Full INT!? Full MND? 50/50?

If only there were a way to change stat allotment.

If only you could wear different sets of gear depending on the fight you're doing.

Gosh if only you could plan your skills, gear, and allotments out to best benefit you depending on what content you're doing.

Guess that'd be too complicated we better keep the game real shallow.

exept here we are not talking of 30 pt of stats... you will have more of 500 pt of stats allocated by your equipement that way more!
it have a more huge impact on your class that the simple allocation point we did get so far.

if you go full dex, for your ranged attack, all the melee attack will do nothing in term of damage
if you go full str, for the melee, all the ranged will be useless.
if you go with both, (exept if they make specific gear that will kill any kind of deepth you are talking about, because we will all use the same stuff, they can't make ton of gears after all) your melee and ranged will be so so, why bring a ninja that will so so, when you can get a bard, dragoon or monk that will be better?

that the point you seems to miss, we had this in the V1, it was the monk and believe me it was a pain to get any good stuff for it and we was limitated a lot in our choice. worst, instead to compete only against monk/dragoon or bard for your equipement, you will have to compete against every physical dps... it's silly!

Since high level gear is tied to class/job, except accessory, I don't think stat allocation will be a problem.
They'll be designed for Rogue/Ninja to be usefull regardless.

Reading the last few exchanges over all STR, all DEX, or balanced a thought just hit me.... what about Ninjustu? Will there be an INT mod worth noting as well?

Was always a gripe of mine in XI... was a lot of gear to lug around on that job to try to optimize everything for it.

And that is the problem with bringing NIN into the current stat system. The Rougue/THF similarities are easier to work around, but NIN is going to be a tricky one to manage. Still leaning towards the idea of it's core being in STR, but have abilities/traits that exploit DEX/CRIT mechanics for spike damage.

Changing the tooltip to these statements would automatically require changing the Intelligence and Mind Tooltips as follows:

INT: Increases Offensive Magic Attack Power for Staves, Rods (which you forgot), and Books.

Actually, this is not entirely true. The Feat "Shadow Blade" from Tome of Battle allows a character to add their Dexterity Modifier instead of their Strength Modifier to the damage rolls of any weapon that has the Weapon Finesse trait so long as the character has the requisite Weapon Finesse Feat and a Dexterity Score of 17. Granted you need to be able to use Shadow Hand Maneuvers (also from Tome of Battle) to use the Shadow Blade Feat, but the Feat does exist.

I want to point out just one thing. Further down, under Physical Properties, you see Attack Power, and under Mental Properties you see Attack Magic Potency and Healing Magic Potency. The values for these match one of six attribute stats depending on class.

I like to look at BRD as an example of what ROUGE/NINJA might be. ARC/BRD is currently the only class that uses both weaponskills and spells (songs). Songs are influenced by the magic attributes (mnd, pie), and weaponskills are influenced by the physical attributes (dex, vit). Boosting the MND allotment would likely boost the effectiveness of both Army's Peon and Mage's Balled, as well as increasing the amount of HP restored when the BRD limit break is used. Boosting the PIE allotment would increase the usable duration of each song do to the increase in the max MP.

OP thinks throwing a shield makes him an archer?

I wonder if he'd consider a PLD DEX build if DEX did affect shield lob.

Songs are static numbers, and even if they aren't/weren't...why would you pick mnd/pie equipment, and greatly nerf your damage? The longer your songs last, the less damage you do, the less damage you do, the longer the fight gets, the longer the fight gets, the more MP, healers need to use and the more you'll need to sing/nerf your damage; repeat...which is why the songs are static numbers/%.
LB is based on entire party wep damage, not stats. Using stat pots, dont increase LB damage (or at least that's what i heard) and if someone is dead, LB does less damage.
Yoshi said that Mudras will be something like Aetherflow for ACN...you dont use it all the time, it's more situational; so why would you gimp your damage, by picking up some stat, for situational skills?
