Are you sure it wasn't a smn? The smn egis are su,moned by the same carbuncle skills. They aren't replaced until you beat the primal in the story though - so he literally could have been a summoner with blue carbuncle.

The blue carbuncles act as a garuda once you reach 40 he get the same skill and is able to enhanced your DoT with 15sec
So at early stage he is still good in single target like boss

In pack... well either ifrit or garuda are fine (ifrit cleave more if i'm not wrong)

You get Garuda after lvl 45, so in stone vigil is completly normal he had a blue craby if he was preferred a ranged one then melee pet

It depends of the smn level not the dungeon
You can have garuda if you're lv46 and msq and job quest done

omg we might have had the same tank..only I had it in ....Library.. said we were all overgeared, which only HE was not the rest by far not..and we shouldnt die, when 2 out of 4 were new. I just said to him, easy doesnt mean you can do what you want though...we made it but....was a pain

We tried to do the Vault but he wouldnt even use some of the cooldowns he had because he didnt even have GLA nor MRD leveled. Mobs would go on all of us and he wouldn't even try to take them back with unleash. It was chaos and when the SMN didn't want to kick him so when the BLM left, I did. At least the BLM was on my server and my FC helped him cleared his Vault so he could continue the story.

Got into a Toto Rak run today where the two DPS' were doing a Master/slave RP in party chat. I ended up leaving because my discomfort level was way too high. I'm okay with RP. Hell I dabble a little in it myself. ERP is fine to me too. Just don't ERP in party chat with two randoms around jeez.

Thks for the answers I think I understood what happened. I though as a summoner it was like scholar where u lose the carbys straight away. Didnt know there was a process of replacing them as you levelled up ^^.
I think im just missing my carby as I went scholar that is all ^^ .... I will never forget you blue carby... ;(

Flash + Riot Blade Combo + Sheltron procs == PLD will not run out of mana any time soon. -_-

Haven't thought about BLM limit break pulling the dolls in Antitower. On the one hand it sounds like it could be a good idea because the dolls don't aggro normally, but I can't help but also think of it as a wasted LB because ... well, it's not hard to take the dolls down normally and it doesn't seem to come with much risk.

I feel bad for the healer and dps that replaced us after we left. I really hate when dps think its a good idea to que as a tank just for faster que times.

With correct DPSyou use the lb to explode 3 puppets and if there is no mistake and a competent healer (aia one that DPS because there is no heal to do on that boss)
The boss should die some time after the doll house spell (sometime the lb 1 is back at that time)

Had a similar experience once in the dragon vulcano dungeon :)
They originally were a premade group, but the internet broke down for one of them so they looked for a replacement healer and I got in.
Well, I didn't mind since it was nothing explicit, they were daring to sell off their slave and I got treated as a new bidder or something..?xD I just went along with it and we had a lot of fun until the end, where the master made clear that the threat was just a punishment and he'd keep his slave aaaall to himself..:rolleyes:
They also thanked me for going along with it and I was one interesting experience richer :3

Then again, it takes a lot to make me feel uncomfortable and I totally understand if others wouldn't want to deal with it.

I wonder what their previous runs were like to expect a faceroll. There's some heavy incoming damage in that dungeon and it's not something to undergear by 90 ilvls while wearing the wrong accessories on tank. -_-

It was a nightmare. He couldn't even keep the boss on him and the SMN had to summon Titan... It was just bad.

I feel your pain. Leveling WHM on my alt, I got a tank that faced the boss directly at me... twice in Stone Vigil. First being when the dragon jumps up. He ran over to sat right next to me, which meant I got slammed on. Now I'd be more forgiving if he had caused four wipes already. Just grudgingly tried to heal through everything but took another cleave when he turned the boss into me. ;-;

And yes, five wipes on Stone Vigil normal. He couldn't keep aggro at all and the BLM kept panic running, so I spent a good portion of the dungeon running around trying to keep everyone alive. Later he decided to pull without me even nearby (following one of the wipes). Somehow, I managed to rush back just as his HP dropped to like 200. Most stressful run I've ever done. What topped it off is I had tried to explain to him he needed to occasionally tab between mobs to make sure he still had enmity, but the BLM chimed in to say not to do that. x.x

I'll admit I have RP'd with randoms in dungeons. It's fun as hell to. Just never ERP like those two were. It's best to keep that to tells or a LS.

