For those that keep asking "Why the **** do you play on PS3!?!?"

I've been playing the game since early access on PS3. I did beta 3 and 4 on PC. When I say that I'm playing on PS3 pretty much everyone in the entire game has the same reaction. "Why the F**k would anyone ever play this game on PS3" Which is usually followed by some sort of BS about graphics. (which is probably the absolute LEAST important thing to me when choosing a game to play btw).

Short version, because my PC isn't powerful enough to run the game smoothly. It kept overheating and I had to turn the graphics settings almost all the way down just to be able to even move my character.

Long version. There are things that you need, and things that you want. I NEED to pay my mortgage. I NEED to pay my utilities. I NEED to provide food, shelter and clothing for my children. I NEED to pay my wife's tuition. I NEED to pay my car payment. I NEED to pay my car insurance and gas for two vehicles. I DO NOT need a new computer, especially if it is just to be able to play ONE game. I'm not the richest man on earth. I'm not poor, but then, there are things that I need, and there are things that I want, and then there is paying hundreds, perhaps thousands of dollars on a computer I don't need, or even really want. Especially when the game I want to play is also available on a system that I already own. I could buy that new computer, but then I would have to take money out of the account I set up to save for college for my children. Sorry boys, daddy wanted to play video games so you can pay for your own college. Or I could take money from my rainy day fund. Sorry boys, daddy can't afford to fix the roof because he would rather be playing video games.

Do you see what I'm getting at here? When you move out of your parents' home, and provide for yourself and your family completely, without aid from your parents in any way, there are far more important things to spend your money on, or put it away to save for. Why would I spend a few thousand bucks on a computer that would mostly be used for MS office and internet surfing, when i could just as easily play this game on a system I already own and be quite happy with it?

So, the next time you feel the need to belittle someone because they choose to play on PS3 instead of PC, maybe you should ask yourself if maybe playing a video game in full resolution/graphics mode might not be the most important thing in that person's life. The happiness and security of my family always comes before leisure activities that I can live without.

I agree with you, I think what people complain the most about ps3 users is they don't currently have the ability to skip cut scenes. If they added an option for lvl 50s to skip the scenes if they have already cleared a raid would be helpful. to be honest most of those farmable raids for tomestones do have oppessable cut scenes and a lot of folks just want to get through as many a day as possible to get their gear.

Huh? My wife plays on PS3 and she skips CSs all the time. Hit O-button, Hit X-button, done.

I think its more that a lot of people that tend to be jerks about CSs probably assume to much, hence auto-quitting CM because people are new and taking a 15 min penalty even though I did it the other night with SIX new people and we finished in 50 minutes and watched every single CS. 3 of them play on PS3 btw, so clearly that had a huge impact :eyeroll:

So by quitting they cause grief for other people for what, five fricking minutes of time? What a joke.

Point, there are so many pricks in the game its absurd, and it has nothing to do with the PS3, it has to do with them.

The main problem I have with ps3 players is their unwillingness to get on TS/vent/mumble/raid call most peps have one of the following a laptop, a smartphone, or a tablet. I honestly don't mind if you are unable to speak I just want you to listen.

I can understand if you don't have a wireless router or a router period but most peps playing online games now adays have at least some type of router.

I know plenty of good players out there that play on ps3 and are willing to bring up a VoIP chat up on an alternate device. That is all I am really arming most of the time

I started playing for the PC but have come to see that it's badly underpowered so I lag bad enough to have trouble with higher level dungeons. Do those of you on PS3 have any difficulty with lag? Debating only using my laptop to gather/craft and while at work, but using the PS3 for battle. And like the OP, right now my daughter, house, etc prevent me from buying a nicer rig

No lag issues, only load time issues which can be helped a bit with a SSD HD. So, NPCs, zones, crowded fate mobs take longer to load, but lag is not an issue at all on PS3. Zero loading issues in dungeons.

I play on PC in the same room as my wife so I have direct comparison. The worst is really zones loading, that can take 6-7 seconds for her.

To AlphaGod, think I hit my post limit. You would replace your current HDD with a SSD, there is a utility to back it all up before hand also. And then yah, it gets installed there and reads faster than a standard HDD. I would google it, as you dont really need to go crazy buying one, PS3 only supports a certain tier of SATA. Someone else more savvy can probably help you there.

"i'm on ps3 i can't get on ts,mumble etc" Let me get this straight so just because youre on PS· you are unable to get any modern mobile device available in pretty much every household that has the luxury of paying for a subscription fee game on a video game console? I find it hard to believe you don't have the money for a smartphone. laptop etc but do indeed have the money for a subscription based MMO 60 dollars to shell on a videogame and the console?
They don't do it because they are lazy annoying people, who can't be bothered.

Whose basic requirements? Yours? The reason SE refused to build in a voice chat solution was because it 1) wasn't necessary for the encounters 2) they did not want to make voice chat necessary. Voice chat is not required for the game. Nice to have, yes. Required? No.

Well, if being on a PC is a 'basic requirement' then why is it we see the devs playing on PS3s every time there's a Live Letter? Clearly they must know they are 'doing it wrong', it's their game. Or... There's going to be bad players on both consoles but we on the PS3 don't condemn the whole of the PC community over their bad players, why must you condemn the whole of us over the same? I think that's called a 'double standard'? As is evident, there are alot of good PS3 players to offset the bad, just as there is on the PC. Instead of being short-sighted why not expand your view and accept what you see instead of what you 'see'. That or turn your monitor brightness down and take off the sunglasses.

Yeah, uhh... no. So much not this, to be honest. It's true smart phones are becoming common nowadays, but it is ignorant to expect everyone to have one. It is very foolish to assume one's financial capabilities just because they play a subscription MMO, imo. I have a smart phone myself and I am using it as I make this post in fact, but the only Voip I can get on my current version is Skype. (Maybe google hangouts too, if that counts?) I'm not going to upgrade my phone nor get an iphone/droid, just for this game when it currently suits my needs fine now.

My PC isn't even anywhere near my PS3. I'm not going to rearrange things in my house in order for that to work, when it's not needed. If that makes me 'lazy' and 'annoying', then so be it. In coil now, no problems so far.
