TERA's castanic armour sets were pretty awesome. But Castanic armour sets were they way they were because of lore reasons. And also because Castanics were ripped. I would hate to see similar amour sets in FF because they won't give us muscle sliders for half the guys, particularly the noodles. If I could make my Elezen actually have abs, I would be all for it.

Hello! It's me again! Got some more screens of my gal in beefy gear, this time parading around as a WAR! :D I really like the first WAR set, it's beefy and strong looking! (It has a leather six pack built into it!) And I still use it for glams even at lvl 60!

Anyway, my point was that both males and females should have sets that make them look sexy (revealing, shape-flattering, tailored), badass (heavy plate etc), and neutral (but that we already have to some extent). And all that will depend on the gender, should they want to go for more sexy female outfits while forgetting the males (deja vu).

I've been an advocate for atypical looks for male characters (as well as female), but I've not gone into glamouring something that isn't typical of my character, especially as I play a male Roegadyn and abhor the "joke glamours" that so many do with the race... and it's pitiful because the race has a lot of potential but people pick either end of the spectrum and never inbetween. For me, I've always stuck to typical "meathead" or extremely masculine glamours, sometimes going for "risque" glamours, but decided I'd try to go for something that is both fitting to the build of male Roe but also atypical to what you'd see on a male Roe.

I decided I'd make a glamour to help breathe life into the thread, so here's my attempt:

I have never seen a male Roegadyn looking anything like that. Absolutely stunning! Though I think that wristband flower is bigger than my head :O

I took a bunch of pictures (hey, had to test out the new dance...) in the same outfit last night and was surprised at how delicate it made my Elezen look in some poses. I'd always viewed it as a rather masculine set.

Damn that does look fabulous! Unusually feminine for a Roe but not in a jokey way. I love it.

I need to put a male Roe in my Fantasia queue now.

Since it's a new page I'll share the pictures of my Elezen in a similar outfit (though he's nowhere near as stylish as ErryK's handsome Roe, who is almost his complete opposite in many ways!)

I love how dynamic everyone's pictures are, too. They really put most of my attempts to shame.



Tonight I'm going for ARR Y'shtola. I'm pretty proud of how well this outfit came out. The only thing I'm not 100% satisfied with is the hair, which is closer to her Heavensward style, and was the best option currently available to my character.

Tonight we have Yda! Had to switch to Paladin to wear this, since Yda is apparently the only Monk in Eorzea who knows how to put on plate greaves. Maybe PC monks will learn how once we get to Ala Mhigo!

Was about to make my own thread but saw this one instead so I'll just rant about my huge disappointment in the male armor in this game, which just seems to get worse at times.
It seems every time they design some armor for a female character to have a skirt and thigh highs/high heels, all we get are the same boring looking pants as always, with a different color, and some ugly boots.
I am honestly so tired of this. One of the biggest disappointments was the BRD pants (Antiquated Aoidos' Tights) which for female characters have 1 leg only, yet for male characters it's once again the same plain pants..
And let's not forget the bunny/maid costumes..

Please Square Enix I am desperate for thigh highs, heels and booty shorts. Especially booty shorts.

Found the gordian mnk greaves/feet are quite platey might not be exact but they are there

Tonight is inspired by an outfit I wore for a while after a certain major event in the 3.0 MSQ. The body is the Chimerical Felt Alb of Healing, the headpiece is the Orison Hood (White Mage artifact gear)

Yeah, this is always a huge disappointment to me every time it happens; If males can wear the same strappy, occasionally furry subligar models as female characters can and still be considered decently dressed, how is it suddenly indecent for them to wear a relatively modest pair of shorts with high socks? Especially considering tanks and dragoons of both genders later got the Yafaemi bottoms which are very similarly styled.

Though interestingly enough, male characters usually do get the same high heels female characters do, in the rare cases such things are added to the game (technical issues with PC models make the designers understandably hesitant to implement heeled shoes.

Oh, those would actually do nicely if one really wanted to be able to dress as Yda as a monk. They're not as close as the Cobalt Sabatons, but they look very good in red. I'll have to try to get a pair before Stormblood hits.

Tonight is the Limsa NPC gear; it doesn't work out quite as well as the High House Justecorps/Bustle, since the female top has exposed shoulders, but just adding a skirt to the male top comes across as a more modest version.

Evenstar/Chimerical Felt BLM gear is the flavor of the evening. Not the girliest thing out there, though it has an awful lot of tiny, lovingly rendered bows, despite being one of the sets with the greatest differences between the male/female models in the game. Those boots are a thing of beauty, too; if I ever decide to pick up Black Mage seriously they'll probably be a mainstay of my glamour collection.

I'd love to know what the designer was thinking when he or she designed that weird tail sheath, though...

I love the boots for that set but I hate that the bows aren't dyable.

The Evenstar set is amazing, just one of many reasons casters have the best fashion options. The top is a little shapeless on my character but the rest of the parts are spot on.

(I also like the ridiculously fetishy tail sheath, but I don't actually have a tail so my opinions are rather less valid there!)

Also loving Synrin's flowy outfit, and SpiritMuse's gangster Roe. And whoa, Lukh'a has a great figure in the VA tank set O_o

Cultural differences I'd say, but still not any less unfair. If they want to keep gender roles well defined and traditional they could at the very least make it so that both males and females have an equal amount of things to glamour. Silly, funny, serious, plate, sexy, whatever, make it equal. They managed with the Makai PvP sets, and they deserve every credit for that..

But what were they thinking with the Hailstorm caster set? Or making Aymeric's hair unisex while Yshtola's hair is female-only? Bunny and that Thavnairian sets are FEMALE-ONLY. Females can wear the best man suit, but males can't wear the bridesmaid's dress. Where is the male counterpart? What is there that males have and females absolutely can't have? Not that many things.

So through looking the way we look in this thread, we want to show that you can look 'ridiculous' despite the gender-locks and thus there is no reason for locking the gear based on gender. Alternatively, keep the locks while keeping in mind that males would like to look good in the new sets too (design sets separately, make them more gender-neutral etc).

I am not going to write in this 'protip' manner as I'm not 14 and trying to bicker, but maybe the mancat you are speaking of wasn't deciding anything for anyone. Rather offering an advice on how to behave. A misinformed opinion can still be delivered in a nice manner, no matter whether it is the internet or not. But regardless, it speaks the most about the poster themselves in the end.

Although, I would rather offer that guy an advice on how to use punctuation.
