Bruh, you literally just moved the goal posts from our discussion on how YPYT is bad to focusing on the screenshot.

I mean first off, let's get this clear. It's 2023, people post screenshots of everything, including chats. Unless there's something incredibly private there(there's not), then it's all fair and fine. I don't know if you're just a boomer or if you're being obstinate here.

Second off, you're talking about no one debating the aspect of what's in the screenshot, but you literally stated earlier that you doubt that I've even spoken with them. So which is it, do you need me to post even more of the chat to show where I started talking and trying to correct them, or is that unnecessary? Make up your mind.

Same though. I don't see why people can't understand that it's bad. People look for any outlet to endorse it, and I just can't understand why. I looked back at the chat and apparently in the early morning people were telling the sprout to turn off stance, shirk and then disconnect.

It really just makes me so sad to see so many people supporting it in some form. I just can't.

At the risk of sounding "both sides"-y, they're both bad behaviours and sprouts should be taught that instead of making them believe one thing or the other is more or less rude.

I am exhausted by the amount of people who think rushing on ahead will somehow magically speed people up. You getting your dualcast or other timed proc off means diddly squat if your healers have to heal your ass (or themselves) instead of DPS or when half the party hangs back instead of attack while waiting for the tank to waddle on over.

True speed is when you're all playing your roles and not when you're forcing people to improvise around your impatience and people need to get over themselves and realize they're not the only person playing.

YPYT is ToS violation. You can't just call it bad, its unsafe behavior, that leads you to penalty.

I think it depends on what content you are talking about. Below 50, sure, I'll let the tank set the pace. Don't be a jerk. 50+, I expect tanks to be sprinting ahead and not giving anyone a chance to pull mobs.

I think screenshots are fine as long as the names are blacked out which they did. I don't see the issue here.

I'm beginning to become annoyed by the quick chat options in CC. Trying to communicate on the fly like that, and worrying about hitting the wrong key like "Nice job!" as we are losing has left me flustered on more than one occasion. lol I hope those who have seen this don't think I'm being sarcastic or a jerk. I'm just fumbling my action bars and trying to give people targets. Think I've hit that "Nice job!" one twice this evening, and I hope no one reports me. It really wasn't intended. Side note, I would love to win sometime this evening. It has been brutal. I have also decided to take that quick chat key off my action bars.

No, most of the time its not a problem. But context.

If someone is pulling ahead of the tank, and the tank isnt confident or is undergeared then it can cause big problems. I think this is mostly an issue in ARR content, but if a tank or healer is new to content in expac duties then its still a dick move.


Also, if someone (or a pair) are intentionally trying to pull aggro and piss about to grief the party then it can be a pain. Certain jobs can pull aggro during pulls and cause a headache for both tanks and healers. It might not wipe the group, but its still a pain.

Doesnt make YPYT OK, but still, lets not pretend like its the tanks problem if DPS intentionally pull aggro ahead of them. If I wanted to draw aggro during a pull on Bard, I can and it will have the tank spotting me during the pull. And that would be on me. If I run ahead and pull more than the tank and healer are comfortable with, also, that would be on me.

Had a weird day today while doing my roulettes. I have two accounts, one is a cat while the other one a bunny.

So I started off my day running my roulettes with my cat. Queued into normal as a sch and got pepsi man. It was all fine and dandy until the tank (a vet) start moving left and right like they're trying to dodge the autos. Ok you know what, you do you but then, they turned him towards us. Alrighty, time to be a bit of a healer bot. Despite all of this, it went smooth. Then, I went to do trials and got Zurvan. The tank didn't move and all of us kept getting cleaves during the first phase. Ok, fine, we'll just move. When we get to the second phase, the tank decided to take Zurvan for a walk while occasionally cleaving the group. There were some deaths but that's okay. I decided to log off once we cleared it and went to my bunny.

