matter how sucky a player is, it just doesn't sit right with me to outright refuse to do the job I que'd for, doubly so if they are a first timer.
I get upset only if people get uppity with me, earlier this week I had a wipe on Cerberus in WoD, I was on SGE and died because the Wolvesbane adds attacked me and no Tank even tried picking them up, very quickly we are at a position where every Healer except one in another alliance is dead, we call for off-Alliance rezzes on chat, and completely ignored, we inevitably wipe, and I am still just vibing, it happens, I will just be more careful with the adds next run and bruteheal through them if needed... then the Healer that went radio silent earlier tries to yell at the raid for "not paying attention", and that is the point where I went from "just vibing" to completely livid, we wiped specifically because they were ignoring calls, the fight was completely salvageable if they had done their job, and the wipe was solely on their back, and they have the audacity to act like that? anyway, so long as you aren't acting like that, I will put up with most things, the real job of the Healer is to fix other people's mistakes anyhow.
Hm. I'm not sure about your example: in practical terms he shouldn't have ignored the calls, but the primary fault lies with the other members. OK, his reaction is unsympathetic, but it's not ‘his fault’ or ‘his job’. A healer's job is normally to keep an eye on his team-mates, not all three alliances at once. The wipe is well and truly due to those who were killed unnecessarily / the tank that didn't taunt in your case.Quote:

All anyone was asking is throw a rez to another Healer, it's a common thing to do in alliances when things go astray, if I am healing and my alliance is doing fine, I will throw rezzes at a different alliance that is struggling even if both Healers are alive, all 24 players are ultimately working together there, and like I said, what ticked me off is the attitude, someone who had it within their power to avoid the outcome they were complaining about, and didn't even try to do it, is what ticks me off, crossing your arms and going "Well, I am not going to do it because it's not explicitly my job" is an attitude that helps nobody, especially not yourself, it's the same reason I will try my best to power through repeated player deaths, or why RDM/SMN who are able to salvage an encounter after the Healers bite it are valued.
People also need to be less averse to hardcasting rezzes, it's annoying but sometimes you just gotta do it, just make sure you are in a safe spot, usually immediately after a mechanic resolves is safe enough, and let that cast bar flow, but I did see a RDM hardcasting Verraise once, so maybe that was my monkey's paw moment.
The question isn't really whether or not he should have done it - I agree with you on that, even though I don't know what really happened and there may have been concerns that you didn't see. It's more the mentality of assuming that the fault lies with the player who couldn't compensate for the mistake that bothers me in your message: the mistake should be attributed to the player who made it, not to the guy who couldn't catch up for X or Y reason.
Here's an anecdote: I recently played Troïa in a dungeon. I was exhausted and died miserably against the secnod boss (yes, it's humiliating). The tank then took a ‘doom’, then yelled at the bard for not having the reflex to dispel. The bard really should have done it, but I defended him because the real worry was me, who had died pitifully as if I'd just started the game a fortnight ago. Not the bard, who just hadn't been able to compensate for my mistake.
Anyway, that's a bit of nitpicking on my part (... And probably a fair bit of ‘I'm fed up with people always blaming the healers :p ). That said, to pick up on another point: I've got the impression that people tend to have too much of a hardrez reflex? I've come across cohealers a few times who had the reflex to raise at all costs without taking into account the upcoming mechanics (and therefore the fact that they were going to be immobilised for a while).
Usually I will play SMN on raids I'm familiar with so I can throw out combat resses. Nier raids are STILL a pretty good example of a hardcast res coming in clutch sometimes lol
It's about the extremes, not the ‘normal’ runs, but please, when you sign up for a group that ‘farms’: if you have to ask if we all have to stay together behind the same meteors, then you're not ready for the ‘farm’ :(
