There are already consequences to choosing to use the 6 anima I regen daily - I run out of anima and must wait for it to regen again to be able to use it.

Uhh no leave anima right where it is. Everyone else who feels a need to burn a whole in their anima pockets go right ahead...For someone like me who plays 10< a week ...I would like to keep my anima. I don't have time to hop on a KFC to travel or on a boat.
It seems some people are getting offended and defensive about this subject, worried that some convenience will be taken away. This is not about whether people like or don't like teleporting. Not at all. It's about the lack of a need for chocobos and airships.
Before thinking about what you want, think about what is best for the game's survival.
Chocobos and airships could be a major gil sink, which is much needed for the game. With no changes to anima, those may as well not be added. Their purpose would not be fulfilled.
Anima doesn't HAVE to be done away with necessarily, but change is needed.
go back and read the first 27 pages of when i explained over and over and over and over.. as well as everyone else that people are human and unless we put some control on their options they will abuse it and rushing through this game will leave people with nothing to do especially since there is hardly anything to do anyway.. and before you say somthing about 6 anima a day, im able to hold about 70 anima at all times because me and my friends share anima therefore that argument is flawed.
When everyone is bored this game will die, its already struggling as it is.
6 anima a day will not allow anyone to "rush" no matter how hard you try.
Players bored of logging in and only able to use the majority of their game time "traveling" instead of playing the game will cause the game to die faster then allowing players to use 6 anima per day like it does now.
YOUr easy Gameplay > Affects Game's Mechanic > Affects MY Gameplay.
If there is Anima, no matter what, you would want to use it, be it a casual gamer with less time or hardcore gamer with more time or the others in between, why? because its available and ill use it. Does it ruin gameplay? Yes it will. I can be anywhere i want, anytime.
I personally Hate crafting/less time to spend on mindless craft(jk), so i tell SE make the craft jobs have less TNR and double the SP from each synth or get an item that will double your SP. Will it ruin gameplay? you think ppl will not use the double SP item to make crafts level faster? What about people who loves crafting? should i say "ME wanting easier craft class DONT ruin YOUR game play, JUST DONT USE THE double SP Item!!"
i rather level my craft normally so everyone can have fun. Remember, even tho the OP said he wants the teleporting system eliminated, if u read the entire thread, people want modification not complete eradication. I want to teleport to Coerthas, but i dont want to teleport to Horizon(it takes 3-4 mins, seriously from uldah), maybe some of you should play the game first.
Anima needs a different solution other than "just remove it", "just reduce it", etc.
Just sayin'
This thread is getting pretty ridiculous, and most people have started massively exaggerating everything in their arguments.
Nobody on the "remove/limit anima" side is asking for it to take "an hour" to get somewhere, as some have suggested. I think we're talking about maybe 5 minutes max to get to any destination from wherever you are. We're not asking people to walk from Limsa to Camp Dragonhead.
People on the "keep anima" side are justifiably afraid of travel being tedious when going to routine places. For example, originally in FFXI the trip from Jeuno to Tu'lia became fairly tedious to some people who went there frequently. However, from what I've seen, most people arguing the keep anima side aren't even listening to ideas to address their concerns.
Some people claim, "I always have 0 anima, so it's fine already." Maybe you choose to spam teleport everywhere until you're out. That's fine for you, but that doesn't make it a universal reality. A lot of people play every day, do all their leves, local leve turn-ins, etc. and still never even get close to running out of anima.
Then there are people saying "just don't teleport if you don't like it". This is really getting to be a tired argument on the forums. Transportation can easily be a unified cohesive system that accommodates everyone just like it is in other MMOs.
Transportation needs to be a gil sink, as the developers have already stated. The teleport/anima system needs to be changed in some way for that to happen. Maybe you think you would use chocobos and airships plenty anyway, but once again that is not a universal reality. Many people have suggested replacing the current system with teleport NPCs who charge gil. That sounds perfectly reasonable to me as long as prices are balanced properly.
