There's a difference. Jennestia/Xatsh is being constructive and trying to show a point of reference for the developers to improve the game.
It appears to me, (as someone who's only casually looking over this exchange) that Cichy simply points out every little flaw (s)he can find without offering any points for improvement.
We all know they're working on the "core" but I am wondering what's going on with the graphics. Most of the players are under the impression that they have been working on some big content to combat the bland visual design. I'd like to believe that too but there's just no facts to prove the case either way so all we can do is wait.
I'd like to know there's more visual interest to these areas than a round door but as it is I think we'll have to wait for a long while to see some FF-worthy imagination in this game.
I hope there's a XIV equivalent of Thunder Plains, Shinra building, Balamb Garden or Sea of Sand or the Lifa Tree, the pillar on Pulse or the home of the Star Sybil. Something unforgettably imaginative. Zanarkand was a 10-minute game-play section but still the architecture and the atmosphere of that place was really memorable.
Even if it's a quick concept sketch... no scratch that; btw when it comes to previous FF titles there is no such thing as a quick concept sketch have you heard of the team Kusanagi?

That kind of design takes days of hard work to pull off well.
Anyway even as a concept image I'd love for them to show that the art team is working on something memorable.
I'd really want them to contract the members of Kusanagi to do work for XIV as they've been a big part of the imaginative visuals of FF titles ever since FFVII.
I think redesigns to zones won't be till summer 2012/2013 to be honest, considering the battle system alone is most likely going to take till oct/nov. That's if indeed they decide to go ahead with a big redesign or just add new zones and expansions with richer designs. A zone like thunder plains would be fantastic, as would zones with environmental mini-games. Lightning dodging lalafells ftw!
Guys keep this post about the dungeon not about redesigning zones or graphics etc... there are other topics for that
Taking bets on how long before 8 THMs manage to take down the Ahriman mob with barbs!
whoa! this looks good. The awesomesauce is almost ripe for the dipping :D
Can't wait to run down there with my friends, cuss em out for an hour, then buy everyone a pizza when its all done. mmm sweet victory/death pie
also, is my eyesight going bad or is there some awesome 80's robot opening the gate @1:20?
It's a rune. When party clears area or completes area objective, the rune opens the next area. Some runes might not ask party to kill everything. But kill certain enemies. Meaning you won't have to kill everything to get to the next area. But yea, 1:20 was just a stationary rune. Doesn't move, those blue holographic circles you keep seeing in the video? The rune is in the middle of them.
You seem pretty firm in your convictions considering we have no information on them whatsoever. You're right that it does open the door, but we don't know anything about the conditions, nor that they're called 'runes'.
Spreading misinformation to sound informative really doesn't help the community, to be honest.
Yea I don't know what came over me. I completely misused the word rune. And posted false information. Instead of ignoring his question about the 80's robot however, I'll answer it. No, it's not a robot. It's a stationary figure. Yup, I fully know this.
I've tried so hard up to this day not to post incorrect information (based on my assumption) or make any biased posts because I knew the second I did someone would focus more on trying to correct me, rather then giving relevant information that hasn't already been given to the thread.
lol, I was just making a fun observation to coincide with the twenty pages of Lancer Jump debates. Whatever it is, it does seem mechanical though :) going to be interesting to see its origin and purpose in these dungeons.
I also really like the fact that it appears to be an event happening separate from the party, seems we will have at least some element o surprise and complexity to these, and not just run from point A to point B as fast as possible
"Happy Birthday Paulie"
Apologies if I came across as aggressive or something, it just bugs me when people act like what they're stating is fact without the info to back it up. This whole community seems to be built over rumours without people actually checking what the devs have said, a lot of the time.
We should have over 10 of this instant raid, with variety in monster and design.
We deserve it. All SE fans deserve it.
I'm not sure if this was posted somewhere else in the thread or not but I didn't have time to read the entire thread.
I'm pretty sure the Ogre with the red horns is the final boss, as there are only 13 minutes left on the dungeon timer when they are in the last CS with the Ogre.
