Need a Gate in the Sukiya-zukuri style.

Just like the Garden Gate, but Sukiya-zukuri, or japanese style to compliment Shirogane houses. Better yet, please add a Gate to the FC built house exterior glamours by default.

If it would be possible to lock/unlock them and even out-right lock your property from being entered by anyone you don't want on it, such as Blacklisted players, non-friends option etc, for example, add an option to the menu to lock the exterior land from being entered, such as nobody could then jump over the fence into the yard if it was set to locked.

But at minimum, we need Gate's if you won't build them into the exterior wall-set.

@JohncarterIx Tall claims for an overcrowded interior with a very confused aesthetic, soggy books and a bed you can't sleep in without getting waterboarded, and a yard that just has a couple of overpriced (via MB) trees and no place to sit or barely see what's going on. Why not simply ask for folks to come see and offer their thoughts without boasting so brazenly on every thread, better yet explore other wards or worlds and talk to people to really see what's out there and learn from the vast spread of housing concepts, but please do show some humility and stow the hubris. Even most really good housing designers don't carry on like this.

Curved partitions in the ward styles please.

Dunno if it was already said, still…:

-Modular layout for all houses/apartments
E.g. option to move the basement and use it as a second floor, option to move the ingress door to be on other wall than the south one. Option to rotate the base box (aprtm are rectangular like 4w/8l, could be 8w/4l). Option to have the stairs in another positions…etc.

-Basic different wall skins like the exterior has (minimal style without those horrendous column for example)

-instead of having more wards, more space for each house ( 20ish slot more could be just the right start). It’s a privilege having an house right? No point of expanding a limited system for a more limited audience if this system is broken as fuck.

-a PC control integration with a fucking real manipulator to allow to move and rotate and scale items in a 3D program-like way (like what MakePlace does)

-artificial sun light coming from North walls if modular layout is a something huge to do (for a small company indie lmao)

-Rotate objs along the Z axis. Scale simple objs(like partitions/doors).

-Modular objs could be a great thing but I don’t expect those.

- remove the auto snaps of objs.
-a better info window with x/y/z coordinates for each objs placed to manipulate the world position/rotation and scale.

- on/off on objs that cast lights (plus a slider for the intensity of how much light comes from the fake window)

This is what I’d have done from the beginning and since this is not my game I can only shut my mouth and rise my eyes to the sky everything I try to think one of the millions way SE could handle a way more better the housing system…

Just a little more space, SE can you do this…at least?
Maybe there will be a plogon for that one day.

Oh I forgot….

A better preview system which allows you to place ALL the items you would, save their world infos to let you buy all the items you need and place them by those info you’d aver before….oh wait this is already a thing.

There's a third-party program that lets you save and load up interior home/room layouts and I would like to see an in-game version of this. ｡ﾟ✶ฺ.ヽ(*´∀`*)ﾉ.✶ฺﾟ｡
It works by having the items needed for the layout actually out in the home/room (not in your inventory or storage) and just snaps everything into place.
The saved layouts could be saved player-side like character customization data.

I wish that, they would make the Exterior Wall sets that you build in the FC workshop, also include their own Interior style and layout that matches the Exterior Wall set.

Like for example, the Cafe Wall set should include Interior matching wall and partitions, window positions, a second floor and access to that all in the same style.
And to compliment, add matching crafted* Pillars, Doors, Windows, a ceiling and floor tile and Light.

It is annoying that I have to waste 200+ item slots with Stage panels and white half partitions to hide the default Interior which looks like it was created by a toddler in kindergarten.

I recently had a discussion with some serious house decorating-savvy friends and we agreed that having a phantasmascape with different weather conditions would be nice. However, it should be a single item that you can interact with and choose the weather you want displayed, so that way you have more control for the sake of immersive RPing on servers who actually care/want that kind of control. I hope they make something like this in the future for sure.

Apart from that, we did discuss some other furniture we wanted to see:

Interactive Picture Frame: This one lets you choose a photo from your own personal screenshot gallery compared to the landscape photos from sightseeing. To clarify, basically FFXIV should have a scrapbook item that allows you to save photos you take in game from the /gpose function and put it in that scrapbook. Those photos can later be made into ones that you can show off in the small/medium/large frames within your personal home. That way, your house feels more personal to yourself and you can have something to look back on for fond memories if you take those pictures with loved ones or friends. Obviously though, they will need to have a profanity filter added though to avoid inappropriate photos from being hung up.

