this thread makes me laugh
It's ok, I've decided to skip over any post that does not include capitalization or punctuation. You'd be surprised how quickly the forum cleans up after that point!
You and me both! From what I can gather from some of the posts anyway.
Next patch will be rise of the conjurers mwahahahaha. BWAHAHAHAHA
I agree with Kiroh and Uriko.
Square should realize it's *not* about Nerfing one class as soon as it seems they're first place damage. It's about *balancing* all the other classes.
Ultimately, Square will end up with every single class doing the exact same amount of damage and we get a homogenized experience (everyone's the same, everyone does the same damage and it feels the same = BORING).
It's OK for different classes to feel different and have different levels of damage, as long as there is content to allow each Class to SHINE.
Right now I think the situation is made worse because we have so *little* content:
* We had *1* Dungeon (Batraal) for 1.18, and every class rushes to get in there, and it's Archer that shines (ranged, so they're out of harm's way) and they have high damage.
All Non-Archers complain and SE nerfs them.
Now we have *1* new high level fight this patch (Ifrit) and it just so happens Lancer is doing the most damage and people are outraged.
I realize it takes time, but I hope SE isn't overly reactionary.
Yoshida-san and the Battle Team should realize when we get more than 1 New Dungeon / NM at a time, and have multiple avenues for High Level Players to play in, *and* they design different fights so that each Class can shine...
*That's* when we should be able to enjoy each Class without someone crying "Foul!" because they're not at the top of the Damage List.
If we eventually have, say...
etc., then I think the situation wouldn't be so "unfair" for anyone and we can enjoy Class differences. Note in the above example, I'm not advocating that SE makes it so that you *have* to use a certain class, but that it's OK for a certain class to shine in different situations, with all other classes still being viable for that content.
- New Dungeon A, and Pugilist is really good for that situation (with other classes being fine as well)
- New Dungeon B, and Marauder can shine there...
- New Dungeon C, and Archer / Mages (ranged) are more helpful there...
- New Dungeon D, XYZ class can shine there...
It's just right now, SE is slowly eeking out content, and we get 1 new experience and everyone that's not the best class cries for that (current) "top damage / best" class to get nerfed so they can have a chance to be "top dog."
Square, please don't overreact and think about Balance, not Nerfing (and long-term feel for all classes). I look forward to Class / Job Uniqueness and Feel, and not having every single Class do the exact same amount of damage to be "equal" for everyone. That's not the solution.
Thanks.
Thing about FFXIV is, they aren't overreacting, Yoshida even stated patches and balance will seem extreme at times because this is pretty much a work in progress game (overhaul).
Whenever SE balances jobs in XI things go to the spotlight, never nerfed. The only nerf to a class directly was the Ranger Nerf, any other nerf was indirect, i.e the magic resistance patch which gave mobs magic resistance, or the patch on TP return which Players deemed was a nerf to DRG, even though DRG itself was never nerfed.
In fighting games, salt refers to the taste of someone's tears when they complain or whine about losing.
Unfortunately, he used it out of context because no one is salty about the 7 LNC run. Rather, he is salty about the fact that people are making fun of them for thinking that this was something worth bragging about.
A 'salty runback' is a rematch from the perspective of the player that just lost. In this case, having them post more videos with slightly shorter times or making another thread about it would qualify as a salty runback.
Fighting game lingo is the best.