The bottom line is the teleport system was very clearly a rushed implementation put in place because they had to launch the game before they had anything else ready. There's no redeeming quality that justifies leaving it exactly the way it is. Convenient transportation that accommodates everyone can and should be done much better than this.
dude, are you simple? its not like i have a static party with the same 5 freaking people. all my friends could finish this game way before (which is what usually happens anyway) stop picking one small thing out of every example i give and asking such simple questions, its more broad then just me. ITS NOT THAT SIMPLE. please scroll up and read Raikki's post and PLEASE dont find one sentence and change her entire post around.
It is that simple - players who have alot of time to play are going to get more done faster then players who do not have alot of time to play.
That is why anima is in the game - to allow players who do not have alot of time to play to try and keep up with players who do have alot of time to play.
Removing or restricting the anima will do one thing and one thing only - ensure that the players who do not have alot of time to play will no longer be able to play but only travel for the majority of their game time.
Period.
It IS that simple.
If you cant even spend 5 min walking to a camp, MMO is out of the question.
Teleport = Long distance ONLY!
+ these maps arn't big, its all exaggerated in scale, heck i think west sarutabaruta was bigger than entire thanalan, if u look at the speed ur character moves on you map you would be shocked, i think it takes 12-15 mins to go from onside on Thanalan(west where the ferry are at) to the other(east where the Black Shroud Zone), and thats without using DoLs "Quick" which is obtained at level 5 i believe, and of course Quickstride, short duration but still quick.
5mins for the starter areas, sure.
It takes exactly 15mins to run from Limsa Leve counter to Skull Valley.
When I have only an hour to play (as I do most times - if Im lucky its 2 hours), that is 15 mins TO the camp, 30mins to do the leves at that ONE camp, and 15mins to walk back to Limsa.
No going to another camp, no helping out a Linkshell mate, no crafting any of the mats I collected, my play time is done.
Because I spent HALF (more if you count running around for battle/gathering leves) of it traveling.
Trolling this thread on a puppet account for 2 days more or less proves you have time to run to Grid. Anima needs to be replaced with actual MMO transportation, infinite instareturn for 0 anima is already more than you're going to find in pretty much any game and any "casual" or "hardcore" player should have the "skill" to make that save them plenty of time.
There it is exactly, "players who have a lot of time to play", do you think we are all like you? I bet more then 80% of what the population should be has more then 2 hours to play, whatever you have. "going to get more done faster" this is what im afraid of with the current anima system, get it done fast and then quitting. Please read Raikki's post, we aren't asking for it to be completely removed (the OP is but not all of us), we are simply asking for it to be more realistic for many reasons.
Bet all you want, until you have proof, it doesn't matter what you think the "majority" are, what matters is if the devs KNOW what it is and whose money they want.
If they want money from players who have little time to play, then they will continue to add more options for us in the game.
lol quoting 5 words out of my sentence, failtroll fails, don't pass go. Come back when you aren't all cool and anonymous and someone might take you seriously
Heh, i said basically the exact same thing to him on another post like 3 days ago.. and look at his response to you, he still does not take into consideration all the reasons why we are trying to make this point, he simply goes back to... "Your Selfish".
@Crica, i think that you need to take a step back, actually read the post and realize that you not caring about how the game turns out for everyone is selfish, you are simply scared for your own convenience instead of the entire games well being.
I help friends/linkshell mates/random players out with the little time I have to play - which means I don't walk everywhere - that way I have TIME to help them out when I am online.
You ONLY get 100 anima when you start... once it is all gone, it is regened at SIX anima PER DAY.
THM rank 8? Are you just a teleport bus for your friends? You've spent the last 10 months getting to rank 8 and teleporting your friends for 2 hours a day? oh and mass posting moronic posts refusing to listen to reason? Forgive me, im trying to understand your predicament so that I too can justify having 100 anima with as many teleport crystals as there are mcdonalds in a town of 1000 people around every last corner.
Lancer Rank 11, Miner Rank 9, BS Rank 8, AS Rank 8 as well.
and since you did not read -