Teacup/Mug tree rack holder
Interactive toilet: So most of us are currently getting creative when making toilets in our houses, but I think it would be entertaining to have a toilet that you can click on that flips the lid up and down, and when it closes it makes a little flushing noise. Just something a little fun for people.
More multi-layered shelving as a wall-mounted item and not part of a bigger piece of furniture.

I'm sure I'll think of more as time goes but these were some recent ones that popped into my head.

As much as I would love to have this, unfortunately it will never happen, for reasons SE has already stated in the past about something related. Specifically, why implementing an ability to add personalized FC crests is also not possible, and sadly it's because of human nature.

Because it is inevitable some smart alec would think it funny to add an insulting, pornographic, offensive or harrassing image to the frame (the screenshot folder is not locked and you can move and add files into and out of it). Given the inevitable blowback to SE that would result, SE would have to therefore police that function, and it's just not worth the sheer effort required, especially as it would result in development resources being divered to such policing of it (this was the official reason for not having personalized FC crests given by SE back during the Beta test). As filters are not very reliable, they sadly they have to be pragmatic about this.

So alas, it's something SE will never implement I'm afraid, as much as I would love to have a personalized picture frame myself. :(

A huge complaint I have towards garden/ yard items is hardly any are winter/ cold related without it being winter holiday related. Many items we have are spring/ warm or temperate forest related.

I feel like I want to start an entire thread called “Rugs of the Realm” for all the in-game rugs we still don’t have as furnishing items! Such a lack of good rugs, and even fewer are dyeable… or if they could just get that starry rug that won in the latest contest!

I love your idea of the rounded doorways too! :) Such a shame you can’t jump through the Hingan windowed partition, or that could kinda act as a doorway…

Just a few things I've been thinking of since forever, listed in no specific order ...

- Flowerpot print canvases, similar to what already exists for fish. It's a shame to let the prints go to waste, so why not use them for pretty framed pictures for walls?

- Miniature model aetherytes of various types, such as but not limited to expansion-specific aetheryte as in the First aetherytes, tribal-specific like Vanu Vanu, and area-specifics like World Unsundered and Sea of Stars.

- More message book stands; additonal ones themed by city-states and or creature-themed options like chocobo, mandragora, paissa etc.

- Interactive table lamps and updates to current lamps to be interactable.

- Single pillow or shorter mat (futon-like) furnishings that function like beds. These could possibly be hidden under platforms to make unique '/doze'able areas inside houses for custom beds.

- Modular simple couches, benches of varying shapes for custom seating. Shapes could include a left arm piece, a center piece, a right arm piece, an angled corner piece, a rounded corner piece, a left chaise (with or without arms), a right chaise (with or without arms), and so on. The pre-existing 'Leather Sofa' furnishing can definitely be used for this as a base.

Adding to my previous wish list… lol

- Arches/doorways/partitions that are about half height and don’t go all the way up to the ceiling. I’d like to have a way to separate areas without cutting off my chandelier.

- Curtains that drape on both sides that could be used as dividers much like doorway partitions are… currently the only option is to glitch 2 stage panels into place to achieve the same look, and they’re a pain to line up perfectly because they act like magnets repelling each other when you try to put them together! Again either half height or allow them to sink into the floor a bit like the stage curtains do. Also make them snap to the short sides of other partitions and not just the wide side.

- Half partitions that are a little lower and thinner. Don’t have to be “tables,” just need more room divider options.

- Just. Let. Us. Dye. Everything!!! So many great furnishings already in game that would be perfect for some ideas I have, except for their color ruining it.

- Window seats as a wall or partition mountable item… I think there was a contest winner for this already, but the more options, the merrier! I really want a window seat. I also really don’t want to spend the slots it would take to create one.

- All the good stuff from the past 2 furnishing design contests that still aren’t in game yet! Really so many good things that are much needed in game!

Mirrors or something that looks like one (maybe same way they do it in cartoons). Pereferably bigger ones you can place on walls so that i could create a dance studio for my dancer.

Probably with a ladder, as most people do with high or hard to reach places is my guess.
There are even specific ladders for bookshelves and I'm sure a custom one could be made to fit rounded shelves. ٩(｡•ω<｡)و
