So maybe after they get transfers sorted, we can get the kind of services you would expect like.... more fantasia!
apparently miqote "butts" is more important
No, the general consensus of FFXIV community is:
-RMT, even Sanctioned by the company = Bad.
SE already stated they have no plans for a cash shop for XIV at this time, the problem with thinking "x is more important" is SE appears to not answer the same question and topic numerous times lol.
But this is not a "cash shop" it's a personal service, it's no different from server transfers. We have already discussed this multiple times... even if they don't want to sell Fantasia, they should at least make it available by other means.
GC Seals
One with EVERY veteran reward
Crafting recipe
Rare drop
the list goes on.
Cash Shop is general term used for selling in-game items of any caliber. The only reason people didn't consider SE selling us 'in-game items' is as RMT is because we were buying physical products with an in-game item code, unless you're talking about them doing something like that?
I support this 100%. I've read through this thread and come to the conclusion that some people are quite insane, I really cannot fathom some of the negative responses here, what someone spends their money on has absolutely eff all to do with anyone else as long as it doesn't affect them. If anything I think it may have made me a little bit insane myself trying to get my head around some of the comments. It's a CHOICE and affects no one else in any way. Seriously...I just....you know?
I will take you seriously the day you allow my tank to pay 5000 dollars to get a full i110 set to faceroll any content; it certainly affects the group of people I choose to play with, but if they are ok and it certainly doesn't affect you, why don't you want me to have that option?
A lot of players here, came running away from the free mmorpgs and there lame cash shops.
I think the last thing they want is a cash shop in a p2p mmorpg..
I think it would be a good ideia if Fantasia was added into the Gand Company shop. That way we would have more stuff to try to gather seals for.
I think you're making mountains out of a molehill with that statement. But come back when they do this and we'll rue the day, but until then let's not go over-board on the exaggerations.
Me wanting to change from a Female Miqo'te to a Male Miqo'te has nothing to do with purchasing gear. For a development team that are strongly against pay-to-win, people certainly aren't very trusting of them in this thread.
This is a standard MMO service, they rake in the extra dollah, we get an appearance change, we go back to playing the game.
Personally, I don't care if its cash, or in-game currencies. As long as its re-obtainable, but speculating the marketing strategies of a Japanese MMO publisher really isn't something any of us can do effectively.
Drama, Drama.
Is the Barber shop confirmed for 2.1? I'm considering using my fantasias to change my characters hair color and style lol should I just wait and hope?
Going F2P when it becomes profitable is also another "standard MMO service", do you want SquareEnix to do that to?
As for the gear vs fantasia: you were previously refering to a "it is ok, because it doesn't affect you". I used the same argument to motivate why I should be able to pay 5k dollars to buy i110 gear for my tank. Evidently, your previously provided reason for why you think it is okay to sell Fantasia for $ is not sufficient.
As for "Pay to Win": which competition are we actually winning? There is no PvP and even if there was, the purchasable gear can be designed so that it can't be used in PvP.
This is the most ignorant comment I have read yet... Fantasia is a liquid that lets you change the appearance of your character... It's doesn't add skills or any special effect it lets you change the way your character looks... How can you compare that to gear? And how does that affect you or a group? Thats like saying yeah if you shave your head im gonna be effected... Maybe you should know what your talking about before you start talking...
Changing your appearance doesn't effect playing stats, I don't see the issue for people wanting it or how it gets implemented. In a game where it's geared to play just on the one character something like this should of been available from the start! people love vanity options for their game characters so they don't get bored staring at the same thing for a few years.
Stop humouring the troll please.
How does it affect you that a tank that you never ever will play with, buys a i110 set from the item mall? It is starting to sound like: "Neither things really affect me, but you can't have that but you can have the other thing, simply because I say so, sometimes I will even call you "troll" to prove my point".
And again before someone else points towards the "buuuuut, buuut, thats paytoooowiiiin": which competition would that person be winning? There is no pvp, and even if there was, the item mall set can be made to not be allowed in PvP.
Because we could be racing for world/server first. Even if he doesn't care, I might. We are also competing for group spots. You say we might never meet, but there is no way of knowing that at all. That is how it is different, even though this is a PVE game, we are in competition to some degree.
A fix to deal with racing first, which I find to be a valid concern: SquareEnix could simply state that players who use such gear do not count as server first, or just lock the gear out from content for which there has not been a server first yet.
As for competing for group spots: there is a shortage of tanks, the competition is therefore minimal. If we are going to take consideration to such minimal effect, we may as well take consideration to those who find it immersion-breaking to see people change their entire body. In a FF game, story and immersion should triumph competitiveness in order of importance.
