Well, you played it by yourself because of your own thread...
This thread reminds me of old Shark Fin Soup to be honest :)

You know what? I actually do like a lot of your points and it certainly helps put things into perspective. You also gave it a fair discussion without coming in swinging like most people so I really respect that.
I'm on the half and half point that I still don't like the chair in general and what it looks like/still wish it looked more dignified. I'd really rather it have been named in general "heightened chair" or something more fanciful if it was going to be a general item for all instead of what we expected it to be. This is also me and other lalafell players in general still wishing for dwarven furniture but... -shrugs-
But your point of potential furniture later down the line and what people would say then did make me think on it. I guess it all comes down to how they incorporate it in a respectful manner.
I'd love to see other racial furniture that made sense to each particular party. Whether that be enormous roegadyn/hrothgar sized or something more aspected to a clan's culture such as a viera's homeland or the like.
There is a severe disconnect in any MMO. Whether people want to acknowledge this fact or not: the pixels one sees on the screen are "connected" to a real human being on the other side of said screen. A human being with a heart, soul, & mind. That is not something that can be denied.
In my experience in FFXIV: those who play Lalafell do so for a simple reason... They like playing the shortest race in the game & (according to some sources) the race with the fastest "appearance wise" ground movement speed. Those I know who play Lalafell, play them because of those reasons or how they can "look cute" in just about any outfit. I know several people who play Lalafell who are in different countries & different ages: none of them view Lalafell as "children" in FFXIV. True, the lore given does not do a good job at pin pointing their "age bracket" & we do see "children" of other races in the game. However, to summarily say that a race "possessed of a childlike countenance" automatically makes them children in the game is difficult for me to grasp. I will not deny that there are those who would perverse such for their own ends; but, I dare say your average FFXIV player would not.
Let me put it this way:
A man with a family decides to play FFXIV. He decides to play a male Lalafell because he finds the "cowlick" in one of the hairstyles adorable and reminds him of his hair as a child. Going off of pure aesthetics alone: does that automatically make him a pedo?
A woman with a family decides to play FFXIV. She decides to play Hrothgar because she likes their tiger/lion like appearance. Going off of pure aesthetics alone: does that automatically make her a "furry?"
A young man decides to play FFIXIV. He decides to play as a male Elezen, chooses the "boyish" face because he himself still looks "boyish" & wants his character to match. Not knowing the lore behind Elezen & going off of pure aesthetics alone: does that automatically make him a "giraffe?"
I could continue to give examples; but, I think my meaning is clear. In my opinion: it is not the chair that has Lalafell players in an uproar; but, the stereotype given to Lalafell players as a means of reinforced belittlement & harassment. The "chair" has been used to give voice to a much larger issue & over all concern among the Lalafell players in the FFXIV. Instead of reacting with telling players they are being irrational or to fantasia to another race: have a little empathy for a change & try to see where they are coming from. To the Lalafell players who saw the "chair" & laughed at it or simply said "Ok; but, that is not something I want to use," thank you for not viewing it as a sign of preconceived indignation. While I am guilty of what I am about to say: with all the other issues in the world going on right now, to have a 33 page forum post regarding a housing item become a major issue of conversation.... Well, maybe a quote from FFXIV is correct: "There is no hope for mankind."
Obviously not the other poster, but I'm so glad that you've truly listened to them and that their extremely well-articulated comment helped to give you a broader perspective on this situation.
Can we delete the thread now..? Seriously, I'm not even joking.
People are kicking off about hate against lalafell players but I promise you that this thread is doing so much more damage to you guys than any other thing possibly could have without all of this dramatisation of the chair. People vibe so hard with drama because it tickles a little part of their brain and they'll just keep coming back for more tickles... and usually they're exactly the kind of person who's going to say things you don't like just to stir it up and stop the drama from dying down.
Start a new thread, in the right forum location, and ask for the chair to be dyeable like many other furniture items are; I'm going to back you on that 100%. I think it was a real poor move on SE's part for not making it properly dyeable so that people could make it fit in better and choose just how childlike or not this item appears to be, and I'd like to see them fix it. To do that, though, they don't need to remove the chair or change the name/flavour text - they just need to consider that most people won't want a white chair in the middle of their living space.
