Did you know that 94% of all statistics are made up on the spot?
Exactly mate. Its no wonder why mmo's are going down the gurgler. The ppl in this thread are testimony to that. " dont need vent " " dont tell me how to .." " i do what i want " ....etc
NO YOU WILL NOT DO WHAT YOU WANT if you run with me in hard content. You either use vent to hear whats going on so we dont waste time or you dont play with me.
When i played wow, it was our requirement. No vent, no raid....Why should it be any different in any progressional mmo?
I say hi in a dungeon, you remain silent and clearly have no idea what you are doing...I try to explain, you keep doing it, i leave, find another tank...
SSDs produce a very minimal gain and depending on the brand, you may see no performance gain at all - SSDs almost qualify for myth status since they are generally held up as some form of mystical talisman to ward off poor HDD performance. There are only a few seconds for the cutscene loads, spending money on an SSD (which will be smaller than the HDD I have in my PS3 anyway, is not high on the list of things to do.
Because you can install and SSD into the Ps3 and then turn around and install it into the Ps4. Since the Ps4 is still going to use a HDD when it comes out. Doing that on your Ps3 will help with your load times greatly and put you on par with PC players as far as load times go. ]
I split your post into it's main points to make it easier to answer...
1. Mobs can take time to pop on PC as well, this is not a PS3 flaw. Slow appearance of any mobs in any environment, and especially during FATE is down to server lag, and drawing priority - as has been explicitly recognized by SE in the changes they are making to the drawing priority and culling - especially for Odin and Behemoth.
2. Skipping a cutscene takes 3 seconds longer...whoa, shocking, and not entirely unique to PS3. If that's your only concern about the PS3, you better check the CS load times on all but high end PCs.
3. PSN LAG? That's a completely false statement. PSN causes ZERO additional lag. PSN is used during the initial authentication process and launching of the game. After that, your PS3 talks to SEs servers, PSN is not involved at all.
4. The game position checks every 0.3 seconds. Just looking at nominal Internet lag you are going to see anything from 0.2s and up just from router hops. Doing a position check more often than 0.3 seconds would generate more network traffic, but do nothing to cure the lag when escaping an AoE. Try jumping as soon as you leave the circle, any action you perform once you move informs the server of your position at the time, so leave the AoE and jump. Alternately leave the AoE faster.
5. Believe it or not, a very many players have no desire to use voice chat. It's also true to say that my Free Company has many players actively playing end-game and they do not use voice-chat, and yet they have no problems completing runs, or participating in speed runs. Frankly, I don't want to listen to some self important manchild wailing over the voice chat trying to tell me what to do and then abusing me if I don't comply. If people know their job (and most of the people speed running and FATE grinding have NO clue how to play) and talk before starting things, they understand the strategy, and if they play their jobs and know each other, they know what to expect from their team mates. Communication via a keyboard is entirely viable, and very effective - it also means that no one has to juxtaposition my entirely male voice with my entirely female avatar.
None of the things you raise have any impact. It always comes back to three things;
Player skill matters more,
Define your strategy before starting anything,
and last haters are gonna hate, so what can you do?
SSD is not a solution to anything with this game, promoting those things as a solution is like promoting snake oil as a cure for the common cold.
Lastly, "cpu players"? What, you play with AI players? Or do you mean PC players? Technically PS3 has a CPU of course, so I guess we could all be cpu players.
You didn't need a PS3 either. And the money for a PS3 could have gone to a computer that is far better than a PS3. It doesn't cost thousands of dollars for a PC that can run anything on the market with flying colors.
With that said though, if someone has a PS3 already and doesn't have the money to upgrade their computer(or just isn't a computer person), then it's their choice to play it on a console. You just have to have the understanding that it IS inferior to the alternative. Can you still play and do well? Absolutely. But it shouldn't be a shock that others can't even fathom it considering the massive step up a computer is.
I believe this has been said before, and maybe in this thread....not reading it all. I wont question why you play on the console as I welcome the added player base(as long as the psn isn't xXDarkKnight420Xx lol) just don't blame any shortcomings on the ps3 like not dodging an aoe or being able to do....well much of anything.