Finally, if people find it important to compete about PvE-related things, then it is very much valid to compete about aesthetics-related things, which is another reason for why neither items that help you in the pve of a game in any form or things that affects the aesthetics of your character or your surroundings should ever be purchasable in an "Item mall".
And if a person finds it ridiculous to compete in aesthetics, then I can simply point to any RL fashion contest. Furthermore, I would also point out that for hardcore PvPers, competing in PvE is laughable :D.
the arguments against it are the same arguments as to why we should never have an expansion. It gives access to gear and loot and new jobs that regular subscribers can't have.
What's wrong with selling a char or gender change? I don't wanna see cosmetic armor in the store, or cosmetic mounts. An appearance changer is a SERVICE. I don't mind SERVICES being sold. Services like Renames, Gender / Body / Race changes / or Server Transfers are perfectly acceptable ways for SE to make money without affecting the game negatively but improving a players experience. And yes cosmetic armors that are cash shop only do negatively affect the game or my experience but if someone gets tired of being a Galka and wants to become a Hume why not let them pay $10?
If you allow name changes you should also make the blacklist and ignore list and friends list carry over to the new name though so people can't pay away bad reputations.
Implement this now please!!!! However you want i dont care or at least tell us we are getting it eventually.
There is a shortage to tanks true, but the endgame FCs will always have a good supply, those are the ones competing and mostly between those guilds. There is no race between avg player X and avg player Y, so your correct there. This is just more an small amount of people that enjoy the race.
The immersion thing goes both ways for RPers. Some will want no one to change, some will want to change. Not possible to please both groups 100% there.
For the fashion show... in RL your allowed to change how you look whenever you want, so your example doesn't work there.. If I want to dress up as a Miqo'te one day, walk on my knees and be a Lallafell for lunch, and put on some stilts and be a Roegadyn for Dinner I can. Then tomorrow I can be some kinda lizard wizard for a fashion contest!
And for hardcore PvErs, competing in PvP is laughable.
I'd like to have it just to change simple stuff like my hair or face paint from time to time. Not sure why there isn't an option in game to just do simple things like that. Ever hear of a barber? lol..
Which is why expansions should be mandatory for people to continue playing. If someone gets tired of being a Galka and wants to become a Hume, they already got an option: make a new character.
In real life, you cannot really change to a new specie over the night. I don't mind ingame-barbers, in fact I think they should exist so that you can change your haircut and facial hair. An "solution" I would accept, would be if you could ingame buy a "costume" that looked like another specie, but only if it actually looked like a costume .
You may have missed out on a detail here but [This is a fantasy world] not real life, we're very very aware of that. Making comparisons to your real-life to a fantasy game is just ridiculous.
Using the same system they already have in-place, just simply providing another way of obtaining it is what's being asked for, and some form of limitation on it, so people don't go crazy and change constantly.
WoW had this system for years, and surprisingly hardly anyone used it, people grew accustomed to the race/gender they'd chosen and felt comfortable with it, some didn't and changed and it stuck they didn't need to use the service anymore.
That's EXACTLY what we want.
This, I agree. Mog Station could offer some products.

Yes please!
10 char
I think it would be okay with certain limitations.
It would look silly to see some people change their race every week and would destroy the immersion.
I want this feature right now. Dont wanna be a bloody Miqo'te anymore lol. Srsly ruining my enjoyment. :(
I like your character Terius, looks pretty cool if you ask me... but I do agree (duh :P) at making this an option.
Square, please respond :)
The latest letter from the producer seems to confirm my view: ingame barber, but no item mall option to buy a complete makeover :D.
I really want this, plus the option for paid name changes from Mog Station. I WANT to change my Miqo'te to something else entirely, but since she has a distinctly Miqo'te name it wouldn't make sense. I used my free phial in an attempt to try and see if a new look would make me like her better, but I just can't get past their animations.
C'mon, it's pure vanity and easy money, it's not going to break the game.
Same here. I'm actually going to be race changing to a Lalafell. I just can't stand my Migo'te anymore :/. I'm _seriously_ excited because my first payment is scheduled to go through today so I should have my Phial waiting for me by the time I get home to play!!!!
I'm in the same boat. My name is most definitely Miqo'te and I want to change to Lalafell. I'm just saying "forget about it" and making up a backstory on why I'm a Lalafell with a Miqo'te name (e.g. my parents were scholars exploring ruins in the desert when they were killed by raiders and I was adopted by the family of a Miqo'te warrior that found me as a baby not far from my parents' bodies). Yadda yadda yadda.
This does not affect me, but I'm a rational human being. Yes I support subscribing member having the ability to buy fantasia potions on the Mog Station.
