SIGN if you Hate PVP GC Restriction & Want Change

I'd love to see the GC restriction removed. I joined Maelstrom because I like their color scheme, glamours, and city more...but a lot of my FC members and friends are in Adders or Flames. I've ended up fighting against fc members before which, while amusing in itself, isn't exactly what I signed up for. :p

A friend recently got me to try out PvP and while I've been loving it --- having to wait an hour+ to even play is a bit discouraging.
Anything that would help shorten the queue time would be fantastic at this point.

Please sort q issues out.

Hoping this or some sort of fix will be addressed in the next live letter.

I quite like the GC theme as I like seeing my regular PVP buddies from different servers and having a coherent community spirit.

However, I just logged out after today's four-hour queue came to nothing, because I needed to sleep. This isn't the first time I've been in a PVP queue that long lately (it's pretty normal, even with one language selected and occasional resets to avoid the queue glitch) and I end up so tired and bored that if/when I do get into a match I play terribly. I can't even do anything interesting with the time because you can't queue while grouped, so I just sit by my television and read a book. Boring.

I wish I only had the one-hour queues some people talk about. That's really short. I don't think the queue estimate ever drops below 'more than 30 minutes' outside of peak hours in my group these days and the reality is much, much longer.

Please allow people to optionally queue into any GC team for PVP. Please ;_;

yeah, i think it's time to eliminate this restriction. Make it so that party members get contribution toward their own GC, but they fight on the side of their leader's GC. That would easily speed up queue times too.

The way it's set now, you're forced to be in the same GC as your friends if you wanna pvp together. why would SE have such a restriction, but constantly talk about how being able to play with friends is so important?

Another mode added. But now you can see how many people are in que. Regularly I can sit in que for hours with 24+ other people. Funny how that works. No class requirement and 24 people can't get a game started. Also obligatory http://i.imgur.com/QWJ7Wln.png

definitely signed. Had a friend switsch gc to pvp together, so he had to rank up wich is pretty boring work for the first few ranks plus lost all his pvp ranks. Gladly he didn't play a lot of pvp before, otherwise it would have been even more bothersome.

I probably commented this a long time ago but I'm commenting again, this needs to be done already. I am sick and tired of the GC restriction. We can't play with our friends, I'm stuck with the same trolls who enter PvP unless I change my GC which isn't fair, my queues are either slower or faster than other players due to GC which also isn't fair on anybody, and if we do decide to change GC's, it costs gil, we have to get promoted multiple times to reach max rank again, our PvP rank resets, and we're stuck with a GC we may or may not like purely for PvP reasons.

It was a nice idea to combine PvP with GC's but it really doesn't work. It's annoying, frustrating and even puts people off PvP. I also hate the fact these issues seem to dissappear from people's minds as soon as the new PvP content becomes old. This needs to be addressed now, please SE.

I'm often in the mood to dip into PvP for the sake of mixing things up from time to time - yet I don't bother because the queues are abysmal and I loathe the idea of switching GC's to whatever happens to have the 'fastest' queues of the trio.

Just as an FYI, the queue times wouldn't improve much at all, where it'd perhaps maybe shorten a 3hr queue to 2hrs. Differences that might be significant by the numbers, but hardly impacting in practice. When/If they change it, sure, it'll be much better queue times... just like how it was when Siege and The Feast was released. Damn near instant for some. The thing that people don't consider is time itself. The older it becomes, the more time people have spent burning themselves out on it. Time that was used to fester loathing for your teammates lol.

While I'm for the removal of the restriction at this point, I feel it necessary to point out that queue times are not a strong or meaningful reason for it with this game. FFXIV just does not have a strong PvP community foundation, thus it won't be popular for the general playerbase. The FF name itself is a representation of that fact, since it's never been about competing with other players. This is unlike other games, such as WoW, which have almost nothing but a history of PvP from its RTS days. There are great PvP players among us, not to mention diehard players within, but they're not enough to make it a consistent drop in queue times for most/all hours of the day.

What the removal does do is allow for people to finally queue with all their friends or have an easier time forming pre-made pugs. You bring back the ability to strengthen bonds between the players, something that is possible but severely limited with the GC restriction. I do recognize the negative point within that statement, however. Pre-made groups being made easier (but not easy enough that just anyone will find themselves part of one) can absolutely kill the enjoyment to be found. It's not exactly new to FFXIV though, given how pre-made groups are a thing, so that worry, while valid, isn't meaningful.