I am going to expound a bit more on what I previously said. The "beauty" of games like FFXIV is that it allow many people to be in game what they cannot be in real life for various reasons. A young man who is struggling to be a bodybuilder might find comfort in being able to play as a Roe in FFXIV. A young woman who struggles with self esteem issues might find comfort in being able to look beautiful in FFXIV. The point is: no one knows what is going on with the person who is playing the character. If everyone would treat everyone like human beings and not just "pixels" on a screen... FFXIV and other MMOs would be alot better off in the long run. I am not saying it will be perfect and as no human is perfect; but, if everyone strove to treat everyone with respect and common decency: then things like this would have to take place. Yes, Lalafells were and are targeted by inscrutable individuals with disgusting motives. Yes, there are people who are "uncomfortable" with seeing Lalafells in certain venues. Don't see the Lalafell... Try to see the person on the other side of the screen.
So let's see...
Lalafells are the reason why the WoL can never physically interact with other characters in cutscenes, be that fighting against enemies or even something as simple as hugging one of the Scions, to the point that the only relevant interaction is grabbing the Exarch's staff in the 5.3 trial, which still had to move the Exarch around to accommodate the child race.
Lalafells get unique areas that other races are not allowed to access.
Lalafells are the race for whom most emotes are actually created and then not adjusted to look good on other races.
More characters on the hero (Pipin, Tataru, Krile, Nanamo, Momodi, Giott, Lamitt, Wedge, Dewlala, Papashan, Shamani, Anogg, Konogg, and Papalymo) side are lalafells than any other race and second most on the villain side (Lolorito, Teledji, and Yuyuhase) behind only the Garleans.
And yet despite all this Lalafell players who picked the race literally designed to look like toddlers and described as "child-like" in the character creator really think SE discriminates against them because of one incredibly light jab in an item description?
Someone explain the logic to me.
And yet despite all this Lalafell players who picked the race literally designed to look like ̶t̶o̶d̶d̶l̶e̶r̶s̶ loot Goblins and described as ̶"̶c̶h̶i̶l̶d̶-̶l̶i̶k̶e̶"̶ ̶ Goblinesque in the character creator really think SE discriminates against them because of one incredibly light jab in an item description?
Fixed it for you.

What did YoshiP mean by this then?
Developer intent is rarely 1:1 with community perception.
Most people playing lala aren't playing them because they are child-like, they are playing them because they are devious little gremlin energy having chaos hobos.
Infact, the people who play lala as child-like make the rest of us rather uncomfortable due to the close association with a weird little subset of sussy RPers that give off a bad vibe.
Chat is moving so fast nobody will notice I like lalas
That, too. It's just strange. Especially when there isn't a single one portrayed as child-like. They're all scheming, dubious (heh), conniving, greedy lil tricksters that would steal your gil pouch before calling for a healer. The closest one would get to child-like would be as a disguise in a sting operation to mug some pervs.
I wonder why SOME of lalafells that complains about this (plus saying Lalafells are adult!) are NSFW lalafells
/thinking
After reading this SE will never make another piece of race specific furniture again. Good job OP! /s
I hope SE knows that OPs opinion is their own, there are many lala players completely fine with the chair and even like it. I hope SE adds more.
In fact I love it when the game specifically mentions lalas in some funny way. I like it when fates say the monsters will eat my lala. Or when the wine bottle for the A Realm Reborn fireworks is too big for my character. Or when my character hangs on for dear life on some mounts, or in other mounts I get a tiny little toy thing. And I love it during cutscenes where my lala's head barely peeks over the desk, or when my character holds an axe that looks way too outsized. All of that makes playing lala fun for me, normalizing it as just any other race would disappoint me.
And while OP wants his character to be seen in some particular way, I don't think it's fair to say he's the majority. I want to be seen is smol, cute, and pet-able. This chair emphasizes that, if there is an FC meeting I will demand I get my booster chair and complementary lolipop.
Also kinda sus a lot of page 1-2 posters have such a low post count.

That's concerning...
This thread is cringe. Nothing wrong with the item. Don't like it don't buy it. Lalafells were made to be child like. That's the point of the race. It's weird to see a small part of the community so mad over an in game race.
I think this is the best critique of the item: it's fine that the item is cute but it would of been nice if it was actually designed for Lalafells in mind (like having a smaller seat so we can sit flushed against the back of the chair) and not just a gag item. ╭( ・ㅂ・)و ̑̑ ~✩
Edit: Thinking about it, the reverse would also be interesting: Furniture sized for the actually tall races (Roes, Elezen, Viera, Hrothgar, and male Au Ra). ٩(。•ㅅ•。)و

I'm really sorry about this, but do you mind if i sneak into your house and steal your lalafell chairs? :D
I didn't even realize I needed something to lift up my spirits until I saw this thread.
I just want to say thank you for giving me a good hearty belly laugh to start my morning off.
