Season 2 Storyline (another 10 years) [discussion]

As I said, these are all just guesses and are expect to be wrong since we do not know what Yoshi-P and the development team have planned for the ending.

Only thing we know is that Season 2 said to be a new storyline that they want to be unrelated to the Zodiark vs Hydaelyn conflict due to having it all end in 6.0.

How does that account for the First already being visitable as its own world though? If it weren't for Shadowbringers and Novrandt, I would say it's an idea that has potential, but given that they can't just remove that area from play, I can't see it happening.

Also the other shards don't have the landmass of Norvrandt... The First is special because 80% of it has already been destroyed to the Flood, but the other shards still have an Eorzea, and an Ilsabard, and Othard, and the New World, and Meracydia, and the Southern Islands...

These aren't small worlds, they're the exact same size as Hydaelin, plopping them into the Source would destroy ecosystems left and right. You think we did dirty to the Ondo on The Tempest? 99.9% of all sealife is going to get destroyed when you drop (6 reflections x 5-odd continents = at least) 30 landmasses on top of the world, and that's if we're "lucky" and those continents appear on "empty" parts. Otherwise Ishgard will get destroyed (AGAIN) when 3-6 different Kingdoms try to poof into existence IN it.

I'm not against visiting other shards, mind, but the logistics of having them physically appear in the Source is, to quote Yoshi-P "NIGHTMARE"

that guess is based around the idea that they may not increase the size of the planet to make room for them.

I believe Pigzig is accounting for the idea that the planet may actually increase in size as well which means the planet will be completely different from the size it is now so there will be room for all the new lands and civilizations.

There is also a possible event where the History of the planet is rewriten to account for all the new lands and larger sized planets if this path is taken at the end of Endwalker so people living on the planet may think the planet has always been this large and all these lands always been that way with WoL and maybe certain characters maybe the only ones who remember the planet being smaller and these lands were separated into 13 shards. Along with players who completed Endwalker being given a new World Map in there Map to show the larger planet now while players who did not complete Endwalker still have the original map from before the New World was created.

The "larger planet" idea has never made sense and I will be annoyed if they go that route.

It's not how rejoining works and it would make a horribly messy world map from a game perspective with the same continents repeating over and over, and that's before you get into the catastrophic effect it would have on each world's climate as they get jigsawed into some other place on a new map.

It's not just a nice fluffy idea, it's one that would be detrimental to the world as it is.

Imagine if we just dropped six Earths' worth of continents between America and Europe. Or three into there and another three into the Pacific. International trade and travel is thrown into chaos, countries that used to be close are now distant, migratory animals have lost their destination and may not find a suitable equivalent in the land that has replaced their home. Ocean currents would be disrupted. The whole thing would be as disastrous as any aetherial calamity.

On the other hand, I would be okay with that happening to one world, because that could be an interesting dynamic, and is also basically FFV. And in keeping with my love of liking to see the 'now what' aftermath of big epic stories, I've always wanted to know what happened three days after the end of FFV where two planets' worth of kingdoms have to get together to renegotiate borders because they now overlap.

It's not gonna happen, but if any of that 'soft rejoining' were to happen, that'd be the manageable and fun one.

That will be a issue if History is not Altered.

As I mentioned in my comment above, the way the One World scenario will work is if Reality itself alters the entire planet both appearance wise and history wise so that the world has always been that way. The WoL and maybe a select few of his/her companions may remember the old world being smaller and less civilizations but the new world will function as if it has always been that way since its own history has been altered to account for all possible additions to the planet. That includes animal behavior, country's trading routes adjusted to include civilizations that was never there before, geography of regions, and etc.

We also cannot be certain each shard has the same geography as each other as well despite starting out the same since each shard goes through their own geographical events that greatly alters the appearance of their land.

It is one of the more basic scenario when a One World Scenario happens for the History of the world to adjust itself to account for all possible issues and resolve them all due to how the history is altered.

However, as I said these are all just guess and we won't know how things will end until next week. (You know there will be those small amount that try to beat the entire Endwalker MSQ within 1 or 2 days.)

And I dislike that idea too. It's heading in the direction of a very shakey, inconsistent timeline and I don't want them to just be able to rewrite people's minds like that.

It's not good storytelling to me.

Additionally it still leads to the issue of an oversized and repetitive world map.

Combining would be incredibly messy; for example, Eulmore is located essentially on top of Limsa Lominsa, and there would be significant overlap between the zones so they couldn’t just exist in the same plane without throwing out old zones which complicates the whole mess.

I'm kind of expecting there to be a "partial" rejoining that links the shards to Source in a way that does not constitute their immediate absorption but allows them to transfer/exchange some aether, possibly as a necessary move for the world's survival.

It would certainly help keep the First relevant to the story when this is supposed to be the culmination of everything that's happened so far.
