Summoner are good at sustaining dps.
Quick kills or dps race summoner loose to any dps
But im not seeing dps complains what im seeing is
Summoner is not a real summoner and just a warlock
and
Eggi size and appearance which does need to be changed.
or not enough skills for pet and summoner damage is based on DoT
Summoner is a easy class noob friendly any idiot obviously knows how to use it.
Anyone that only has a summoner or 2 dps class leveled and coming in this thread on how to play a class need to keep quiet naught said.
Okay, my own problem with summoner is that it doesn't feel like a summoner from other games where they take a while to cast a summon, but for massive bursts of damage which is kind of what I -hope- enkindle is like.
Now the size. I played XI with a friend for a few months, I saw summoners and said 'I want to be that', but when I saw alot summoners all with fenrir out, the amount of stuff I couldn't see was pretty hilarious. I like the egis, I like their design and don't mind their size.
The only reason I wish they were bigger is so I could ride them like a mount and not care.
Nope, Enkindle is a fairly useless (but somewhat flashy) AoE attack that does less damage than Fester.
Enjoy!
I agree. From what I've seen on people's parsing data, SMNs are always either the top or 2nd damage dealers. I also noticed that when it's myself in a party with another SMN things tend to go a little quicker than when I'm paired with say a DRG or BLM. I think people just underestimate the damage the class does because we're so DoT reliant so our damage is more slow and steady than other classes. We also have the damage that comes through our pets that I think some people forget to account for. If you pile up the DoTs , use Bane, and reapply DoTs at the right times we can do some insane damage.
Bane is great for trash pulls.
Get the dots ticking on the non current target and its health starts ticking down before anyone but the tank is even hitting it. For fights that last a couple of banes, the non target trash can have its health reduced up to 50%. Speeds up the run compared to single kill target at a time.
I feel like Arcanists synergize very well with Marauders at early levels, spreading dot's via bane. Same cannot be said about Gladiators, since you really need to focus down one by one, if you wan't a optimal run.
What I usually do if a Warrior is tanking and we do not have a sleeper, is spreading dots with bane, and festering the main target. As with paladins and gladiators, I feel its a lot better to just focus single target.
I don't know about you guys, but I feel really strong with Summoner, having swiftcast from THM, I have just so much flexibility, If I need to change to Titan on the go, to help offtanking dungeons or insta ressurecting somebody... Being able to offheal while my dots are up in a tight situation can really help, and having access to AoE LB is amazing...
When you get fester, the game really changes for the better, as you feel the incredible damage you are doing aside from the dots that are much more subtle.
The only situation I find myself in trouble are burst situations, as our ramp up time is just so great. But having a Bard or Dragoon dealing with these problems, I feel really confortable, just focusing my damage, while he deals with the party bursting needs...
I don't know, I am really enjoying the playstyle... I just wished the pets were revamped, I don't feel like a Summoner at all, but the gameplay is good aside from that, Summoner is really fun to play.
If they could give us some really nasty looking pets with more skills to manage and more gambit(FFXII) oriented AI, that would be the way to go.
Oh, and btw, please, fix the pet management bar being dependant on the GCD, that is just so wrong. I should be able to command my pet while casting and managing everything else I'm supposed to, as a summoner.
