The man considers not allowing something to be released that's below his own standards "selfish". Rather than letting everyone play he thinks it's selfish to hold it back till it meets his reqs.

For me the delay is pro and con con because it is delayed which actually is not a big deal but pro in the sense that I'm going to be out of town and so now I don't have to worry about missing game time

I don't think there was any selfishness. if you watched the beginning and the end of the live letter letter he said he tried up to the last minute to be able to release it in November. He wanted to release it in November but circumstance leads to an undesirable result but again it is what it is.

Real solid people in this thread being condescending about how "smart" they are for using their PTO "right". If you want to use your PTO to lay on the floor and stare at the ceiling that's just as valid as taking PTO to go camping. Are you going to sit there and tell me if your plans were messed up by forces out of your control that you wouldn't be frustrated? Or would you look in the mirror and say, "I shouldn't have used my PTO on this. I was stupid."

at this point... why not delaying everything after 6.0 by a week and give the people some rest?

On one hand, i'm rejoiced as it means no savage during holidays.

I get how it can be unfortunate for those who took time off but overall I support Yoshida and team being able to use more time if they feel the product could use it. I've wished many companies would have done that instead of trying to rush it. You 'might' be able to ARR something that went wrong but doing it right the first time I think is a more reliable and preferable strategy lol, and one I'd encourage.

Hopefully everyone that took time off can adjust it! (Or find something else to do during it worthwhile, new sudden family vacation!!! ;) )

I've been counting days til the release of new jobs... But I wasn't going to have time off either way so it doesn't make a big difference in the end.

I still have tons of things to do before Endwalker. The minion from A8, raid mounts, sea gull minion, a tripple triad card, tank mounts, and so on. Maybe I could finish new game plus and get a chest piece from Eureka. Already got "The Reaper" title and I'm so excited to equip a big scythe!

i hear ya, was concerned since Im gonna be gone from the 17 for x days so now i dont have to worry bout not being able to play the EA.

the fact that endwalker is postponed does not bother me in fact,
what bothers me is that they could have announced and made the decision a month ago already, I find that scandalous for the people who took their days off.

This sucks. I really hope the delay is worth it.

Yes I'm salty, you don't need to tell me. I won't be raiding due to this nonsensical situation. And what best, 2 weeks before release. Couldn't they just say it a month or so before? They saw the influx of new players, they have the numbers so why do stuff like that last minute...geez!

I'm literally just learning about this now (from deciding to skim the forums). Well, this sucks. Oh well, I guess I'll be able to get through an RPG or two I had been wanting to playthrough (again).

I totally agree with you. My stomach fell when I heard about the delay. I can’t reschedule either now. I’m actually really angry right now over it. If we had been told earlier, I could have traded for that week, but now I am stuck. They may have made the final decision last week, but I would bet you they have been thinking about delaying it a lot longer, just putting it off until the very last minute.

Both. I would be frustrated, and that's why I would not use my PTO on someone else's schedule (that's not an immediate family/close friends, etc.).

In this case, I used unpaid time off instead and I just requested more unpaid time off for the new dates while keeping the current time off as it's too late to change them.

100% Fine with a delay. Team should take as much time as they need, especially to finish the game in a way that's healthy for the team.

Not fine with how late the communication (And I suppose decision to delay) about this was. People have taken days off for it already. Though I think they knew how controversial that decision would have been... I wonder what the major issues are, it can't just be polish for a delay to happen this late can it?

Nothing wrong on venting frustration, just know that the game will eventually come out and still be played.
I mostly work in seasons (summer and a little on winter) so I tend to miss a lot of cool stuff (5.3 patch being released in period of hard-core summer work, so much fun).

My work is also a mess that I could get called for travel anytime in less than a week of the release date lol

It's disappointing but considering they probably need to get not only the software for the expansion perfect but also the infrastructure for the anticipated masses of people it's a good decision.

Yes its poor timing but in cases like this you cannot make such decision months in advance - you reach the milestone and if something is not in place or will not be in place then you have to re-schedule. Sucks for all those who arranged time off but in reality better to delay than just have everyone stuck in a queue or something just not working.

While it's a bit disappointing for people who did have to schedule for time off to dedicate some time to play, it would be worse off if the game was released in a mediocre and unfinished state, the Devs know it's mediocre and unfinished, and the whole game gets thrown out the window and get bad ratings for being released in its current state.

Not to mention, can you imagine taking time off on your hard-earned rest days only to play a mediocre and unfinished game you were looking forward to for a long time? While this is a painful experience for anyone who can't change their time off, at least it's not the worse experience we can have. Flashbacks to ARR 1.0 days is enough for me to understand the dev's position in all of this.

If anything, I just hope Yoshi P gets some sleep. He looks like he needs it the most.

Given that the reason for the delay is to make sure that the story/lore/gameplay is super in sync b/c this being the finale to an 11 year story arc is that important to Yoshida.... I;m actually more hype. XD I didn't know I COULD be more hype, but here it is.

