For some reason this reminded me of back in FFXI when an LS mate asked for help on getting some of the maps they were missing and our response was "Why do you need a map to tell you that you are lost?" since said person had the directional sense of Zoro from One Piece.

This is insane. I did it once to see. But you can do a batch of leves at 80 for almost 2.5 million. It only takes time. It is a one button macro craft. That is 1600 teleports at 1500 gil each. We need more gil sinks.



I would actually like to see a desynth kit that you could buy with gil. If something is being botted heavily, I would prefer to see that available on a vendor. After a period of time certain scrip items could be available on a vendor. The game has an infinite amount of scrips possible, so we can create an infinite amount of sublime solution. Same with other mats from tomestone vendor. And considering you can get saffron cloth and other mats from ventures, I don't see why a vendor would be game breaking.

I haven't been on the forums in such a long time that I had forgotten how so incredibly hyperbolic the topics could be.

It is so staggeringly easy to make gil that you actually have to make a conscious effort to remain poor enough for this change to affect you. Like the game goes out of its way to give you generous amounts of gil with very little effort on your part. Yes, in order to make millions it takes a little bit more effort and know-how, but this change will in no way "punish" new or casual players, not even close.

If you think 1500 gil is punishing or unaffordable by the time you're a high enough level to have teleports far enough apart to even see costs that high, you're doing something very wrong.

On the topic of teleport costs, does anyone happen to know where to find that data point SE shared once, think it was back during SB at some point, that had the total gil spent by players on teleport costs? Would help put things in perspective

This is simply untrue. At least on Aether. The prices have been below 200k for months and crashed to within that range after less than two weeks of release. The notion of market board inflation is utterly laughable nowadays. Between crafting becoming extremely easy and the myriad of bots SE does absolutely nothing about. Prices plummet while a Savage tier has barely just begun. Prices in Heavensward and Stormblood were in the million range for weeks, if not months. Just for comparison sake.

Everything they said about needing a gil sink is complete nonsense. The economy in this game has long become a joke because they don't do anything about the aforementioned bots and haven't actually bothered with any meaningful gil sinks. At this point, they've simply waited far too long. Rich players aren't going to be impacted in the slightest. I have hundreds of millions, meaning I could literally don't earn a single gil throughout all of Endwalker and still barely notice. Meanwhile, more casual players won't have this luxury. This change doesn't touch the rich but only impacts the poor.

Honestly, even if they somehow purged every single gil farmer and kept them gone, there's still way more gil coming into the economy then being removed from it just from treasure maps, levequests and roulette bonuses.

There simply aren't enough significant gil sinks that the average player is going to utilize often, with housing being too restricted and the golden mounts being prohibitively expensive for the bulk of the playerbase.

The price you pay for items on the market board is obviously the end result of a very complex system, the two most powerful influences being supply/demand and inflation. Due to changes made by SE the supply/demand ratio has changed significantly but inflation is still there. Compared to real life inflation in MMO's is extremely strong, especially in XIV because the game throws newly generated gil at everyone. Every time 1 gil is generated out of thin air, the value of every gil previously created reduces and causes inflation.

Players might not think it's important but the developers certainly do, that's why they do things like this to control it. The two gil sink mounts are a bit of a red flag to be honest, it was an attempt to drain the economy but it largely failed because not many people actually wanted them. Increasing basic costs like teleport costs is much more effective.

I'm not losing my mind over it. I just don't think it'll make a big difference. Hundreds of millions of gil a day seems like an exaggeration. A huge one. But even at half that estimate it's not making any sizeable dent, even over time. There's just too much gil in circulation, and there's so many ways to artificially generate it. Let's say someone spends 20k a day for teleports. All they have to do is run a roulette or 2 to negate that loss and that gil is back in circulation, with interest. That gil that was just removed is right back where it was. Let's double that hypothetical amount because why not, and double the amount of roulettes done. Same deal. It's pointless. What this game needs is more gil sinks like the recently added super expensive mounts. The inventory just needs to be increased, along with the variety of items. THAT would actually make a difference.
