£130 =/= $130

I like how they're rating Euros like second-rate customers. The €=$ policy was already bad enough, but now they're also making it $=€=£. There's no way to justify that. Not to mention our stores being shit and no servers on EU... I hope they're at least spending the money to build real EU servers, or this is just pure utter crap.

The priority is always Asia>USA>>EU.

What's really suprising is that offline games have their prices right, even if the initial price is all you have to pay for it.
Here, the price is obviously unfair, besides the fact that it's only a small benefit when compared to the monthly fee.

i am in north america... but customer support and the treatment of their customer basis is disgusting ... having a large chunk of your player base forcer to pay almost 30% more then north american users is just dumb and bad service!!
as well a digital download for standard edition should be cheaper then an actual physical copy of the same thing as there is no actual production costs. my pain goes out to the uk/aus/eu players I really hope that SE shakes their head and doesn't alienate a whole region of the world from this game.

Reminds me of Apple's pricing where 1$=1€ on their AppleStore, back when 1.5$=1€, thus making EU getting robbed for no reason (taxes doesn't account for such a difference)

Time to use a VPN/Proxy I guess if you wanna have decent pricing ;)

What makes no sense is that the other editions of the expansion actually are converted somewhat. The standard and digital editions do not have a 1:1 conversion on the pricing so to have it on JUST the collector's edition only serves to highlight how outrageous it is. I still think it's an error based on that observation, and the twitter post confirming the price was just from a CS rep who looked in their database and saw the same incorrect price. At least... I'm hoping anyway. :/

forgive my ignorance -- if you are paying online can't you just pay in dollars? There is no physical currency being exchanged so why can't you just transfer Euro funds into dollars and pay in U.S. dollars?

You have to use the currency and site for the version of the game tied to your account, for those of us in the UK this means we MUST use an EU key. SE have made it so we can't have the cheaper euro version shipped to us in the UK to MAKE us pay the £130.

As mentioned previously, this may infact be in breach of European Union law, which demands that all EU nation states get the same price for the same product in an online store, or the ability to purchase it from any foreign EU nation state. We don't pay import on goods sold within the EU as that's all part and parcel of the union. Fair trade laws ensure that no one nation in the EU can have it's prices jacked up without a strong and legal reason.

SE should probably give us that reason, before it ends up taken to court. There's a LOT of angry british right now over this.

Thank god (or Greece) this isn't the case anymore because now the € is ruined and the difference between € and $ is minor.
So the € pricing can stay for all I care, back then I would've cared but now we're talking 6 bucks...

I never knew about this law. Unfortunately, I can't quite read 30+ pages right now but you seem to be able to detail this. I know that the Pound is different from the Euro so as I understand it, the price is "same" but when taken into consideration, exchange rates make the British Pound more expensive?

I know that there are certain British laws that make things much different in the way places do their practices. (For example a friend I know was able to get an account that wasn't in his name into his possession because he paid for it the whole time). This would not work as far as I know in the U.S.

Ahh I didn't realize that, well still it's absurd they are charging £129.99 when they can clearly do the correct conversions for the digital version.

Thought this thread had gone poof but glad I found it again.

I've got the collectors editions for both 1.0 and 2.0 but this price disparity really makes me angry, to the point where if they don't fix it I may not give them my custom at all anymore, and I say that as someone who has supported the game right from the very start.

I am interested to see if we can pursue this breach of EU law, gonna look at the link Sebazy gave earlier and see if there's any way to report it.

The lack of comment makes me hope that perhaps they will revise the price but the twitter comment seems to state otherwise :(

SE I hope if you are determined to go through with this someone will have the balls to make a statement and justify it given the backlash you've received and not just hide and ignore all of us.

I for one don't live in the UK and, for what it's worth, won't buy the CE unless they fix the prices for you. I'm not going to let them get away with that sort of stuff, not just because it's plainly wrong, but because in the future the rest of us can be affected (again) by their greedy practices. FFS, they don't even try to give a proper reasoning for such prices...

We should stand united on this, no matter if we are from the UK, from the rest of the EU, from NA, from Australia and New Zealand (another thing that they could really improve...), from Japan, or from anywhere else.

So, I understand the fact that there is a great disparity between Euro and GBP.

But, I've seen the business practice of making items such as Playstation Vita being 249 USD vs 249 GBP. When prices dropped they dropped to 199 USD and 199 GBP. As far as I know, Sony ran with it without having to make any types of announcements.

Since the price is £129.00 in UK and $129.99 EU I will be going for the digital download for £45. This thread seems to be gathering momentum. I am not sure why people are talking about it being tax related, there is VAT on digital services also and that is still only £45

SE are allowed to charge whatever they want in each individual EU member state, so the £129 and €129 is perfectly legal. What is in question is if they can legally block (or prevent) a person from one member state (the UK) purchasing from another member state (the Eurozone). If it is illegal, then the EU could simply instruct SE to rectify the issue (no good for us currently), but they can also fine (I think it's up to 10% of their global revenue, so $1.2b. They fined MS a heck of a lot and $1.5m per day for non compliance with a directive)

Aye yep, the region locking is dubious at best.
