Happens. Hard to read everything.
question how are you 348 in gear?
is this done with i70 gear??
im at 342 gather 286 perc without food or FC trait.
have both forgers rod and hat and full dodore set and full melds all HQ.....
trying to catch kissing trout in exploratory ice hole and keep getting you have insufficient skill....
Central Shroud - Hopeseed Pond
Whatever the Big Fish is here, I'm hooking it, hooked it twice, but it got away each time. Started at 6:40PM Eorzea Time. Weather is Overcast, and I'm using Honeyworms, no mooch. I'm assuming the fish is "The Green Jester".
My stats currently 373 Gathering 293 Perception (this is with food using Spinach Quiche HQ)
thanks guess im having more luck with a fish im not yet after then one I am.
its properly on here but does anyone have a link that has bait + fish in each location and skill required etc?
I have the 2.2 big fish one that was at start of this thread.
thanks :)
my fishings 349/292 pretty sure thats meld capped. Thats with foragers rod, the new fishing hat, and fishing gear full capped, Dodore survival belt capped and with i70 battle jewelry they have higher meld caps for gather and perception 5g/5p but no GP good for fishing just not for mining/botany.
Such as
gryphon skin choker/astral choker
gryphon skin ring/astral ring
astral bracelet/gryphonskin bracelet
rose gold ear screws
That puts me to 349/292 with HQ spinache quiche(24g/10p) that puts me to 373/300 after that you have +10 gather +10 perception guild buffs. If by some miracle I can catch 3 olgoi khorkhoi and have 6 million to blow on new materia the newest fishing rod will add another 10 gather and 6 perception. Fishing drives me batty sometimes HEH gl yall.
Ahh well that explains while i'm a couple short. I'm using all Dodore gear. which explains the 5p/5g im short and I just realised im 1 gather short on body which has penta meld on it.
Only 6mil haha malboro is nearly 14 mil for demi's :(
thanks king. im not gonna recraft i709 gear just for the extra 5 points
does anyone have a list of the fish in each area and bait.
I've been trying to catch North and South Bloodshore, costa del sol and hidden falls. missing the last from each. spent most last night trying to catch trying different baits.
def agree we need a tool box for baits and stuff to :) filled nearly 2 pages with baits and didn't take long to fill with fish either
I just got back to fishing after not playing ARR much but doing a ton of fishing in 1.xx and I have a very basic question that I can't find the answer to after searching the forum. I understand that you need a minimum amount of gathering to have a chance at any given fish and over that will make you more likely to pull it in if one bites, i.e. less likely that it gets away. But does higher gathering also give you better odds of having high level fish bite in the first place on any given pull so that you will get it more often?
I really can't confirm this either way. I'm still working on getting my Forager Fishing Rod and was hoping that'd have some kind of subtle increase in the amount of higher level fish you get bites on. Bait is probably one of the biggest factors since certain fish react better to certain baits and the spread of fish in particular areas make it easier to narrow down what you can catch with what bait.
On the other hand, there's the thing where some fish will only bite on level 50 bait and every other fish will bite on that same bait as well. Silver Sovereign is a pretty good example. I think I've had at most about 5 or 6 of them actually bite on my line within the period of 18:00 - 06:00, meanwhile I'm tossing away every other fish that's biting on the Yumizumo. I think the high level fish just have an innately small chance to actually bite.
I'm working on the same thing. My thinking was that if more gathering makes me get silver soverign more often then perhaps I should not buy the hat after getting 10 HQ but instead get the rod after 20 HQ if the +31 gathering speeds up the rate at which I see silver soverign. Since I melded a hamlet hat the fisher hat is "only" a +16 perception upgrade.
lol, yes that's obviously true. The problem is I loathe the way the high level mining/botany nodes work where you are basically just told to wait, teleport, wait, teleport....Any content that involves just waiting around is horribly designed and quite frankly an insult to the players. I know I can do some fishing in between but that's hardly the point...
lol I never wait. I always have stuff to do in between before miner/botany node were up again. I farmed double hat on miner, extra one for my miner retainer. My forager rod alone took like 3-4 days to get, and thank God I don't have to get hat through that. XD
nvm. found the answer. Did manage to desynth both swimwear legs for male and female today on Octo's! Pill bug ftw.
Wondering if anyone has info on "Fingers" which is caught at Crescent Cove in Western Thanalan. I got the Legendary catch SFX @ 343 gathering but was unable to reel it in. I was using Northern Krill @ 5:15 Eorzea Time. Is there a time window in which to catch him, also how much gathering is needed? Thanks
The Greatest Bream in the World is my new Arch Nemesis.
I caught 1 around 9pm Game Time using Shrimp Cage Feeders, clear/fair weather..... but now i've spent at least 5 whole game days fishing constantly and have yet to see another.
Anyone have any luck with this fish? Bait? Time? Weather?
I'VE BEEN TRYING ALL WEEK (ノ`Д´)ノ彡┻━┻
Not a single bite honestly. Greatest bream, more like greatest Harry Houdini!
Speaking of Harry, has anyone tried getting the Matriarch in Coerthas? That thing gets away 95% of the time no matter what your gathering rate is.... ಠ_ಠ
I'll try for matriarch when i get home and see what I can see too!
DAMN YOU BREAMBLEMORE!
Got another TGBITW; 930pm Game Time. Shrimp cage feeders. Saw two other fishers port out around 11pm Game time. So maybe the window is 9-11?

http://na.ff14angler.com/ - Awesome site for fishing and weather.
Tugs - Each set of fish has 1 0f 3 type of tugs. Light, Medium, Heavy.
Example: Octomamath - Medium tug will only produce Coral Butterfly and Harbor Herring so you should ignore a light tug to save time. Pill Bug > Med tug > Harring Harbor -Massive/Heavy Tug = Octomammath. If there is no massive tug you can let the fish go to save time as it will only be a blue octo.
Olgoi-Khorkhoi (Heatwave)- Sand Leech - Medium Tug - Storm Rider - Massive Tug - Caravan Eel > Olgoi-Khorkhoi. If no massive tug it will always be a manta. Tugs are key to farming. Hopefully people can help with a tug guide in more detail as i listed. This guide has all the Two star fish i believe
Bump! This is a great resource and has helped me tremendously and it still is. I'm up to 46 out of 106 big fish caught and so still have a few from this list to go. Thanks to all contributors!
Haha, thanks. To be honest though the best thing to use now is this site. I'm not too sure how well it works for 2.4 fish windows, but for all 2.2 and 2.3 fish it works a treat.
Happy pulling!
With the Starlight event it is snowing all the time in the housing zones, how it is supposed for fisher to catch big fish like the lavender beds one that only can be caught with fog? its just a doubt ^^U after event finish in january?
My new favourite is http://ffxivfisher.appspot.com/
4 filter levels, sortable by zone or availabilty, links to bait zones and fish.
Me gusta.
Great help many thanks