This is one of the reasons I don't like tanking A8 with randoms. Yeah the whole party gets blasted when he lands but no one besides the tanks will take any more damage... unless one of the healers starts spamming group heals before they can get aggro.


On that note I have two A8 stories after queuing on my dragoon the day before reset to try for a shaft or spring.

Run 1- We get a warrior and dark knight tank. The WAR keeps dying during phase one. Then during robots the other tank (DRK) doesn't know how to handle Brawler and turns the tank buster into the raid at least once. We wipe 3 times without even making it to Brute. Vote kick pops up on the DRK and it passes. Promptly the other tank and both healers leave. The DPS who apparently started the kick tells us the DRK even didn't have provoke. We wait around but the tanks are never replaced. Vote abandon.

Run 2- Everything is smooth until halfway through Brute Justice. DPS is excellent, people are doing mechanics and playing their roles. We've got this. After the robot dance phase I wait for the safe space to pop the LB3 after his super jump. It goes off as it should, DPS is still excellent, Brute is almost dead. Double rocket punch, run out for floor missiles, run in for the shared.... wait. Where is the marker? Oh God he's too far awa-BOOM. One healer and two DPS go down because the guy with the mark didn't run back in. The other healer can't LB3 because I just used it. We still got this though, right? He's only at 10%. Brute goes through his mechanics while we desperately try to finish him off. Another mark- BOOM now it's just me and one healer. Brute is at 2%. I'm dodging everything I can while trying to deal as much damage as possible, knowing one good hit will probably finish me. I survive the Super Jump as the healer desperately keeps me up while trying to nuke as hard as possible. 1%. Tank buster is next so I'm wincing and waiting for the coup de grace.

You have already received a Midan gear and cannot obtain another until the next reset.
Brute Justice is defeated.

3 comms and I won one of the shafts. I felt like a damn hero. :)

Had a disappointing run of the Library the other night, which is a shame 'cause I usually enjoy the majority of that dungeon (except Demon Wall/Book thing... ff7 flashbacks and anxiety :P). Anyway, we wiped on the Demon Wall first time, tank goes "what happened?" DRG goes "non-existent heals..." now, I was concentrating on my own stuff so I didn't really notice if the healer was being crap or not, but i'll put it this way, both me and the tank were fine until the DRG died, i'm guessing we wiped as the healer tried to rez when the book was closing... either way, as someone who's trying to level WHM and AST at the mo, that automatic "healer's fault." mentality puts me off the idea of doing any 50+ dungeons as a healer... anyway, we beat it then carried on ok. 2nd boss went absolutely fine, made sure to run into the clouds so the tank could drag the ball through the middle etc. But then as we're running to the last one, someone aggro'd one of those big "Lobos" (iron gianty) things, I saw it heading straight for the healer and thought, better that it hits me than them and started attacking it and ran to the tank. Once they're all down tank tells me to "seriously stop pulling things." I just... like... what? I'd understand if I was pulling hate left right and centre but once? Don't get angry with me for one mistake?! So just typed "sorry, accident" and ran on :/
So, nothing hugely bad, but after a good coupla runs it ruined my good mood :( *shakes fist*

That sounds so familiar, I think I might've had the same tank when I was levelling WHM on Stone Vigil! It was really stressful, chucking regens on everyone, more medica than ever before and swiftcasting resurrection like it was going out of style. Luckily on my run we didn't wipe, but no idea how tbh :| i'm definitely not that good lol :P

Ifrit is a melee pet. Garuda (and blue carbuncle) are ranged. It makes a difference if there are multiple targets, since Ifrit will waste time running back and forth between them. So you'll generally want ranged on all the trash pulls, then bring out Ifrit for the boss. Unless the boss has a lot of knockback or movement involved, of course.
Otherwise the egis have slightly better skills (and possibly stats) than the carbuncles, but it won't be a huge difference at low levels. Certainly not in that awkward gap where you have Ifrit but not Garuda.

