Please let SMN keep Resurrection

I love having resurrection on summoner. The tieback to arcanist/scholar is nice, it fits for the job, and it provides some optional utility and variance that I find super fun in the otherwise extremely static combat system.



I can't count the number of times I've un-killed a run where a small mistake ended with many/all healers down. I tend to not res until all the healers _are_ down in my party to avoid stepping on toes. If I see another alliance has all healers down I'll probably throw my swiftcast at one of them. If a situation has gotten very clearly dire, we need bodies off the floor, and our healers' swiftcasts are down, I'll step in and pick someone up. Sometimes it saves the day and we're excited about clearing. Sometimes we still wipe and we try again.



What I can count is the number of times I've used swiftcast for "DPS" in the last couple months. Twice. Once because it seemed cool to hopefully finish off the boss with the swirly green orb blast. Once because I made a poor choice about which order to bring out my summons, and I didn't have the option of standing still for a few seconds for the next few GCDs when it came time to do so. It doesn't skip the long recast time, so unless you need it for movement all it accomplishes is moving a tiny bit of damage slightly earlier, which is going to be offset by you standing around for 3 seconds with nothing to do. I imagine in a very tightly tuned super ultimate maybe that matters; thank goodness you have the option of using swiftcast for that instead if that's the content you want to be using it on. :)



The majority argument I see in this thread against keeping it seems to be from the hardcore raiding camp (many of whom are being fairly brusque, needlessly). Hardcore raiding is a small piece of the story-heavy action game we're playing and not required content for anyone. Some of you are even in here saying you dislike playing summoner at all but are being required to by your static to work on progression runs. So... don't? Find a different group to progression raid with that doesn't force you to play something you dislike. Clearly multiple people agree that healers down should be a wipe (unless near enough to clear without), and wipes should be a normal experience, so why push for seeing other mechanics before you're able to clear the earlier phases of a fight in the way you, yourselves, claim is the most fun correct?

I think its good they remove it, maybe they actually make it fun to play again in return :3

idk about your first option but the 2nd one would hurt the jobs a lot, you would be promoting BLM to undisputed king of casters since the gap in dps would still be huge but now they would have no raise

This is such a dumb myopic take. If all you care about is hardcore efficiency, they might as well remove all flavor and differentiation and make every job play equally the same.

Players want resurrection kept on SMN because it is summoning a PHOENIX. Because that is the spell most associated with that summon. Otherwise, there would be no point in having Phoenix as part of SMN's kit, it could be replaced with literally any other DPS summon.

Resurrection's inclusion in raider's kits does not negatively affect them at all. At worst, it is an extraneous support skill that never sees use. At best, it is a rare clutch save for a run. Neither end of the spectrum impacts SMN's functionality in high end content; it is an ability included *solely* for flavor.

And I frankly don't care if the design of the game and Yoshi-P's public statements indicate that SMN may lose resurrection. If anything, that speaks to abysmally terrible job design on the part of the devs. Introducing a RESURRECTION summon in shadowbringers, a LEVEL 80 capstone, and having already had the opportunity to totally rework the job at level 90, only to totally revoke everything that makes it unique around level 100/110, only two expansions later, is terribly mercurial and lacking coherent creative vision.

This is one of the points on which the devs absolutely should listen to the filthy casuals on and quit cowtowing to the raider minority. After Solar Bahamut and Seraphism they clearly have been investing zero thought into the trajectory of the Arcanist jobs. Utterly embarrassing.

With the shift in fight design being "do perfect or wipe" with non stop body checks I don't see why it cant say.
I also don't think res taxes are warranted anymore, at most this would just cause unbalance in older content, which it already is seeing how overpowered SMN is at lv 70.

There is no perfect way to fix this problem so I think the best course of action would be give them long CDs like how blue mage res does.
Also give healers 2 swiftcats or turn healer res into an ability with a short cd maybe, option 1 seems like the clearer option with current job design.
