Haven't seen that joke before... nope

To be fair, most of his points are down to one's opinion and preferences. Yes, its a fact that the same formula is beeing used for this expansion, but he makes it look like that it's, simply because of the way it is, a bad thing.
Which it is not.
Its only a bad thing if they make it a bad thing, plus people might prefer this system.
Anyways, i doubt this is the place for such talk :D I for one am happy with the event gear, but i am not a fan of skimpy outfits anyways. I like them as casual glamour, but not in combat. So yeah :X
Hahaha, I actually felt the same. The males in this event were supposed to be funny, mostly made for trolling purposes (and I mean for trolling het males who wanted to see the girls and instead got tons of male meat in the way), while the females were perfect goddesses.
It was a fun event, buuuuut that part bothered me a bit, I guess (>w<;
It's part of the latent bias; the developers make a lot of effort when they are aware of it but when they don't the male gaze flies back in with a vengeance. Girls are sexy and cute, while boys are comic relief, criminals or both. Girls get loads of sexy bonus glamour outfits, boys occasionally get thrown a bone but mostly just get phoned-in unisex options these days (the Shisui outfit variants, topically, are a lot more exciting to collect if your character is female, though I appreciate that the male top does look lovely). I don't think it's even slightly intentional. They have no idea they're doing it because the development environment is inherently biased a certain way and they assume people don't like looking at guys because they don't like looking at guys. I'm not seriously offended by any of the content of the event in any way, but it did make me sigh internally as we continue to wait for some level of equal treatment for players of all stripes.
I was also a little annoyed that one of the joke guys was wearing what appeared to be a dyeable version of the swimming trunks.
I do wonder why we even need such a quest line for an event? Make it a short: Summer is coming and people want to have fun, so hey WoL have fun too! And give us lots of things to do. Instead we get a strange quest with cutscenes where I do ask myself why they even put all the work in this. I understand that SE loves their stories but this is still an MMO and I just cant see much long lasting fun in an event that does not even take 30 minutes to completely finish.
I really wish they would decrease the amount of events and instead concentrate on like four events and make them really big. Each one could give us a music scroll, some housing items, glamour gear and maybe a pet. Just some nice amount of things to work forward too and instead of putting things into the cash shop, you could just put them back on sale for the next year thus nobody is forced to grind all the items at each event.
So, I assume after doing the short quest line and getting the outfit, amd spending tokens on a couple of decorations and the orchestrion scroll, there's nothing else to really do but grind to buy fireworks?
So it's a custom version of the popular sets. Made dye-able. The appearance changes for the respective genders.
The spying quest, is about a male lala who likes to spy on beach-girls, not about your WoL spying on whatever she/he likes. To make the quest sort of a unisex thing, the males are prominently there as well. You can 'fail' the quest as much as you like, until you figure out who the male lala actually spied on.
A majority of players, male and female, like the original set and hence the dye-able one. The quest shows both genders on the beach doing their thing.
I mean I totally get it; if you don't like or agree with stuff you should say it. Like I will never rest on the absurdness of gated RNG raid-loot in this game, it is absolutely appalling and dare I say it - just unpleasant for the majority of people who complete a raid, even in its current state. Absolutely appalling, even when I win said rng item it feels bad towards others who tried just as hard or even harder. People have been leaving over that stuff since 1.x, they know and changed it around a little, but still see a positive bottom line with the current practice, people stay to keep trying this crap again and again, so who cares about 'shared fun', right? Now there is something to go actually mad on and be triggered about.
But saying this seasonal quest hasn't been tailored to fit a pretty wide audience, saying they are blind to equality... I mean come on, let a bit of that ego go and open your eyes, it's trying very hard to be unisex and funny in a broad sense;
Flaunting males and females. Perverted males and females. Good and bad males and females. Dye-able gear for both sexes.
