hmm miss the mark might be a way to put it but honestly only problem with Criterion dungeon is the rewards the groundwork we have for it is perfectly fine

Island sanctuary gonna be much better for so many people when it'll have outdoor housing items for it actually having an incentive to visit other peoples island because itll actually be different

I think it's because, in part, of the narrative context given to it, like and Sadu and Cirina coming over to our island would make zero sense at least before Stormblood, so at minimum it needs to be locked to 4.1+, and maybe they are planning to have something like Loporrits or Sharlayans to come over on rank 14 so that'd lock it behind EW.

Good question- for some there may not be a reason. Besides what the other person said, also I wanted to add that FC share this space. A small for a person who wants tight and cozy may be fine with a small, but a FC of decent scale would be like "what is this, a school for ants?".

Size also is just simply an opportunity that is denied, and let's be fair.. just having the ability to do something even if you don't intend to is simply nice. Being told impossible just kind of sucks. Then ads onto that the concept and monkey providing joy of progression that we almost all have- inelegant or impossible progression. So two elements of psychological impact.

Don't discount that physiological layer either... imo I believe it's a very potent part of it- in marketing or just general life with brands you can see where "the good stuff" gets a form of magical elevation. Heck in our own balance due to bean counting savage and ultimate... "You do 5% less damage, trash job" lol.

So for feature and social reasons, but also for physiological and opportunity reasons. Beyond that we have many MMOs that are able to do what is desired so it goes into looking at literally greener grass and wishing you had it. Which I want to say simply because one feature is worse or better doesn't mean someone wants to switch games lol. Games are not one feature but a collection of them. But when you look at like nearly 50 houses ESO where you can own every single one of them, and then barely 1 house not in the location or size you wanted FFXIV it makes you scrunch your nose.

Hence why I've always been for highly customizable scalable instanced housing that is able to meet the demand put upon it. Wards will always fall short in major ways in the system they are in- technically they could add instanced plots in wards like phasing seen in BDO or other games, but the system /as is/... will never be enough.

Maybe cap ranks to MSQ, then you can move some portion of it earlier? Makes sense to start it later to see if the servers can handle it lol, but if possible moving it sooner sounds logical.

I've enjoyed the content thus far but do hope to see tweaks earlier on to mix up the gameplay loop. I know they are adding more later (at the top end) which is nice, but I feel the bottom could be thicc-er too ;).

Talking about houses can someone answer my question. The inside is not tied to the outside world. it is on the instance server. Could not all houses/apartments have the same inside large room? It only loads up when you enter otherwise we would have instance congestion all the time. So why can't they all just be large interior? That doesn't help with outdoor decorations. But if everyone's apartment was a large interior would go a long way.

System resources is probably why, but given we know other games can do it.. the hope is SE will get there. That they added 90 slots to the Island is a hopeful sign.

That's my dream solution. Allow ward house owners the ward garden and give them the interior they purchased for, if they want they can use some kupo magic to make the interior larger within the same plot of land. Players who don't own a ward plot could simply start out with apartments that can upgrade in size just the same as ward interiors, and once they unlock the island can slap their home down there. Ward players can also put their home in the island too. Essentially the door is an aethernet device tying your apartment complex / ward house to the interior of the house and to the Island. Meaning you could enter from Shirogane and exit into your Island.

If you leave the game your ward plot might get removed but the house interior remains (and exterior that is on the island).

I think WoW has managed to put out more new content in 7 months than FF14 has done in the last year and a half. We'll see how that holds up with Blizzard being classic Blizzard and making amazingly terrible decisions at the management level though.

At this point, a lot of games are putting out more content. A friend of mine already got rid of their medium and large houses, and unsubbed. I am seriously considering doing the same, I don't even really know why I have bothered keeping hold of my house. There is just no point in paying a sub. Unless you care about events, at best, you could buy the expac at the end of it's cycle, play all the content, and rinse repeat for the next one. You don't even have to worry about fomo relic grind, since you can just buy those with tomestones.

I am waiting on my house to auto-demo and I am gonna unsub till probably 7.0. Real shame that they just don't let us manually demo and get the gil back like with auto-demo...

There's lots of small content problems with the game right now across all the spectrums because of a combination of things.

Savage lockouts and reduced chests are a problem and were mostly meant to stop people from selling savage runs from what I can tell. It's a case where the answer is worse than the problem 99% of the time since it causes all sorts of problems with lockouts and forces players to level two characters if they want to practice outside their statics.

Criterion dungeons are cool but the rewards for the harder mode are subpar, so the whole thing kind of went the same way that the original Ishgard thing where you got pirate coins or what not for stuff went.

Island sanctuary is a mobile phone game in FFXIV and really is harmless content if not for the headache of having to use Data Center travel to go do savage or other things, but then again the player could also just transfer servers... if they didn't own an apartment and an FC room and have to demolish the FC room and apartment just to do the darn transfer (and assuming they have the space to store whatever the heck they got in those rooms).

Housing is still housing. At least now it is a lotto ticket system so everyone can be equally homeless instead of 99% of the player pop being homeless.

We're still rerunning Praetorium which should be a solo duty alongside castrum.

It would be nice to have better ways to level your crafters and gatherers up on day one instead of having to use leves, and it still is far easier to spirit bond for combat materia than it is for crafting and gathering materia. Also crafting in this game seems like they want it to be a full time job, but it only has relevance if someone owns a house or actually does savage or high end content. Otherwise it is kind of pointless. The average person not doing savage can earn enough gil to get materia into their armor with an NPC and pentamelding only matters on the crafted gear used for week 1 savage...

Oh and then the diminishing returns on making new deep dungeons. The best deep dungeon they had was PoTD and basically HoH and this new one are playing second fiddle.
