CBU3. Please respect your players.

We gotta take the good with the bad here - 'Cause XVI unfortunately kinda proves what people feared. Which is CBU:III are sort of a penny pinching studio that tend to have trouble balancing simple gameplay systems, and focus way too much on spectacle. :/

As harsh as that sounds, and as fun as people are having with XVI. That's the most common feedback that's been given to XVI and CBU:III as a whole.

But damn is XVI Final Fantasy as fuck. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck" lol

That statement hits the nail.
CBU3 is too busy catering and attracting players, instead of being giving to all kinds of players. The McDonaldszation of everything. CBU3 should stick to making visual novels and story their main strong points, instead of creating a firecracker that blows up in your hand.

I love what they did and do as a whole.. but this slowly casualization is painful to watch, and it affects a lot of media nowadays.

These issues are visible for everyone to see now that CBU:III released a mainline. It's going to be openly criticized for the things they neglect in game design, and they're already saying the shallow MMO design has seeped into XVI.

As much as I'm starting to have fun in XVI in the second half of the game, I also realize when the dust settles - It's going to continue to be an extremely divisive mainline, with CBU:III's flaws as visible as they've ever been.

You wouldn't like it on the FF Subreddit, it's a massacre.

And that's not even talking about the troll purist shit. That's just normal players having a discussion and ripping everything to shreds.

XVI is the worst FF title because it's the newest. That's just how it is. We'll see what people truly think in a couple years. But for now, I still hold onto my current criticisms, and we'll see how I feel when I finish Normal then FF Mode.

Just to keep my own 'story' straight in case someone comes at me with assumptions, I'm having fun-

But I had a thought which was like some of these cutscenes remind me of FFXIV (not the epic ones, the day to day npc ones), and kept thinking a lot of new systems would fit well into a new mmo lol. Some cuts were awkward or clearly FFXIV "we pantomime telling the story to catch everyone up". Now it can simply be me making a potential theory fit into the box I'm making for it, but still imagining like FFXII to FFXIV we'll have FFXVI to FFX... somethin'.

Just systems here and there that seemed to be fantastic additions to an MMO, or how certain things were done 'MMO'-like. Funnily enough besides the more action oriented combat a major feature I was like 'oh, I wants that for the next MMO' is all the lore systems. Being able to pop up "who the heck was that?" finder, or the history map, relationship map, codex, I was like... that's damn nice. Would like to see it grow to include notes and books you find, and perhaps have more rewards for the lore levels, but it's nice.

Story and visuals I'm enjoying a lot-- very good on that level. Combat is fun, but I have comments. The level / terrain design's "beauty" is very good and goes into visuals.. I am frequently 'looking' at the landscapes and enjoying them. The airship was really fun to explore and I like how the game is visually. Yet I feel the /level/ designs themselves, in discussion of gameplay, should either be more freeing (less invisible wall city with a near useless jump) or more puzzle designed (like GoW, dang you OP lol). As currently we've got limited freedom but relatively linear designs, which isn't really the best of both worlds lol (PRETTY, but gameplay wise they're a bit obvious).

Ready to throw my self into the pyre as usual, I substantially like FFXVI more than FFVIII and therefore by default FFXVI cannot be the worst.. for me. Lol. Though I wouldn't want to compare them as there is usually fond things to each, and I feel it'd be better just to say if you liked it or not.. rather than some sort of prisoner dilemma, zero sum, or whatever other awkward situation. So as said before, am enjoying the game- do not feel the purchase price was for naught. Would be happy to leave detailed FFXVI feedback if they cared for it, but I have a sense since it's not a live service that we're mostly just talking to talk to each other and the computer ghosts (where when it comes to FFXIV I believe the talk can actually matter, if they agree / fit the schedule at least lol).

Hits the nail eh? No, it really doesn't. If this were true Savage/Extreme/Unreal/ Ultimate would get no traction. I've noticed quite a few folks complaining about challenge in the manner yall are don't even touch the content I have listed. You then say "they're to busy catering and attracting players" yet then say they should give to all kinds of players. Is that not catering...? So what you're REALLY saying is you have an issue with them catering when it isn't to you. Helped you out there. Also they DO give to all players already lol.

Normal content is treated like normal content. If you want harder things they are there for you. If you don't like them that's on you. XIV was never and has never been a hardcore game. Dont just come with assumptions but I wasn't clear enough perhaps (I should use less hyperbole), when talking about catering I am not only talking about the difficulty. I am talking about the homogenization of the game and the jobs in particular. Also how games have gotten more accessable, FFXVI shows that. In a positive and negative way, but why lock the hard mode away?

I am not refering to normal content in FFXIV as well, altho that can be mindnumbing at times. But it has its own share of issues as well with the formulaic gameplay. Just to make it clear: I think CBU3 does a good job overall, but there are some flaws as with every medium really.

If trying to discuss the realities of game development and tactics that big corporations use to make more money from dumb consumers is considered a defense of a company instead of an attempt to get players to wise up as consumers and get smart with their money, I'd say you have a strange definition of defending.

We've got a thread here with a bunch of upset posters who have been complaining about CBU3 for months. What do they do? Give CBU3 more money.

In the end, money turns out to be the best defense. It keeps the company in business.

I'm sure CBU3 would like to thank you for your defense of them.

Your argument only works if we're talking about single player rpg. We saw how they gradually make things easier. Streamline due to player feedback is one thing, but what they did is more than that.

Considering it took them years before fixing Living Dead, I very much doubt they actually listen to player's feedback regarding job. Iirc, didn't they also not know that MCH has ping/weave issue? Healers have been crying and protesting that their jobs are boring, do the devs listen? No. Instead they cater to the heal bot who spam Cure 1 and told healers to go play ultimate.

In fact, I have seen many falsehoods and dis-realities in your posts, such as 50 pages of you derailing this thread to claim that, essentially, RMT does not exist. You may claim otherwise, but what other conclusion can one reach when you, in typical contrarian style, argue against any and every observation of RMT activity in that thread, insisting that real players also engage in them?

I would highly encourage you to stop trolling and engage in discussion in good faith on these forums. You can start by laying off the paranoid conspiracy theories when you yourself very much seem like a paid employee.