I tend to disagree with your point about the ques. The system only needs 24 random 60 classes to get a pop. It also does not need all 24 to even enter to start the game. It should greatly reduce time spent in que. I don't think you understand the amount of players that sit in dead ques with no pops. Now this won't fix dead times of the day. Also while getting stomped by 8 people in voip is no fun. The more of them queing the more pops for 16 other people.

You also are not taking into consideration that when a premade team of 8 ques they bump anyone from getting into that game. If 8 adders from Jenova que and get instant pops all night and the system says less then 5 mins and you get ZERO games. They would in fact be helping and you would get more games. Instead of currently bumping you into purgatory que.


Lastly, while I am not sure I would hope this might fix dead lobbies people get put into. Instead of making a new team around the 8 adders that are needed to start a new game. It checks how many people are in que 27 bang it fills 3 parties and starts a 4th. 70 it starts 8 parties and waits for the ninth to fill after 5 mins it breaks into 2 games and waits for the next match to fill.

Is there even a proof that lacking players from some low populated GC is the reason why it's hard to get into Frontline matches?

I feel like removing GC restrictions in PvP would simply be treating a symptom of a larger problem: Grand Companies themselves. There is no reason to remain loyal to one over another. They're all essentially homogeneous entities and therefore pointless to the player within the context of the game.

The game asks you to side with one out of the possible three then immediately relieves all meaning from the choice when it informs you that you can switch to any of three at any time for any reason and with zero consequences. On top of that, the slightest bit of research will inform you that all 3 literally offer the same exact incentives outside of a few cosmetic gear pieces, housing items, and things of that nature.

I understand why people want GC restrictions removed, but that only exacerbates the real problem. If GC allegiance no longer matters in PvP, then why not just remove GCs altogether? They don't really matter outside of PvP so removing the one instance where they do (i.e. PvP) renders the entire system utterly pointless.

If they're going to keep Grand Companies around, they should work on distinguishing the three and then adding incentives to remain loyal to the one you choose. I'm not just talking a few minor things either. Better exclusive gear (sets for PvE and PvP) that you can only wear/display as long as you remain loyal to that GC. Exclusives pets and mounts. Exclusive mats and recipes that you only have access to as long as you're a part of that GC. XP bonuses within that nations borders (i.e. Malestrom members get bonus XP while leveling in all La Noscea areas, Flames = Thanalan, Adders = Shroud). XP bonuses to leveling nation specific classes, both combat and non-combat (Maelstrom = MRD, ARC, CUL, AMR, BSM, etc etc).

I'm just throwing ideas out there. The point is that the GC restriction in PvP should be there for a reason, but it feels pointless to the player and therein lies the problem. They need to fix the whole GC system as a whole instead of slapping on band-aid on this massive wound.

If they actually make GCs mean something, then removing GC restrictions in PvP wouldn't be so bad imo because they don't suddenly render a chunk of their game pointless. You could join a match and have a message pop up saying "Hey, your character is allied with the Flames, but we threw you on the Adders to speed things up. You will still receive Flame currency if you win." that way you can play with your friends without missing out on any of the cool stuff you yourself are working towards.

I fully support this. Would immensely help queue times and let me play PVP alongside friends who are members of other GCs.

Right now GC's feel extremely lacking both in bonuses and meta impact, and many of the ideas you presented would be nice to see in game as there needs to be more... tangible benefits to Grand Company membership if they want to keep the restriction, It's almost a shame that frontlines and shatter aren't open world zones that players could contest the ownership of for their respective GC.

I don't play PVP, but I do feel the GC restriction is stupid. I wish they would just let us join all 3 at will and switch to whichever you want represent at any time (during PVE) and for PVP they should just dump you wherever they need to fill.

Having some kind of a competition between all grand companies (I want to join Ishgard btw), you have to make sure of having the same amount of participants for each grand company.

Sure, its a small problem to remove the restriction because of the lore. But c'mon, i ve seen flying rotating turtles and fat chocobos, if you know what I mean.

I don't think this is something to get so worked up about.. no wonder SE hates their western community

I quit pvp because of the horrible queue lengths, at this point they're just killing their own content.

Even when there is small PvP community those people are still paying for the game and it is the one of the reason why they are doing so, GC removal might speed up the queue times atleast twice if not 3 times which is quite nice outcome considering they don't have to add new content just rework the GC restriction. PvP is bad in this game compared to other MMOs but GC restrictions are making it even worse and they don't even have to be here in the first place. Well and lore was a bad argument since start, lore will never justify having 40 minutes + long queues.

And the statement about hate for western community is just ridiculous, I didn't know you were working for SE (as you seem to know exactly what they are thinking), if so you are clearly missing the Dev/ Moderator forum frame.
