Is there any way to play the game as DPS? Or just end subscription?

I completed all jobs to 50 just before 2.55.
From 2.4 on, I leveled WHM, WAR, BRD, MNK, DRG and finally NIN through mostly lowlevel roulettes, guildhests and fates. FATES weren't used until 35+ (I usually only used FATEs while waiting in queue or when I was 40+). Yes, queues were long (usually 20-30min) but I leveled 3 melee dps from lvl10 onwards and it was actually doable.

They are average numbers, so naturally there can be large variations. I've seen queues have an average of 5 minutes and end up taking twenty, and vice versa. The algorithms aren't broken unless it happens consistently for everyone.

last job to level is Paladin. quick duty finding for me :D

It's been happening to both extremes on Famfrit to just about everyone in my FC and peeps I hear complaining in shout lately; 20m DPS Queues becoming 45~50 minute ones or supposed 50 minute CT/ST/WoD Queues only taking 3~5.

I tanked for years, and switched to DPS, so i understand your plight, it can be hard sometimes getting into the content you want when you're competing with 80% of the playerbase who are also DPS.

Don't lose hope.

Do /not/ wait out your queues, don't just stand there, seek alternatives to keep you occupied and interested whilst you wait. This might be something as simple as going out and clearing a few sidequests whilst you wait, or just roaming the land and taking in the sights and sounds around you, helping people you encounter that are struggling in a fight.

Ask your friends, free companies, linkshells, recruit people for a group to go into content together with (not a static, it's not necessary to schedule your time so heavily). At the moment, when i'm queued, i roam around playing triple triad and trying to build my deck up.

Really my major problem with queues is the limit on what you can queue for at the same time.

If I want to do a bunch of different roulettes plus a couple of specific dungeons, I can't queue for them all and just do whichever pops first. Even if I could just queue for different roulettes at the same time it would be a huge improvement...

Lmao, I was thinking of that while I was reading his post. He should of played the first one. I actually liked FFXI more then this. The had a lot of strategy to it and enemy that your team fought, could kill your entire squad.

This. I play DPS because I play this game to relax and have fun, and I don't want to deal with the pressure of the whole group wiping because I made a mistake or didn't know exactly what to do in advance. There could be 1000 choices for tank jobs; it's not relevant.

Funnily enough, though, this is something some MMOs try to address directly. More or less by just making tanks so OP you don't have to do/worry about much. The way FFXIV tends to be so precisely tuned, however, I don't really see that happening here.

FFXIV is probably over-tuned. That's the only way Coil would be fun. There's no fun in just being able to faceroll through supposedly hard content.

The problem, as mentioned in other threads is that people don't want the responsibility of tanking or healing, and those that play tanks/healers just for faster queues, tend to be awful at the content, prioritizing DPS over ... actually doing the job. But there are also plenty of DPS that are awful too. From the bards that play no songs at all, to the summoners who "forget" to summon their pet, or leave it on Obey and use nothing, to melee's who stand in every AOE.

I'd say the average person is just "average" at the game, there are no people who have cleared all the content and are actually good at every single piece of content with every job. And we're lucky that we even get the same game the Japanese get. Every other game out there gets nerfed for us "lazy english speakers", because everyone here feels entitled to solo everything, they must be the single hero of their own story. Just read the first few lines of the OP...

Getting all jobs to 50 isn't a requirement for anything but an achievement as far as I know, so I'd probably just say don't bother and come back to those if you really want to play them. Getting BiS gear... is Final Coil gear. That may very well be a longer grind. 30 minute queues are average for DPS. At launch they were over 2 hours because there was no duty roulette.

Nowhere has the game ever promised you could solo everything. If the OP had 7 friends, they could just plow through everything and there would be no queues for anything except CT. When people feel entitled, they somehow believe that the world should bend to their demands, and make no effort to solve the problem themselves.