Guess what? The same thing happened with my bunny account. Did normal first and got Fist of the Son. Tank decided the best place to tank it is in the electric circle. We tried telling them to bring it to a corner but nope. Death montage time. Someone couldn't take it anymore and left, I followed right after. One would think I would given up after that but no, I decided to queue into trials and got Titania. Tank decided to tank her south is the best idea ever. Cleaves almost everyone with the tank busters.

One would think all of these tanks are sprouts or even returners. No, they are mentors and veterans of the game. Heck, one of them is an Alpha Legend for goodness sake. It honestly upsets me. Getting cleaves constantly is not fun. Once or twice yeah, we can have a laugh but every single tank buster/cleave? No.

It's far too easy to get mentor in this game and still have no idea what you're doing. Trusts means you can now level to 90 without even needing to come across a real person for half the time. Then they get into content that requires SOME knowledge, which in this game, really isn't that much.

That moment when you roll on alliance roulette with a friend and get Breach.

That moment when you're on war, and they're on sage.

That moment when you realize their co-healer is a sage.

That moment when they talk at the beginning and coordinate shields to counteract raidwides consistently along with your own.

That moment when you always see your party standing strong after raidwides.

That moment when you see your other alliances struggling.

That moment when you realize this was the smoothest run of Breach you've had in the past year for your party alone.

I've never thought Mentors were needed in this game, but "Mentor Roulette" especially doesn't seem to be designed to help anybody. I never really cared about it but recently I got curious about what it even was, so I looked it up on the wiki. Apparently it's just an "everything roulette" but it doesn't prioritize matching with newbies or first-timers, it prioritizes matching depending on how long someone has been in a queue waiting.

What does that have to do with being a mentor!? Nothing!! Why are mentors connected to this?? Anybody can do that. Actually, the fact that they don't make this available for everyone kind of goes against the whole idea of trying to get such groups filled, doesn't it? Sign me up for "Charity Case" roulette any day, lol.

First WHM gives me a regen before i even could touch a mob. No biggi, weird but okay. Then the moment i drop a couple of HP: heal, more healzzz and morrrreeee healz.
I dont even need Bloodwhetting or Equilibrium.

SO this is a message for my WHM form this Dungeon:
Who hurt you? Are you okay? I am a WAR, you can chill. I maybe a smoll Lala but still a WAR.

I dont know what is going on but i see a lot of "panick healer" and "burning-headless-chicken-healer" the last couple of days in Roulette. Whats up with that ? Did i miss the memo ?
I even saw a SGE and SCH overwriting their shields in a contest whose mana is first depleted. A medica spamming WHM and an AST that spammed Helios as if his/her live depends on it. Sure Roulette is all skill levels in a hotpot but this not even skill anymore, thats face-fusion-keyboard. A couple of them even were Mentor..... this crown strikes fear even in the strongest of hearts.

Regen before the pull doesn't seem odd to me. It keeps health steady until you stop, and if they wait until they get attacked, the healer can get aggro.

Panic healing seems odd though, but some people get nervous that you're going to take damage really fast.

I purposely wait to cast Regen until after the tank has picked up aggro, because it populates my Enemy List so I can easily apply DoTs as we run ahead. If I get any aggro from that, it's because the tank failed to tap a monster or two in the first place, but it's not a big deal. I just run along and bring the monsters to them at the end of the pull, so they can pick them up. I can take care of myself until then.

I believe with recent changes to how healer aggro works from regens and such, applying regen to a tank before they pull enemies won't give the healer aggro when the regen ticks. Someone else may have to confirm that for me though.

Had a SCH that was nowhere near new who would stand in place casting Ruin 2 instead of Broil 2. I could understand using it for movement, but. And the comment about Deploy was that they would frequently use it without having a shield on anyone. Some people I just don't understand.

Just so you know, we're not all like that. Also, have you ever had to vent? Chances are you have. If so, I think you would understand some of what's going on here. There is some toxicity present, sure, but that is usually called out for what it is.