These two that we are getting were pushed into release as is.Quote:

Since the battle system is not worked in fully yet, how could the devs possibly draw up battle tactics that make use of it properly. If the actual fighting lacks any of the more complicated party strategies seen in FFXI, then we should understand why. Still, i'm happy to have a couple of 'preview' dungeons, and i'm sure there will be dozens more that will make full use of a reworked battle system.
Didn't they say there could be multiple bosses and multiple ways to go in the dungeon? The reason I ask is that the text says: "only to have the seemingly soulless statue suddenly spring to life the instant they tried to move it."
I would say that this 'statue' might be the final boss.
If anyone wants to know what the general MMO community thinks of the update, they can read the comments on:
http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/07...anced-dungeon/
Reading the comments on sites like massively seem more even and balanced than on these forums where everyone is a devoted follower to the religion that is SE.
SE has always gone with the Boss > Boss > Boss > Boss > MEGABOSS method.
What's funny is, reading posts on any forum dedicated to a game you'll get "biased" comments; I'm pretty sure I'd never find biased comments on a Bioware forum about their company and game, right? If you actually read post instead of using your, as the hip people say "Trollvision", you'll realize not everyone is a "devoted follower" but simply not everyone has to be constantly cynical and pessimistic towards absolutely everything they do every minute of the day -- That's the difference between being a "devoted follower" or "excusing failings", simply because some people choose not to waste their time being a incessant cynic.
It seems exactly like FFXI Assaults and Ruin's of Alza...
Anyway Assaults in FFXI were fun so im happy there back.
I hope its more then just 1 type of run threw. Meaning more types of raids within the sme zone.
I'm with Jenne.. #### or GT#O
nothing's worse than an incessant cynic. not even the worst dungeon.
Many MMO's, even some with excellent launches, will arrive and fail during the time FFXIV continues to grow.
Starcraft, FFXI, WoW and Counterstrike continue to live on.
I fully agree with the poster who pointed out that FFXI had a slow start as well.
I think FFXIV will be the same.
The active user count will slowly rise to a modest plateau of anywhere between 300,000 and 1 million players by about 2014-2017. A combination of new purchases in combo packs, returning users, the PS3 launch, and disgruntled players from other MMO's that live and fail while FFXIV quietly trudges on will stream into the game. Meanwhile Yoshi and co will continue a deeper level of content at a more refined level of awesome.
Meanwhile a modest profit margin from both the more largely developed FFXIV and the small crew on FFXI will allow FFXI to continue operations, even with a dwindling player base. 24 servers may merge into 16, then 8, and maybe even 4. The relative cost however, of upkeep on an aging FFXI, will continue to work in synergy with a naturally dwindling player base. In any likelyhood it will never dwindle entirely, because those that play it will have invested so much time into such a tightly developed game.
I cannot prove my theory in the dawn of the MMO era, but i suggest that in about 10-15 years time, after FFXIV has properly plateaued and dwindled, FFXVII will be the third main FF MMO by Square. It will take the reigns as the primary profit giver (i'm sure they wanted FFXIV to be that sooner, but hey, it goes). FFXIV and FFXI will fall to the background as self sustaining worlds with secondary, but strong development.
My point is this.
I don't think FFXI or FFXIV will ever go offline unless the world ends or SE goes bankrupt.
That is real job security from something that will only get better. I LIKE IT.
actually you can see in 1:07 a flash like flame thats when the dragoon jumps and fades you actually can see how he banish moving upwards then after pug does the jump when hes landing the dragoon appears like falling stabing the mob at 1:09/1:10
A site that states the dungeon as 8man for R40+ is a reliable source now is it? I guess spreading wrong information is even supported. Cause it's R45+, but don't tell anyone...
And what kind of "general MMO" Community is that, that makes 18 comments lmao...I've got more hairs than 18 on my ass and they don't count for the "general ass hair" community...
@Jump people: Seriously, stop this BS Jump discussion finally. It has been confirmed and stated more than once now that the LNC is NOT using Jump.
This may have been mentioned already as I havn't read every post, but did anyone notice that in the video, next to the party members names their classes are listed as well? and with that being said what exactly is a Lalafel Exc? hhmmmm.....