That said, I think SE might be going somewhere with this, and we should let the devs cook.
The problem is not the chair, I think it's mostly about people who take this game too seriously... no matter their in-game race. If no one ever bullied some lalafells targetting them as "children" and witch-hunting them no one would have ever cared about the joke in the first place.
Sometimes it's better to play by yourself and enjoy the game for what it is without getting paranoid over pixels.
If you are actually upset about this chair, you're a loser, I'm sorry.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.. it's a duck. Lalafell are a childish looking race which is why certain outfits are different on them because skimpy outfits on lala's are nasty. I instantly ew seeing any lala in skimpy clothing. They are like toddlers, they are a cute race and I love seeing some of the adorable outfits people come up with. But how you gna play a clearly child like race and then be shook and rage filled over a jokey bit of furniture. Isn't a lot of the humour with lala's that despite their cute appearance they can be little demons? It's just a bit more humour playing into how small and childish they are.
If you don't think of your lala char as a child cool, they still look like one. If people don't want lala in their roleplay or whatever that's their prerogative. Find others to RP with. I wouldn't want to do any serious RP with a lala since I find the race to be a joke overall that I can't take seriously. No serious situation lands with me when presented with a toddler as the star protagonist.
My friend dresses his lala in adorable outfits and never anything immodest. And like a true lala he is a gil capped money hoarder. If someone wants to call a lala player a pedo for playing the cute race they're an idiot. But all this grasping at straws to make lala race seem more adult also is silly to me.
I probably will always struggle to take that race seriously. I personally don't like them being so prevalent in the story because I find them to be such an unfunny joke taking away from any serious tone that might be going on. Given I am not a longstanding FF fan a lot of the classic ff things I just find stupid instead of endearing, like cactuars. I think for a playable race lalafell are cute, I even have a little lala alt. I just don't like how they are freakin everywhere in the story.
Tangent aside, if you don't like your race having some kiddy jokes made about it play one that looks older than 4.
"Change/Remove Lalafell "Lifter"..." The greatest thread in the history of forums, locked by a moderator after 12,239 pages of heated debate.
Well at some point people need to realize this is literally an online video game that has silly things in it. If people are so attached to their virtual lives within an MMORPG, they probably need to take a few steps back and stop taking everything so seriously and personal.
This whole thing is absolutely silly and just shows people will find any reason to be upset and outraged. Y'all are really acting like this is oh so insulting when the Quicksand innkeeper literally has a stepping stool set up for herself at the front desk. Among other things where Lala's are given humorous elements.
Lighten up and enjoy a giggle or two. It'll make life way less depressing.
Cuz getting constantly bullied for playing lala isn't enough.
I even fanta'ed an alt char Lala to a non-Lala, cuz of really nasty words.
Some people have a talent for it to make you feel bad for playing lala.
Lovely community.
Lovely devs for putting fuel into the fire.
Oh, comes now, it's not that bad. Relax, if you don't like it, just don't use it. After all, it's just a game, full of its own serious and goofy moments.
From my experience, the "bullying" comes more from your conduct than it does from simply choosing to play lalafell.
I'm not saying it's right to harass people and I'm not saying it's right to associate lalafell with baby chairs, but this issue has just been blown out of proportion from a vocal minority.
Who cares, pick up a football.
Ykno they don't actually enjoy being called that right? Lmaoo you seriously say you fanta'd over 'mean' words and then refer to actual people in such a demeaning manner? They might be shorter but they LOOK LIKE ADULTS. Lalafell look like children. Even sticking a moustache on one does nothing, you look like a child playing dress up at being older by having a stick on moustache.
Lalafell to me are not much different than the 2000 year old loli girls in anime, oh sure the story says they are an adult but any normal person looks at them and sees a child.
Touch grass.
The memes on twitter brought out the lala porn enjoyers and now I wish I could bleach my damn eyeballs. Avoid twitter if you enjoy being sane people.
ngl. i think this thread should be deleted and moved anyway, all things considering it's just becoming a mass argument and the point is so far buried anyway.
half of the posts/replies feel totally unrelated lol
plus, many of you are just embarrassing yourselves on both sides here.
Lalafell by design are a cute race. This is a cute chair with a name befitting the height of a lalafell, it’s a good item.
Nothing more to it.
Play a Miqo - you’re going to get petted
Play a Lala - people will think you’re cute
Play a Hroth - people will not take you seriously
Play a Roe/Au’ra - people will admire you
Play a Viera - people will ~ahem~ you
Play a Hume - people will ignore you
Every race has things it experiences.
