That being said, I'm testing to see how FEW fruit can be used to enact a color change. Feel free to help by posting your complete chat box set of messages from feeding the first fruit til you were done at that time. I'm looking for variables such as time of feeding, number of fruit fed, and messages. Thanks! :)

I had this same thought yesterday, but there are many people who are posting no color change initially without a message. This might be one of two things --

1.) Desert Yellow is in it's own Dye color range, and it will not change unless you get a message. (Your theory.)

or

2.) New feathers message starts to slide the chocobo up and down the color slider, depending on what you feed it.

There have been a couple of post already pointing to 2.), people getting angry that they fed X number of berries and saw no color change, perhaps because they didn't get a new feathers message.

Fed 4 plums and 3 Valfruit in one session. Got Sylph green.

On my Feed #1 I started with only 1 pineapple and didn't get a message, right close to my 6 hour timer I was reading about the message on the forums, fed 2 more, got the message and bingo bango colour change.

It is quite likely that others could be overfeeding or the amounts of different food colours they are using are cancelling out one another.

Dalamud Red. I fed it O'Ghomoro Berry x17, Xelphatol Apple x15, Valfruit x18 in a random order over 2 days cause I had no clue what I was doing. I was trying for Blood Red so I could get Regal Purple but ended up with this and I ♥ it!