Wow, with that logic in your first sentence, be sure to remember that the next time you have a planned family vacation scheduled to go somewhere and your flight gets delayed or cancelled, or you miss excursions or other important events you paid for get delayed or cancelled. Just remember that you arranged and scheduled the vacation days for it, however “schedules are never a guarantee”, and you only have so many days for your vacation, so you can’t reschedule. Just remember to not get upset and blame the airline company, or the hotel, or the cab driver or the tour company over it. After all, you are the one who took arranged for your vacation, not them. Be bigger than the rest of us.

I, for my part, am suprised it is just a 2 Weeks delay, i am not a Game Dev, but i dont think there are any large scale adjustments being made in those 2 weeks.

Those better be some Job tunings for the better for once, i really would love it to enjoy healers again.

It isn’t the only time in our lives that we will be able to play the game, don’t be ridiculous. However, our time off was ear-marked for playing the game. Now it is too late to do anything else with it. It is too late to buy a plane ticket to go anywhere because of cost, hotels are booked up, etc. It would have been nice to have had a heads up to either change our days off around, or at least be able to come up with an alternative plan when we could have possibly bought plane tickets cheaper to do something different or go somewhere. The delay doesn’t make the game unplayable for any of us. What it did do however, is turn our time off into wasted PTO/vacation time that is now unusable for anything else this close to the holidays.

There goes my time off work. And it's impossible to change (⋟﹏⋞)

to me could of taken that part of development and used it on flushing out EW to be ready for Nov 19 really. Honestly all the seasonal events are lackluster and dismal prizes not really worth anything. I get delay's may happen but I also hold people to their word on getting something out. It's like being in school and having a project done by a certain date. Can't ask for a extension from the teacher they will just look at you and say it's your problem what have you been doing kind of feel

At that point, why bother with it when xmas event should be around the corner as well (if we even get that)

For me the delay is actually a good thing as i have a lot of things going on right now in my life. So i am one of the 3 people that is actually glad that it is delayed.

Personally glad for the delay, I can now do my exams without having to miss launch/barely play due to study commitments. I was sooo gutted at it not being released in summer for that reason so now this kinda solves the problem for me, I do feel for people unable to change their days off work though. Sucks for the delay to be as last minute as it was for them.

It's annoying that it's been delayed by two weeks, but I'd rather SE release it when it's ready, than make us a CD Projekt (although that studio needed another year).

The state it's released in will determine the image it has in people's eyes, and that makes it sell more.

2 more weeks to get the same experience as 5.0, I'm ok with waiting.

I was right not to get hype and to say to myself: "it's only in 3 months anyway".

No hype, no impatience. And I know Shadowbringer was very good in its 5.0 content

You keep bringing up CDPR as though that company never delayed their product at all. CP2077 was delayed quite a bit if you'll recall, though the situations between these two are different (SE delayed its qa a bit to fine tune lore, 2077 had been rebuilt from the ground up like...twice). The situations aren't exactly equitable. What's more, most people who are actually annoyed aren't annoyed with the delay itself, just the notification of the delay being so late.

This is the best example unfortunately between the good and the very disappointing, take it as you like.

It means I have time to play and enjoy Brilliant Diamond. Hehehe... the Turtwigs will be mine!

I feel sorry for people who have booked time off work, but it can't be helped. I would rather the game be good than it being released in a bad way.

On the other hand I have lots of crafting (rl) to do still so I will not have to rush to have them made for people who ordered.

It's not a very good example is what I'm saying. It's a false equivalency at best and a gross misunderstanding of the actual things going on at both studios at worst.

If you wanna compare 2077 to anything SE has done recently you'd be comparing it to FF15 which did end up facing similar cycles of multi year delays and still ended up half baked because the delays were delays in name only--by the time either game's delay was announced, the games had been altered so much that they probably didn't even resemble their design documents anymore.

Personally I think trust Yoshi P to know what his product needs to be complete. The announcement could have been more prompt, however, that's where my own criticism begins and ends.

I do think goodwill and some trust on them to deliver has been lost. Although this stretches back to 5.2 with this just being the biggest breaking point. 14 went from a game that had clockwork updates to now me expecting delays as the norm.

I’m annoyed and disappointed but this will pass quickly. I’m not mad or angry because as much as this inconvenienced me and maybe wasted my time crap happens. No one’s dead or dying. I will try my hardest to shift my time off but I do wish if they knew a week sooner they had said.

This said, those who send messages of hate to yoshi or the dev team can get… well f’ed and the level of dislike I hold towards them I don’t think I would be allowed to write but know that I feel that will all my heart body and soul. They didn’t force this, it wasn’t some scheme. It just is what it is. Be annoyed, be indifferent but don’t be a butthole.

It's the first time they are delaying an expansion. For 2 weeks. No need to be so dramatic.
