Seems you're speaking in comparison to Bard.
The clear cut difference is utility, namely Silence. If Bard did not have Silence, it would not get invited so heavily. Then we'd have people only complaining about Bard as much as people complain about Smn, which is as you've noticed, never.
Idk, when running AK over these months as Pld, I've noticed mobs melting much much faster with a well geared Smn over a well geared Bard.Quote:

You failed to understand that the Bard Job is a Utility/DPS Role, whereas the Summoner is just a DPS Role. Summoners cannot offer the entire raid a buff that regenerates TP, MP, Movement Speed, or increased magical damage dealt. I'll agree with you to the end that Bard didn't need a nerf, but Summoner doesn't need one either. I see plenty of Bards pumping high DPS; I'll give you a tip that might improve your gameplay: Learn to play Bard.

SMN and BLM are opposites. DoT vs. Spike DMG.
For playability, BLM is vastly simpler to play than SMN. SMN has to manage so much crap. BLM has to manage MP and procs while moving.
After doing Hydra and having my pet die over and over no matter what hidden corner it was In was enough for me to realize Pet management is horrible and I'm BLM all the way.
SMN DMG is nice. But my 1.5k Fire 3, and over 1k fire crits are just to great for me to give up. Infinite MP is the best thing ever -

Both rings are lvl 70, but the Darklight ring costs 375 Philo tomes total (3.75 WP runs), while the Astral ring costs 2275 Philo tomes (22.7 WP runs), in addition to many other material costs.Quote:

well im a good player with summoner and i have very good dps compared to other fc friends but...all other dps are a little superior (yes gear count)
in another point of view smn need a very very little buff,well not a buff but some fixes
yes we have pet and can do dmg ourself but...pet is part of our dmg,u shouldnt shout "NERF THAT CLASS NERF THAT CLASS" untill u played it at high level, yes have fester,but seriously need 9 seconds to cast all dots and can be done 3 time in a min ,obviously in short fight,on long fight u have to use sometime some atherflows to gain a little of mana,dots are not cheap as u think
u cant use only potency to compare classes,monk 180 potency dont deal same dmg of another pot 180 of another class,u have to watch the right dmg
biggest critical with fester i did is around 1150 (usually crit at 1000 with a normal dmg around 700\750) pet supershot has 5 min recast and do around 350 dmg and using both pet buffs add 80% EVERY 5 MIN LOOOOL
if u see they have to nerf smn (instead to fix) there are just some cases
1)u are a blm and u are not very good in play ur class so a smn has higher dmg
2)only smn u have seen are overequipped
3)u really dont know how smn works
edit : i forget to say,smn has a rotation wich includes about 13 skills to manage costantly,watching at dot counter ur aether charge and reset time of aetherflow,pets buff split buffs aoe dps and of course 4 normal dots (dont count miasma wich is usefull only in t4 coil) difference on blm mage wich use mostly the same 5\7 skill costantly