Do not make 'not liking the gear yourself' a bigger issue than it really is in-game, or on the forums? Check yourselves! /pet /pet /pet <3
thank you guys, really need glasses ^^"
In case you did not know, A LOT of smaller fish stay around coral reefs and never try to swim outside of the reef zone because of bigger predatory fish. That is why bigger fish swim in open water. The tiny fish find shelter in the coral reefs with all of the nooks and crannies there so they can hide at night because of the bigger fish (some shark species go raiding coral reefs at night, so fish need to stay safe).
I'm fine with the Shisui sets, honestly!! It's one of my favorite sets, and the one we got from the Moonfire Faire is customized. In case you did not know, it's a combination of an Asian outfit and swim ware. So it was perfect for this event. I do not understand why all of you are complaining. I'm fine with it, and you should be, too! :)
They stated they "do not understand" why we're complaining, despite MANY posts in this thread and others explaining why, and then said that because they don't have a problem with it, we shouldn't. That's not just voicing their approval. That's blatantly trying to demean our complaints.
I'm sitting back on the beach in my new "swimwear" combo enjoying the fireworks and making Battered fish for people who need it. I've also got a cool poster I put up in my house and shaved ice in my storage saved for a sunny day. Enjoying the event for what it's worth... See ya all on the coast!
Well this is still a game and thus people would like to look at something beautiful and after they showed the ruby sea in the benchmark I am too a bit disappointed to see it so lacking of life. You will see some fishes but there was so much going on in the benchmark and things like the big crab and stuff like that would have felt better. I mean I do kinda wonder how the fishermen survive with such a low amount of fishes.
Also my problem with the set: First its only one (and not even the complete) set thus people still need to farm the others and I am not even sure if we now will get the other ones later. Also if you miss this event and want a dyeable dungeon gear version you will have to buy it with real money..so they put something behind an event thus also behind the mog station that is already in the game as dungeon gear. I dont think that this is a nice practice. Also the sock make it look ridiculous as swim wear. Then lets not forget that we have one completely unique asian gear in the cash shop which would have been an perfect price for this event..so they sell us the unique for real money (in an expansion that is about an asian-like region..) and only give us one incomplete dyeable set of a already existing one. And please just because you are fine with it (which is alright) does not mean that everyone has to be like that. I just cant see these events in the same eyes again after going through some in F2P MMOs..I am not saying that the tasks itself are no fun but you barely have anything to grind for in the event, thus it was over in under half an hour for me.
The event reward is a modified version of the Shisui sets. The top is (thankfully) quite different, and only one of the bottom parts was used.
This means that the original Shisui set, or some parts of it, might come as dyeable in the future. Just wait for two years until the next expansion before complaining. In the meanwhile, I sure will be enjoying the event rewards.
Moonfire faire 2014 such good memories how good event really were.
Afterwards, now and later events been nothing , just lesser and boring.
I dont mind if events are gone if they cant take back how good it once were because now its just disapointing every times.
Saw Ultros joining in on the peepery. Event worth it just for that.
Edit: Just discovered he's also a boss FATE. Even better. Kinda curious what some new-ish players' reactions are to that, if they haven't gone through the Hildebrand line.
Necklace part and huge sleeves are gone, making it look better with bikini pieces (and in my opinion, just better in general, hahaha). I for one never wanted to touch the Shisui top with a stick, yet I love the event version, so I'm happy this reward exists instead of just having the dg gear dyeable.
The striking set has neck's cloth/band as part of the gear so that makes necklace accessory invisible.
The event one doesn't have the neck part but still can't see the necklace accessory...
The striking piece never had sleeves.... I'm telling you it's the same piece xD. Thats why you cant wear a necklace. Unless you're purposely just not reading.
To quote someone:
All they did was give you less by cutting out the headpiece, gloves, and shoes.
It's a really cute dyeable level 1 outfit that can be worn by all roles and all levels and it's available to everyone even those who don't have Stormblood. I'm sure it's well received by the community at large. I have the actual dungeon sets and I'm happy to have this one too. The event too is fun and actually made me spend time in costa which is seems i've always been too busy to take the time to do.