The only regen ticks that generates aggro are the ones that came from ground targeted actions like Asylum, Soil, etc because they reapply the ‘buff’/tick every server tick, generating those artificial aggro.

Hmmm... sure it can work but it is unnecessary without beeing arrogant thats how tanks are at the moment and you need a new player to generate more value out of this. This WHM was a Mentor and should be familar with the cabebilitys of a WAR. But hammered his/her healings (GCD not OGCD) like crazy. That is unexpected as unnecessary. In a Expert run no less and yes healing genrates still aggro this is the same for all healing aka regen but this was never the point. I hold my ground and aggro fine. Regen or no regen: I am on the no regen side because its gain negligible in a expert run. If the healer thinks it helps him, sure give me all your regen but in the of the day with the way the tankclass is designed this is more of a symbol. I will never tell sombody how to play but the combination of regen and heal spamm is absolut bonkers on a MENTOR not the regen alone. BTW we talk here PRE PULL and not when i stand and we start shredding mobs or the boss. I am not shredding on a small little planty, i talk here about a mentor with at least 200+ hours (he/she had HW relict and some nasty Leve quest title) so my cute little Lalaself had reason to salt.

Decided to check out the Party Finder and see if there were any practice runs of Abyssal Fracture Ex, focused particularly on descriptions that appeared a little more 'easy going' (rather than the usual "Hector, know what you're doing blah blah"). Found what I thought was one - description appeared friendly enough - something like "all welcome" with a reference to Meteors.
It was the meteor reference that caught me out though. I'll note, I'd never describe myself as being good at the game - ever - more, 'rubbish, but willing to try'. So, after a few minutes of 'should I or shouldn't I?' dithering, I joined the team. Did four (failed) runs of it, died a fair few times, although not entirely convinced I was that much worse than anyone else. Sadly then had someone the team chat ask what I was doing and if I'd read the description prior to joining. Replied that I had, although this was my first attempt at this. We tried again, and failed. Again, someone in team chat piped up with "did you even watch a guide?". Well - yeah, I did.... not that I could remember it overly well; have always struggled to recall what I watched, and even more so put that into practice. Noted that the pre-join description had said practice run, but it was pointed out to me that it'd also said "meteors".

Anyway, apologised for queueing for something I clearly wasn't ready for and told the team I'd leave if I was burden. Didn't receive any sort of response, therefore left the team.

Gave up on the idea of running it again, have vowed to be more careful when reading the descriptions pertaining to what is expected *if* I run it again.

The real toxicity is the bullying (especially in Japan), the YPYTers, the botters... i can't think of more right now. If you have a problem with a venting thread about Duty Finder of all things i recommend you get thicker skin.

Reminds me of the one or two times i accidentally hit Deployment Tactics. So sad (TnT). I love the skill so having to wait for it to get off CD again is making me sad.

I had my fair share of ice mages, Curebots and the like. Most don't respond to chat. I kind of want to know if people at least know they play far from optimal. Had a summoner about 2 weeks ago who was outdamaged by the redmage. Don't know how except maybe bad equipment. Didn't look as it wasn't really a problem.

It's a bit BS when PFs do that. If all are welcome, all are welcome, regardless. Otherwise, be clear on the PF description.
Also, I am in the same boat, in regards to guides. I can watch a guide 10 times. Doesn't help me that much in the fight. I need to actually do the fight to start putting context to what I see in a guide.

So discovered something interesting earlier.

Queued up into alliance roulette with friends, get Void Ark. We mow down the first boss and mobs and get to Sawtooth and his big plant friend in the middle. I see people get the big aoe around them that makes Sticky Wicket, and being right outside of the circle I thought I wasn't in it.

The game tethered me to another player, yet I could walk around. The game couldn't decide if I was supposed to be tethered or not.

I think I broke the game again.

