"You pull, you tank" is a bad mentality

im not one to pull if im no tank, but i dont complain either if someone else is doing it. tanks have to look way more to the group than most of them apparaently do. if the healer uses 80% of his time to cast dmg spells then there is something wrong with how many enemies a tank pulls. he straight up prevents the healer from doing what a healer is made to do.

sure a tank has to pull the right amount so the group doesnt die... that amount is not reached if the healer has time to deal dmg or standing around doing nothing

Why is getting threat such a problem? Just push the button. This isn't the era of regen peeling or tabbing between mobs to spread out your threat across multiple targets, nor is it the era where there's much need for the party to focus on a individual targets.

It's fine if the healer gets smacked a few times. Just push the button. If a tank spaces out and a frog wants to get affectionate with a dps? I hope they get along.

That said, the highlight of Stormblood scholar for me was just shrugging and tanking for the tank when they refused to pull. Kicking a tank like that before the last boss room was pretty funny for the rest of us.

If you're in a random group then let the Tank do it. They typically know how much punishment they can take before it's too much. Not to mention that some healers may not be experienced enough to have everything pulled at once.

Course this isn't really an issue anymore as expansions added in way more stop gates, so Tanks have less to pull before stopping.

What if I’m the healer, pulling, because I’m experienced and know how much punishment I can let the tank take?

Tank needs to do their job and not have a hissy fit

And how does the Tank know this? And how do you know the Tank knows how to keep up and cycle mitigation? Especially if they now have multiple more packs pulled in than what they weren't expecting?

A good healer isn't selfish. They consider the rest of the group too. You should try that some time.

Not to mention that overpulling really only exists in aar and hw content as stormblood and up have a lot more stop. You know, all the content where Tanks have far less resources at their disposal?

I don’t need the tank to know. I just need them to hit their aoe combo. That’s it. Mitigation would be a bonus but unnecessary. Tanks in here crying because they can’t use the same 2 buttons plus mitigation against 8 mobs instead of 4.

Other option is when the healer is absolutely sure they can do their job well, they can pull for the tank too.

DPS have no business pulling, though.