Moonfire Faire 2013: like 15 different swimsuits in various colors
Moonfire Faire 2014: Lord/Lady Yukata in 4 different colors, bomb dance emote, various furniture, all of the swimsuits from the previous year
Moonfire Faire 2015: Southern Seas and Striped Southern Seas swimsuits, all of the yukatas and swimsuits from the previous 2 years
Moonfire Faire 2016: Legacy Warrior armor, all of the posing ranger emotes, firefly lamp
Moonfire Faire 2017: dyeable version of armor set that is already in the game
Anyone defending this is delusional. The rewards for this event have gotten worse every year (thanks cash shop!) but at least last year it was still something original. This year they couldn't even be bothered to make an original reward, just copy and paste that gear set everyone is already wearing. Why bother doing any actual work when the players will eat up whatever scraps you toss them and the fanboys will work around the clock to defend you?
To be fair, you should add the housing decor items and orchestrion roll to the 2017 list as well. :X
With that said, I do still think this year was incredibly lazy with the gear reward. I think the top is cute, sure, but it's inexcusable to give a nearly identical copy of dungeon gear that was released only 2 months before as the event reward.
Also, if they follow their current pattern in reusing armor, it's going to come back as a crafting set that is DoL/DoH only.
You think originality is the property which tells us how good an event reward is. I think the how much I use the reward is much more important, and I'm using this reward more than the bikinis, yukatas and especially that ugly armor set. You don't get to decide for everyone what makes a reward good and what doesn't. To me this event is better than last year's since both the reward and quests were better.
I don't want the job restriction because I don't have 35 inventory slots to waste on just one outfit. Now I can get rid of the dungeon versions. I also wasn't deciding anything for everyone (or calling people delusional for disagreeing), that's why I said "to me this event is better". Some people in this thread are getting so riled up they forget people have different preferences and have right to have them.
The problem is that they simply could have given us dyeable gear from the beginning thus you could run around with the set you like in the color you like (maybe just with the job restriction) and on top of that we would have gotten unique gear for the event. So both sides are kinda happy. I mean its nice that you like it and there is nothing wrong with that but you also cant just decide for everyone and it seems that this feels wrong for a at least some people.
Now its not even sure if we ever get the others sets as dyeable versions since this one will land into mog station. At least a lot of the older event stuff was unique but this time if someone misses the event and wants that gear they will have to buy it for real money..real money for something that is already in the game as dungeon gear..
Also the poster just showed how much we got as glamour gear in the previous events. Now we get more and more housing items that a huge amount of the player base cant even use which means that they either have to throw it away and buy it again for real money if they finally have a house or they have to use their inventory space to store this..
The issue isn't with the gear themselves, but how SE's decision to put the incomplete dyeable set behind an event. So not only are we potentially missing out on a otherwise possible unique set of gear for the event, they are also (imo, probably) setting a precedent in which to lock highly desirable dyeable gear behind the kupo store due to how seasonal event gears are re-obtain down the road. Business-wise it's a perfectly well thought out move, not only are you cutting down on development time/cost, you're also increasing revenue simultaneously. However, from a customer's point of view? I'll leave that up to you to decide.
These are all speculation on my part, by no means am I claiming any of the above are true. Sucks if I'm right though.
The glamour part aside, I do enjoy the event. Even if it's only temporary, it's nice to see a group of players relaxing around Costa de Sol. Also, the guest appearance of Ultros is perfect! XD
Well if its the version you liked out of all the sets then you can get rid of them but if you like some others more (or wanted the head piece) then you will still have to collect and store them. They could have given us at least all sets (with all parts) in this event, if they need to use existing gear for it. This way anyone could have simply thrown all sets away thus freeing up more space.
I'd have liked to be able to obtain more than one set of the gear from the Faire, that way I can dye them differently and not have to worry about spending so many dyes when i use the same item's for different glamors.