Don't think I've ever seen an Eden's Eternity as bad as the one I was just in. Everyone's eating the mechanics, we've got a SAM that's attempting to call out mechanics that they themselves don't understand. For some reason after the first tank dies and gets res'd they turn off their tank stance, while the other tank never turns theirs on, and it stayed that way for the rest of the fight. WHM is basically afk, one SMN casually walks off the platform three times(no mechs, no ice). Dragged the whole group kicking and screaming through the entire second phase, while having aggro(assuming no one was dpsing enough so heals generated that much emnity), and even lived a TB with a zoed up shield and haima.

Wanted to take a break from the forums, but that was just awful and I needed to vent it.

For the love of god, please kill the mobs that are aggroed on the tank before proceeding to disappear into the void in cutter's cry. I know they don't give you exp but did you know it's hard to click on the sand when everything is aggroed on you. I had a run in as a dps where the healer and another dps decided to abandon me and the tank. It took us, several tries to get through and guess what? They abandoned us again with a room full of mobs. It doesn't cut your time at all. It makes it longer and more frustrating to us who got abandoned. Guess who died the most to mech? The other dps and healer. A dungeon that's supposed to be 15 minutes become about 45 minutes because of this.

just did a-raid-roulette and got pippets bunker.

first of all.... nobody got paralyzed through the thrash. that surprised me.

and the other thing. i went in there on the very border on lvl 89 and lvled up to 90 at the end. i've got the whole lvl in one roulette. no clue though how much surplus there was

I joined up with the ABBA Discord to finally stop chickening out and clear Baldesion Arsenal for the first time! It went great... until Proto-Ozma, where our undersized party really started show and we were straining to beat enrage. I popped Double Edge as an off-tank to try and help, but between it and shared auto attacks I died at 0.1% and was sucked out before the last pre-enrage Black Hole. I wasn't mad, just disappointed, and stayed up unheathily late to catch another run just so I can earn my Proto-Ozma.

Two duties.

One weird 5678 Roulette: Amdapor Keep (50) from last evening.

Que’d as a DRK, then sees SCH, MNK, and BRD zoning in. Ok cool. Did my usual tank-thing. Sprint forward and pull as fast as I could. Past 2nd pack however SCH suddenly insta bail after running as far as where you see the first two mob stood (???????) and I was already reaching 3rd pack. Well that’s very unexpected. I died, but least the other two DPS managed to clean all the pulled mobs just fine without dying—no biggie.

We carried on without healer for the rest of the dungeon. Everything are 2-3 pack pulls. If Living Dead was up, wall pull it is. We ballin’ at 11-12 minutes completion without 4th member so I’d call that a success :)

And then a leveling roulette: Tower of Zot.

This time I went in as a GNB into a 23m in progress duty. Asked for a context what happened to the prev tank and the answer was “Tank had to go.”, of which already tingled my sus meter. We continue from 2nd boss & almost immediately I could already tell at least 2 players in the party were being carried: the SCH (to a lesser extent) & DNC. Each wall pull lasts for over 60s.

And then the Magus Sisters. DNC freestyled their way through & attacks anybody but Sinduruva. They repeat Delta Attack 5 times & was close to initiating the 6th. The run finishes at almost 36 minutes mark. Gave my comm to the other DPS who I couldn’t recall apparently.

I think I can relate why the previous tank bailed…

Had to tell a BLM in Skalla to use their AOEs on 3+ trash pulls, not to spam Fire III, and they started spamming Fire I, right after telling me they got yelled at for spamming Fire I. Not a single Thunder was found either.

If it makes you feel any better, past couple of days I've had a drk that only touched TBN only one time in Tower of Babil, and would barely mitigate, if at all, on wall pulls. I had to dump everything in my whm kit to keep him upright. He was also the lowest dps according to a friend's number monkey from single-targetting, and would barely aoe in trash packs.