He was wearing Mythrite Goggles of Crafting, an Archaeoskin Jackcoat of Crafting, Auri Armguards, a pair of Archaeoskin Breeches of Crafting, and Auri Sandals. He was at least wearing a tank belt and accessories. He was level 60 for the record. Just why do people do things like this?

The really dedicated don't just glamour their fighting gear, they have several additional "style" sets too with just the glamour pieces directly equipped :3
Problem is...you might forget to switch upon entering a duty xD

(No that totally didn't happen to me on SCH in A6 the other day until I wondered during the trash pull why my heals were fitting my lvl 1 gear and lvl 30? weapon >.>)

Had a sprout tank in Titan story mode while I was on my Monk. On the first attempt, he stands on the outside of the arena during a jump and falls off when the ground collapses. I told him not to stand on the red ring, and he was like "easier said than done," leaving me very confused. On the second attempt he spins Titan the entire fight, making it almost impossible for me to hit any positionals. It's only after we ended up killing Titan that I realized that he thought I meant not to stand in the red area of the target circle... so he was basically trying to get behind Titan the whole fight...

Probably the worst df tank ever and that's saying something -- I roll dps for levelling roulette and of course get Aurum Vale which is always fun with PLD BRD and WHM we start and PLD refuses to go into a stance and only flash once per pull so obviously he loses threat like every two minutes and yells at me saying I'm obviously pushing too hard on single target trash pulls (...if that's even possible?) 3 wipes later he finally turns on *sword* oath and we reach the first boss.
He starts by eating 3 different morbol fruit before attacking the boss which he then doesn't eat any others and we wipe because he has a stack of 5 I guess he thought it builds up a resistance..?

Someone tries to vote abandon and after it's rejected the whm sits at the start point and refuses to move until someone else quits.

Oh, Titan Storymode! That brings back memories from my lowlevel-roulette yesterday. I should say: My first attempt on it...

So, I'm on my MCN, get a DRK-tank, a sprout-scholar and another sprout-dps (monk, maybe?). The scholar is clearly new (we get message&he watches the cutscene... its a damn long one, thx, SE!). While I would normally explain, I figure its of no use because all three are french, have only french tacked and either greet in french or (nice scholar...) using the auto-translate. I dont speak french, so communication seems to be impossible. Yet I try to get the scholar to summon his fairy, using auto-translate. He doesnt, cant manage his mana either and we wipe. DRK tells him to summon the fairy, he actually does(!) and gets some more advice (I assume) from the DRK (all in french, so I can only guess). We go in again aaaaand the scholar eats the very first landslide and gets knocked off. We wipe. And... someone starts a votekick on the scholar. For obvious reasons (hes NEW for gods sake) I vote "no" and ask the other two what the hell they're thinking?! Not the same as I apparently, because the kick goes through, scholar is out and before I leave I inform them that thats vote kick abuse. C'mon - we ALL got knocked off by our first landslide, right? Right?
Thats the first and only time I've seen french people kicking another french person... and it wasnt even a totally terrible one...

Went to run level 60 roulette last night and got Aethrochemical... Had a Summoner, Bard, and Ast with me as DRK tank, checked everyones gear to see if they were item synced and we all were, so I decided to pull big, get to the first wall and only have about 6 mobs beating on me, then I notice the healer letting me get lower and lower while dpsing, and we wipe, on the first pull. Healer bails group vote abandons after 15 minutes of waiting, summoner friend and I requeue, get aethro again, brand new healer fresh 60 and a Monk dps. Go through a bit slower and explain fights group goes smoothly cleared it in about 25 minutes.

Summoner friend and I queued up today and got neverreap, fully geared group, cleared it in 11 minutes. Possibly the best run I have ever had.

I decided to start leveling some of my other classes, so I signed up for Leveling Roulette on my Ninja. I ended up getting Sastasha, which wasn't the best draw, but I guess it could always be worse. However, this was my co-dps:

I'm not sure what was more offensive between the glamour or the fact they were using "The Emperor's New..." for both their weapon and earring.

Basically what Nekotee said. You only need to unlock glamor (which is a level 50 quest) to use it on that character, even if their other classes aren't 50+.

However the weapons and earrings are not glamored.

Also I think the glamor is quite funny, it made me laugh... in fear.
