3.1 : Astrologian "adjustments''

I just pray its buffs and not nerfs, people complain as usual without even touching the job <3
Noct obviously still need's some tweaking, Diurnal is fine (because it synergizes more with all our +seconds abilities)

I'd say I want a way to switch stances but...that might seem a bit much if they do buff Noct, so just give us that in the next expansion :3

I'd say that Noct shields need some form of interaction with TD and CO....yes they can get +seconds already but its still the same potency shield.

CO could spread the highest potency shield in the vicinity to other members? (So basically Deployment Tactics xD)

I still dream of playing with a TRUE buffer in FFXIV
(y'know just like synergist from FFXIII for example with spells/skills like Faith, Bravery, Haste, Vigilance, enfire, enfrost, enthunder, enwater, veil etc.)
I thought AST would work similar to them (oh i want to buff that guy's defense *click the bole icon* done.)

I love the job, i love the theme, but its just underwhelming....

Really I want them to rework the whole class but I don't think that will happen.

I can only think of a few unique aspects to this class and it's kind of pathetic that they nerfed selene's buffs for this. Even if you were to draw an enhanced balance every time it wouldn't even be remotely close, but despite that the buffs are child's play even if you can choose which one to use every single time. I actually think that the spire and ewer cards are worthless aside from the situations where you don't have a brd or mch. Leveling dungeons they are especially worthless

Why doesn't it have it's own swift cast? The class has a minor theme where you can cast spells instantly and it would honestly fit perfectly. The only reason that -anyone- uses the blm skills at all is because they want to use that one spell and absolutely nothing else. Getting rid of the need for swift cast means that you can give them scholar as an xclass instead, which completely elliminates the need for Disable which is a single target 5 second version of Eye for an Eye.

Where are the additional interactions with the cards? Astrologist heavily borrows from the tarot, so why aren't there any negative effects? I'm not saying add additional cards, but it would be nice to have a cooldown that allows me to sacrifice a card I don't want on an enemy to debuff it. Why does every other skill have to be a generic, weaker version of another healer's spell? You could easily give Astrologist it's own bubble by making it focused on buffs (Buffs enhanced as long as you're inside of it maybe?) What about an ability to guarantee a draw from a certain set of cards? You can easily make this more manageable by hitting a skill that corresponds to the type you want. (dps for bole and balance, cooldown for spear and arrow, healing for spire/ewer) alternatively you could streamline it even more by putting the dps buffs in one pile and defensive buffs in another, but that might be seen as too much even if you increase the cooldown to a few minutes.

You can't even say they dropped the ball on this one because there needs to be an effort put into picking it up to begin with.

Some of those ideas sound fantastic - unfortunately the class is pretty much going to be set as is.

Some proposed changes I was thinking of (while not overhauling the class):
Essential Dignity: Increase base healing to 500 potency.
Ewer/Spire: Combine to one card. Then add a card that might increase healing received. I don't know - its just to compensate for taking away a card.
Spear: Have it apply retroactively on whatever the current cooldown is.
Draw System: I'd like to see it be a liiitle more reliable. Fey Wind is a reliable 30 second long, 1 minute cooldown, 3% speed buff. Over a period of time, that really adds up.

Draw should be on an exact path. Balance -> Bole -> Spear -> Ewer -> Arrow -> Spire. That would equate to 30 second long 5% damage buff that'd you'd get in 1 minute and 30 seconds after drawing Balance. Spread would be on cooldown so drawing the arrow after ewer wouldn't mean you'd be able to get a RR arrow immediately after a Balance -- unless you shuffled or something. There's imperfections in this system - I'm just providing something different. I really want to see a true buffing class.

Celestial Opposition: This really needs to have more of an impact for Noct. Perhaps providing a shield or empowering the current shield an extra 10%.
Noct Sect: Adding a 5% damage buff on top of the healing buff would provide more of an incentive to take Noct stance. Ast in diurnal is very similar to whm. Ast in Noct is like a neutered Sch. Not as much damage and not as many extremely useful situational abilities.

Yeah, I heard it from someone else and just took their word for it since 10% is a pitiful amount. They were a higher level than me and in the same FC so I just assumed, but I guess I should have tested it out for myself.

Nocturnal stance is really the big thing that needs adjusted. I don't know how they'd adjust it without destroying scholars since aspected benefic already kicks adlo's ass, but it needs to be better. There's very little reason to use it over Diurnal. 5% damage buff to match diurnal's speed buff would be a start.

As far as cards go, I think simply making it impossible to shuffle to the same card would go a long, long ways. Also, buff the bole. Bole kinda blows right now. But I feel like if the random factor were totally taken out, the class would lose a lot of its "thinking on your feet" aspect.

I know many don't like to hear this but I could imagine that they just change the MP costs on their spells. AST spells always costed less MP than the SCH/WHM equivalent but it was justified as the potency was lower. Now the potency is the same and the spells still cost less MP.
I'm actually okay with Astrologian right now, healing wise. I seriously wouldn't mind a better card system, a reliable one(the retroactive spear idea as an example would be great). And a small duration buff to disable would be nice.
I'd also like it more if they just change the MP costs of SCH and WHM spells to the cost of AST spells lol.