We also had a dancer who for some reason would not do their Simon Says portion of Standard and Tech Step, and barely met the minimum ilvl for Lunar Subterrane. They also exploded on the stack when they had just a single vuln stack.

Same dungeon, but different party, our tank wanted to play the shirk game, but the second he pulled the last boss his computer BSOD'ed and one very unlucky mch had to tank him. I sustained him for as long as I could.

One Fell Court run had another dancer with extremely cringey 80s and 90s song lyrics for their major cooldowns. Also note they only pressed these in order to activate said skills, and said chat macros were a paragraph long. At the end of the run my stomach belched in disgust at the cringe.

It's only gonna get worse from here.

Got into a dungeon with a DNC/WHM couple. Take a wild guess who got dance partnered. The other DPS was a BLM, and I was running GNB at the time.

The WHM then proceeded to die on all but one boss. Things would have gone rather poorly were it not for the BLM actually being competent enough for us to get things down before my decision to queue as something other than WAR eventually resulted in my death.

One time I unequipped my job stone and played through the entire dungeon that way. I wanted to be the Marauder of Light and not the Warrior of Light.




Fight as one.

Very recently had a really impatient Sage in a team, doing Lunar Subterrane - it was only my second playthrough of it, and the Paladin on the team noted it was their first run of it (and watched the cutscenes before we started). Anyway, we proceeded at a moderate, somewhat cautious pace with the Sage pacing the Tank and myself and the other DPS, a Ninja, following. We made it to the Damcyan Antlion, but during that fight the Ninja in our team died, followed by the tank (didn't manage to get out of quicksand puddle), me, and the Sage. The Sage, has a bit of a mini-meltdown about it and then says "this doesn't work for me" and ragequits. Sadly the Ninja, for reasons unknown, followed. The tank, however, said he'd stay/wait and I agreed to stay too; after a good eight minutes, we did get 'replacement' players and the run proceeded fairly smoothly.

Still - can only assume the Rage-Sage wanted a really quick run and can't help but think they should've gotten some friends together rather than simply join a random queue if that were the case.

Looking over a 10-minute replay of a Mothercrystal duty yesterday that was mostly solo-healed as AST. Said job is an effective challenge when farming Trial Roulettes since you're weaving what feels like twice as many buttons as the other healers for the same healing, it lacks their consistent/potent burst heals, and it's the most difficult to avoid spending MP on GCD heals with. Combine that with one of the hardest synced trials, the co-healer dc'ing just before the initial phase transition, and a new RPR that struggled to stay alive, and your MP is suddenly in the triple digits even when forgoing raises/GCD heals as much as possible. Times like that you wished LB2 (which wasn't used until the end) was an option to restore some of your MP.

Rest of the group managed well enough aside from a boner or two: WAR solo'd a tank stack at the start with 4 vulnerability stacks and no mit/Holmgang and later ran into an earth stack after tanking both hits from a cross cleave; DRK was flawless but got smooshed by Lightwaves as the boss died; SMN got the proximity charge backwards (though that was a flubbed Rescue opportunity); DNC succumbed to a Crystallized ice marker; and co-RPR had no issues. The new RPR actually facewalled into an earth stack right after getting struck and later accepted a raise into a cross cleave while immediately discarding the invincibility, so that was fun. All that said, it should be interesting to see what they end up doing for the AST revamp.

Decided to queue for mentor roulette for the hell of it, got Snowcloak and noticed the healer was new. I thought it would be right to give quick advice as we progressed, you know, like a mentor. Apparently I'm a jerk.

He died on the last boss and yet it didn't even matter because I healed the dps with Aurora when I could and used pots to heal myself. It's people like this that remind me of when I was levelling BLM back in SB, I wasn't rude like this guy but I was still dismissive of advice because I just wanted to get it to 70. I think back on that moment and cringe every time, especially since I love playing BLM these days. Hopefully this guy has his moment of clarity in the future and realizes what a tosser he was.
