That's why I said it wasn't a particularly clever idea. Something so simple and close to what we have now just had to have been considered. In most cases we can assume that ideas mentioned on these forums by any 1 person were at least briefly considered in team meetings over at SE. I mean they've got a bunch of people who do this for a living discussing various systems regularly, versus Player 1 saying "I've got a killer idea!"

Just speaking strictly in the sense of probability, it kinda goes without saying that ideas from players on these forums that they haven't even considered/brought up before in their offices are incredibly rare.

ONE person in the whole forum thot my 1yr 9 month old suggestion to reduce the amount of gatherable logs by botanist was a horrible idea too. Look how that turned out :/ Of course they probably already thought of that :/ Of course that ones persons nay to my suggestion was what they went by :/

I just couldn't resist calling you out on your bullshit. The reason that analogy fits your approach so well in this case is because of how insignificant a feature it is relative to how important you make it out to be. It may just be the tone of your post - and it probably is, considering that's been a trend with you ever since the beginning - but it still comes off incredibly pretentious/silly.

This Sprint skill didn't exist in 1.0 - and it was perfectly fine. If they never added it to ARR, it's not something people would be bitching about en masse. Most people wouldn't even think of it, what with Swiftsong and mounts and shit. Them adding this little skill has no significant effect on the game, and absolutely no downside/trade-off whatsoever.

Can it be done better? Sure. So can basically everything. We can chat on the forums about how every system in any game can be done better. That's how games evolve. What doesn't sit well with your OP is not just the fact that you make a bigger deal out of a trivial feature than it's worth, but also display misconceptions about how it works... both before you haven't even touched it yet.

I like the ideas floating around this thread - if anything it makes it worthwhile... almost. I wouldn't be upset even for a millisecond if the current Sprint ability wasn't changed for release though, ... whereas for areas of the game like battle system and gear sets those are much more critical and worth theorizing over for valuable feedback.

Basically, just because it doesn't seem simple to YOU, or because YOU don't see a problem, doesn't mean there isn't a problem, and it doesn't mean you play like everybody else or think like everybody else. The fact is, you are too stupid to look at this with a broad enough perspective to see the issues, because you're only looking at it from one perspective. I very rarely want to call someone stupid, but you are belligerent enough to get it out of me. I set out in my original post the reasons it was inconvenient to ME, and a few others agreed. Just because you play different (i.e. don't plan on using this ability) does not mean that it is inconvenient to use repetitively. You are very small minded because you can't see the benefit in going into excruciating detail on the small things to make sure the bigger picture is the best it can be. Why do you think this company is not successful?

I like how you said the battle system and gear sets are much more worthy of feedback. That's just an example of you trying to prioritize a discussion, in a thread about the discussion of something else. The fact is, the small things are easier to get right. There's room for discussion about all aspects of the game here. There's no need for you to waste our time telling us what's worth talking about and what's not.

if we could put it on shift or something it would be pretty easy to use since the changed the way the character walking now and also its used only out of combat for what i have seen soo...pretty much it seems pretty usefull for getting away from an enemy thats far away and still has target on you. AND another thing WHAT IF the Chocobo can also use the sprint...AWESOME! *o*

I see you and the below poster got into quite the debate. He's wrong, but as for your suggestion, to me that would be more annoying than it is currently. Lol. You're taking an unlimited sprint and making it limited. It's already limited by a cooldown. Why would you want to limit your own speed to make yourself go slower? Would that be fun to you?

I'm not sure why you said that, because presumably you can already use Sprint in battle since it just uses your TP. It's basically like using a weaponskill. Most likely you'd use it to flee a battle.

And when discussing a possible passive speed ability, there's no reason it couldn't only affect run speed and not mount speed, or vice versa.

Although, if we are considering a passive bonus, what difference does it make if you press a button before you go through a difficult spot or if you just start running without pressing a button? Surely the fewer button presses the better for something so simple as running?

Try not to talk down to me. I've played both Aion and SWtOR, your primary examples. I know about the use of certain abilities and I thought they were belittled by the fact that a lot of them were toggles.

As far as the UI being customizable, that was already said. The key maps are bind-able. The windows are customizable. These were things established months ago before videos even started. A delay in the implementation on keybinds is about as far as you'll get as far as assumptions to the negative on this.

Areas in which chocobo's are not allowed? They're irrelevant. You're talking mostly instanced areas and arenas in which case my example holds: They will be used as a method of evasion and brief boosts in speed, NOT as your primary speed runs are abolished anyways, makes the issue moot to all but the elitist of the elite. It's a toy for the over-anxious and you're complaining about it like it should be a 24/7 mount-less speed boost. If that is the case I want it removed entirely as that's not the purpose for this skill.

Anyways, I've lost my patience for this conversation. It's a petty complaint. There are alternative means of speed travel, and bereft those, you don't need to be using sprint 24/7. As I said before, will people? Absolutely. But they don't need to be encouraged to, or catered to in this case.

Your complaint is like saying players should be allowed flight because jumping is an inefficient means of getting airborne.

To me it looks like all you have to do is hit the = button and your golden to sprint. (which i like how they added the - and = keys to the command list. So as far as it being a pain i don't think its a big deal. as long as they have a button set up for it on the the controller it's golden.

But I hate the way it looks. I'm not talking about the unfinished alpha animations but that just to sprint its made such a big deal that your body is surrounded by a huge energy burst of light like your turning Super Saiyan or something. its not a huge thing but it does bug me. i would rather just not have that because it feels a bit to over the top for just a sprint.

Otherwise i love the fact that you can sprint! That was my biggest peeve of 1.0 it often took quite some time just to travel to places on occasion. but i hope this doesn't take away the ARC abillity swift song.
