Summoner gets no new pets in expansion

The thing is its not like the old summoning. Your basically using an enemy skill materia that you have hidden in your back pocket. Maybe if they did make Summoner like the old FF games (where you summon for 1 attack then disappear) from the very beginning maybe people would okay with this, but instead your a poison-mage with an Esper.

Instead of new pets they should add this 2 things:
1. A skill to buff up your Pokemon. It will grow in size and DPS but its LP are reduced each time you buff.
2. A skill to blow up your Pokemon. (more damage if your pet is fucking huge)

The Crystal, the "Soul Crystal" its, at least for me, the resembleance of the old games where the Warriors of Light could learn job because of them. Secondly, the Summoner like many have told already was not only about that. In games where you could change your class (FFV for an example) you can use another class skill to combine with. In games like FFVI, Rydia (was that her name?) at first was a whm/blm with summoning magic, ending in a Blm/Smn. But again, every FF is unique to its own. Summoner in FFXIV is a mage with DoT and a bit of support, like resurrection.

Well, i love pet jobs so they wont hear a complaint by me in that. What i would like to see is the pets optimized and fixed, with better abilities. Now, in most scenarios its better to take out Ifrit and let him do his job alone, and that is what bugs me about the class.

Summoner for 12 years and counting on FFXI and I've never heard anyone complain about how big the avatars are or how much space they take up. Ridiculous response to people wanting slightly cooler looking eikons. No one is asking for a 30 foot tall Ifrit to follow them around Ul'Dah. FFXIV summoner is fine, sure, technically but I DO NOT feel like a summoner and feel instead like they took the grand job it was and made it into the same pet class as every other MMO. This isn't freaking Sparta. We can have some flair and not everything needs to be bare bones and boring.

I apologize if I'm not making any sense. I seem to have forgotten how low key and reserved the Summoner job has been in every other FF game.

XI had no mechanics requiring slit second reaction dodges based on visual cues. Your point is moot.

Flashy? Again, No other FF games required split second reaction based dodges based on visual cues. And cutting to a cut scene for an attack in an MMO setting doesn't work for glaringly obvious reasons.

Isnt playing a video game to begin with pretty frivolous? Shouldnt you be out curing cancer or solving world hunger?

and I'm sure an ever so slightly larger or detailed avatar would completely ruin everyone's twitch responses to mob attacks. Your point is moot.

No one wants "slightly larger". They want XI sized avatars, which were considerably larger than even Galka models. Good try though.
